教学目标
By the end of the class, students will be able to: Master the new words and phrases: rainstorm, alarm, go off, begin, heavily, suddenly(=all of a sudden), pick up, strange Understand the past continuous tense and talk about the past events with the sentence structure “What were you doing when the rainstorm came I was waiting for the bus when it began to rain heavily.” Retell a story according to the timeline. Cherish time and have a positive attitude towards life.

教学重点: 1. Grasp the past continuous tense. 2. Talk about things happened at a certain time in the past. 教学难点: Retell a story according to the timeline. (Usually there is more than one tense during telling a story: the past tense, the past continuous tense and even the present tense.)

Part One: Pre-listening Show a video and ask students to talk about: How’s the weather Where were the people 新授单词:rainstorm, heavily Imagine that there was a rainstorm yesterday, and a reporter is asking some questions. 新授句型:What were you doing when the rainstorm came I was …… in/at (sp.). Part two: Listening-1a: Listen and match the statements with the people in the picture. Where were the people at the time of the rainstorm Part Three: Listening-1b: Listen to the TV report and circle the correct responses.
