Did you know the news about dinosaur eggs A 9-year-old boy Zhang Yangzhe and his mother found 11 dinosaur eggs in 2019 in Heyuan, Guangdong when they were having a trip. Scientists kept repairing(修复) them and in 2022 they finished the job successfully.① They found the eggs were 90 million years old.
It was not the first time that children in Heyuan had
found dinosaur eggs. At first, four middle school students
found some dinosaur eggs in 1996. Over the years, many
young people in Heyuan found dinosaur eggs and sent
them to the museum.② Scientists are often busy studying
them.
In the past, scientists used hammers(锤子) and
knives to do the job. Now they have better tools such as
pneumatic guns(气枪).③ They need to clean the eggs
carefully, and take the eggs out from the sandstone slowly.
In fact, there are lots of dinosaur eggs under the ground
in Heyuan because many dinosaurs used to live there.
The Heyuan Dinosaur Museum in Guangdong has many
dinosaur eggs. The museum keeps the Guinness World
Record for having the most dinosaur eggs in the world.
People usually found dinosaur eggs in soft soil, but in Heyuan, people found them in hard ground. “It helps people study the living environment of dinosaurs in Heyuan,” said Wang Qiang from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

“Plants are the basis of all life, including ourselves. We need them for every mouth of food we eat and air we breathe.”
David Attenborough said this at the beginning of The Green Planet, a BBC documentary series(系列纪录片) about plants in 2022.He's right. It is plants that bring us fruit and vegetables. Plants also give us the oxygen we need.
But do you know enough about plants The Green Planet shows the amazing lives of plants that we have never seen before. Though they can't walk or speak, they act like animals in many ways.
Fighting
Plants fight against each other to live because they need sunlight. In tropical(热带的) forests, the forest floor is like a fighting field. Only two percent of the sunlight gets to it, according to the series. A large plant Monstera opens its big leaves to reach sunlight. At the same time, a vine catches it to get a ride. But a balsa tree wins over both of them because it grows faster.
Helping each other
Plants also help each other and even “talk”. In deserts, the roots of Euphrates poplar are connected. If a tree finds water, it will share it with others through the roots. Studies also show that plants can “talk” to each other. If a tomato plant gets a leaf disease, it can tell nearby plants about it.
Protecting themselves
Each kind of plant has its own ways to protect itself. Some trees make poisonous sap(有毒的汁液). Some flowers give off a bad smell. The documentary shows us a corpse flower. It grows a metre wide. Looking closely, it has teeth. More dangerously, it gives off a bad smell to keep animals away. Attenborough calls it “the pungent smell of death”.
