Sometimes the parents help make the food and sometimes it comes from a restaurant. The girls usually wear pretty dresses and the boys wear smart clothes. They eat, dance and sometimes have competitions. 教学目标
At the end of the class, students will be able to: 1. get the main idea of a special graduation event in the US-junior high school dances; 2. summarize the structures of attributive clauses and object clauses from Betty’s and the headmaster’s graduation speeches; 3. use attributive clauses to give more information about nouns; 4. use object clauses to show ideas on graduation; 5. make a speech to show thoughts and feelings about the thankful and hopeful season.
教学重难点
教学重点: Help students know about the US-junior high school dances through questions. Guide students review the structure and the use of attributive clauses and object clauses. 教学难点: Students may find it difficult to brainstorm what to say at a speech. Students may find it difficult to make a speech using some attributive clauses and object clauses.

Give task Get to know what to do in this class Tell students that school wants some of them to make a graduation speech at the party. 让学生了解本堂课的主要任务。
Attributive Clause Betty’s speech (a thankful season) 1.Recall what Betty said at her speech by listening to the sentences. 2.Read the sentences and complete Tip1:Use attributive clause to give more information about people and things. 3.Show your thanks I want to thank______who/that________ Summarize the structure of Attributive Clause Practice--What did Mr. Smith say to his students (a hopeful season) Choose the right sentences to complete the attributive clauses in the speech. 通过复习Betty的演讲引出定语从句,通过观察句子,归纳定语从句的语用功能,总结定语从句的结构和用法。 通过补全Mr.Smith的讲话来巩固定语从句在语篇中的使用。

Graduation speech Lingling’s speech 1.Read and choose the correct sentences to complete the speech. 2.Read and think: How to make a speech Brainstorm What to say in a graduation speech Make a mini-speech Make a mini-speech according to the checklist. 通过补全Lingling’s speech 让学生在真实语境中再次操练宾语从句。 以Lingling’s speech为范本让学生思考并归纳speech的结构,再通过头脑风暴谈论毕业演讲上可以分享的内容,层层帮助学生搭建结构性知识和语言支架。最后通过mini-speech让学生在真实场景中将习得用于解决生活中真实问题。
