不定式(Infinitives)
不定式在句中可作主语、表语、宾语、定语、状语、宾语补足语等。
1.不定式可作主语。如:
改变坏习惯不容易。
To change bad habits is never easy.
不定式作主语时, 往往用it作形式主语, 而把不定式后置, 即: It + be +形容词/名词/介词短语+不定式;It +动词+宾语+不定式。如:
It is never easy to change bad habits.
不好意思,要回答这个问题超出了我的能力。
I’m sorry, it is beyond my power to answer the question.
2.不定式可作表语,说明主语的具体内容。如:
My chief purpose is to point out the difficulties of the matter.
我的梦想是当一名教师。
3.不定式可作宾语, 其逻辑主语常常是句子的主语。常见的
后可接不定式作宾语的动词有:want, seem, hope, wish, offer, fail, plan, pretend, manage, agree, promise等。如:
Jennie hopes to prevent anything unpleasant from happening.
不定式作动词宾语时, 如果后面有宾语补足语, 常用it作
形式宾语, 而将真正的宾语(不定式)放在宾语补足语的后
面。如:
He found it difficult to get accustomed to getting up so early.
My dream is to become a teacher.
他发现,如果下定决心的话,要改变一个坏习惯也没那么难。
He found it not that difficult to change a bad habit if determined。
4. 不定式可作定语,通常放在其所修饰的名词或代词之后,
这时不定式与其所修饰的名词或代词在逻辑上可能是主谓关
系,也可能是动宾关系。如:
Do you have some clothes to take to your son today
Do you have anyone to help you.
5. 不定式可作状语,表示目的、结果等。如:
They got up very early in the morning to get there in time.
6. 不定式可作宾语补足语,与宾语是逻辑上的主谓关系。常
见的后可接不定式作宾语补足语的动词有:advise, allow,
ask, cause, encourage, expect, force, order, tell, warn等。如:
We encourage all members to strive for the highest standards.
我们鼓励所有成员为实现最高水平而努力奋斗。
感官动词(如feel, see, hear, watch, notice等)和某些使役动词(如make, let, have等)后常跟不带to的不定式作宾语补足语。当这些动词用于被动语态时,不定式符号to不可以省略。如:

It is not easy to manage stress successfully. When you are stressed, every problem you have seems become worse. Serious stress can also lead to health issues, such as dizziness, skin conditions, and breathing problems. So that is best to find a solution as soon as possible. For minor stress, to wash your face with cold water or go for a short walk outside. To fight long-term stress, it is a great idea taken up a new hobby. Do something
