教学目标
语言能力目标: 1.通过阅读理解并掌握以下词汇:forever, abroad, fan, southern, modern, success, belong, laughter, beauty, record, used to, study abroad, belong to, remind sb. of sth.等; 2.能够通过细读来理解感知文章的内涵,表达对乡村音乐的理解、意图和情感。 学习能力目标: 通过快速阅读文章,把握文章段落大意; 通过细读文章,做要点摘录,划出中心句,进而对文章进行简单的概述; 引导学生积极运用和主动调试英语学习策略,拓宽英语学习渠道,有提升英语学习效率的意识和能力。 思维品质目标: 引导学生通过文本内容及背景知识的补充来培养学生的分析能力和辩证思维的能力; 通过层次递进的阅读任务培养学生的语言综合运用能力和逻辑思维能力。 文化意识目标: 了解乡村音乐的概况,增加文化积累,开阔视野; 通过阅读文本,了解 Sarah 的变化以及梦想,完成阅读任务,增强学习自信心,培养自主学习的能力; 能体会到音乐及生活中很多平凡而美好的东西可以改变人的一生,寻找自己生活中的“乡村音乐”让自己变得更好。 教学重点: 1.阅读短文,获得相关信息,通过阅读练习来提高阅读能力,了解乡村音乐 的相关信息; 2. 运用笔记和要点归纳文章大意,进行概述。 教学难点: 1.引导学生在阅读的过程中能借助关键信息对文本大意进行归纳或概述; 2.使学生理解原本陌生的美国乡村音乐所蕴含的生活真谛。
教学内容
教材分析: 本课时阅读课是Go For It教材八年级下册Unit8中Section B部分的一篇长阅读,以 “country music”为主题,具有说明文的一些特征。读前活动2a列举了几个问题,要求学生思考并回答,为下一步的阅读做好铺垫,活动2b要求学生阅读文章,获取细节信息,活动2c则要求学生通过阅读,把握文章各段落核心,培养学生归纳段落大意的能力。2d则要求学生在2b 和2c的基础上对整篇文章的大意进行总结。2e的读后活动要求学生回顾课文中与乡村音乐有关的信息,合理运用所学语言描述文章内容,并引发学生进一步思考,提出更多相关问题。 学情分析: 在Unit 8 Section A部分就已经接触了和音乐种类相关的词汇,以及现在完成时的句子,因此理解B部分的阅读时是有一定基础的。在本课时的教学中,教师一方面要引导学生运用不同的阅读策略获取文章信息,形成归纳概括文章的能力。另一方面要补充西方文化背景知识,对文中出现的著名人物,地点以及乡村音乐都要有所介绍,开阔视野,培养学生的跨文化意识。
教学过程
教学流程: Before reading: Activity1 : Warm up and lead in Guide Ss to enjoy the song Take Me Home, Country Road and sing along with it. Ask Ss: How do they feel about it Ss share their feelings after listening. Activity2 : Introduce the background information Introduce the singer of the song to Ss: John Denver is a famous American country music song and has sold more than 33 million records and tell Ss there are man country music lovers in America and today we are going to know one of them ---Sarah. While-reading: Activity 1: Make a prediction Guide Ss to predict what the passage is about by reading the title and picture. Ask Ss to have a deep thinking: Is country music important to Sarah according to the title Activity 2: Fast reading: Match the main ideas Read the whole passage quickly and try to match each paragraph with its main idea by reading the key sentences at the beginning or at the end of each paragraph. Para 1- Sarah’s changes/ Para 2- An introduction to country music/ Para 3- Sarah’s dream. Activity 3: Careful-reading-1: Complete the fact sheet Guide Ss to read Para 2 carefully and underline key words to complete the fact sheet. Kind: traditional/ Home: Nashville, Tennessee/Themes: good old days, belonging, family and friends, laughter, being kind, countryside, trust one another, the beauty of nature. Make a simple definition of country music with Ss at the end. Activity 4: Careful-reading-2: Underline Sarah’s changes Ask Ss: How does country music change Sarah’s life Guide Ss to underline the answers in the text. When Sarah was a teenager, she used to…/ Five years ago, a country music song made her …/ Ever since then, she has been… Activity 5: Careful-reading-3: Take notes to complete the chart As a fan of country music, what has Sarah done What does she dream to do Guide Ss to read carefully and take notes to complete the chart below. Sarah has read a lot about Nashville/ done some research on it/ listened to many songs of Garth Brooks. She dreams to go to Nashville and see Garth sing live one day. After-reading: Activity 1: Summarizing: write a summary of the passage Guide Ss to think about some questions for each paragraph: Para1: Who is Sarah Where is she from What does she like Para 2: What is country music What is country music about Para 3: What is Sarah’s dream Who is Garth Brooks Ask Ss to write a short summary with help of the notes you made and the text you underlined. (No more than 100 words! Try to use some proper linking words!) Activity 2: Find your “country music” to change for the better Remember Sarah when you fight over something with your family. Find your “country music” to change yourself for the better. Homework: Must: Finish or polish your summary of the passage (no more than 100 words) and share it in the next class. Optional: Level A: Enjoy the song: Take me home, country road. Level B: Try to learn another piece of country song. 教学反思: 本课为八年级下第八单元Section B 阅读板块,设计过程以新课标理念为指引,以学生为本,面向全体学生,教学过程不断激发学生的学习兴趣,采用学生体验参与,语言实践,培养学生的语言运用能力,引导学生形成初步的学习策略。 阅读任务的设置关注内在逻辑和关联,注意提炼和整合内在知识结构,增加了文化背景知识介绍,注重对学生思维品质和文化意识的培养,在教学中体现英语学科核心素养。基于学情对阅读任务进行了整合,通过快速阅读,细读完成阅读任务,运用丰富的视频,图片,背景资料深挖文本深层含义,拓宽学生视野,设置开放性问题,引导学生各抒己见,课堂教学较好地完成所设定的教学目标。
