Alongside her impressive musical career, Leona Lewis is also the owner of a vegan(素食主义的)coffee shop, Coffee And Plants. She has great enthusiasm for the coffee shop and reveals the drink flavors that they’ve been working on lately. “We’ve just rolled out our new pumpkin drink at the coffee shop. It’s called Pumpkin Pie, and it’s really good! We use all real pumpkin puree, not flavored syrup.”
Coffee And Plants is a real passion project for Lewis, being fully plant-based. She has a long history of animal activism(行动主义), starting with going vegetarian(素食者)at the age of 12 after going on shopping trips with her mum and seeing protesters with animal testing signs. “I was so upset, I said, ‘Mum, I have to help the animals’,” she says. “That became my mission as a kid, and it’s fed into every aspect of my life.”
Her animal activism grew alongside her fame: in 2011 she supported a campaign to ban the use of wild animals in circuses, and in 2013 she released a cruelty-free makeup line with The Body Shop. When it came to opening a coffee shop, making it plant-based was a no-brainer.
“I wanted it to be plant-based because I’m plant-based,” she says. “I would often go into coffee shops and see milk cartons piled up high and think, how many cows are being milked for this The dairy industry and mass farming—it’s so cruel and harms the environment too.”
Environmental awareness is also at the heart of Coffee And Plants, with all cups being recyclable. But ultimately, Lewis is hoping for a more widespread mindset shift. “What we really try and get people to do is actually bring in their own bottles to refill, or we encourage them to sit in and have a coffee in a cup instead,” she explains. “We need a mindset shift where we start to think, OK, we shouldn’t really be using stuff that just goes in the bin.”

D.To give an example of Lewis’ animal activism.
27.Which of the following statements may Lew is agree with
A.People have to start using reusable things.
B.The mind shift is quite easy to accomplish.
C.People shouldn’t use cups in the coffee shop.
D.Only vegetarians can go into the coffee shop.

Disneyland’s opening day, July 17, 1955, was a terrible experience. Rides broke down. Restaurants ran out of food and drink and drinking fountains were in short supply... All in front of a national audience of 90 million, then the largest live broadcast in television history on a day that would be known in Disney history as Black Sunday.
But Disney’s story actually started two decades earlier with what Walt Disney called “Daddy’s Day”. On Saturdays in the 1930s and 1940s, Disney would take his two daughters to ride the Griffith Park merry-go-round, which they’d enjoy while he sat on a bench dreaming of ways for families to have fun together. Disney disliked the amusement parks they often visited, seeing them as dirty, unimaginative places run by rude employees.
He thought he could do better. In 1939 he asked two animators(动画片制作者)at his movie studio to work on a plan for an amusement park. By 1952 the idea had expanded into a $1.5 million amusement park proposal that he presented to Burbank. The City Council, which feared such a project would create a carnival(嘉年华)atmosphere, rejected the proposal. Disney counted the rejection as fortunate setback. By now, his dream for a theme park had gone beyond the space available in Burbank. He searched locations throughout Southern California. A 160-ac re orange garden, 22 miles south of Los Angeles, was soon selected.
The ABC television network offered $5 million in loans and investment s if Disney agreed to produce and host a one-hour weekly show called “Disneyland”. The deal amounted to months of free advertising for the park and allowed Disney to introduce TV audiences, particularly kids, to the park.
Disneyland opened then. The 5,000 expected guests increased to 28,154, thanks to fake tickets. After the madness of opening day, Disney and his new park were criticized in the press. The media predicted a quick and early end. But the public didn’t listen. Visitors arrived in large groups, and within weeks Disneyland was a success.
Over sixty years later, Disneyland’s popularity continues to grow, with total overall attendance topping 700 million and showing no signs of slowing down.
28.What mainly led to Walt Disney’s plan to build his own amusement park
A.His ambition to expand beyond the movie industry.
B.His animators’ suggestion on an entertainment plan.
C.His wish to create a better place for family recreation.
D.His daughters’ unpleasant experience in the Griffith Park.
29.By “Disney counted the rejection as a fortunate setback” in paragraph 3, the author means the rejection ______.
A.brought good luck to Disney and his park
B.contributed to the difficulty of opening the park
C.presented Disney with a favorable chance to re think his plan
D.was viewed as a financial obstacle to the design of the park
30.What can be learned about Disneyland from the passage
A.Everything went on smoothly before it opened.
B.People’s enthusiasm for it increased despite criticism.
C.It spent $5 million on advertising for its opening.
D.Only invited guests could get into it on its opening day.
31.Which is the best title for the passage
A.Disneyland: How It All Began B.Disneyland: An Overnight Success
C.Disneyland: How It Developed D.Disneyland: A Park with a Long History

Artificial intelligence(AI)models have long surpassed(超过)just creating text responses and images. Now, with only one sentence, OpenAl’s latest text-to-video model, Sora, can turn your words into video with good visual quality while faithfully following your content instructions.
Sora is said to outperform many other existing models with similar functions. The AI model can create videos at suitable aspect ratios(屏幕高宽比)for different devices, such as both widescreen videos and vertical(竖的)videos that we usually see on social media. This allows it to offer diverse products. It also lets users quickly test out content in lower quality before making the high-quality version, which helps speed up output.
Apart from this, its ability to present videos in a realistic and smooth manner is astonishing. Sora can create detailed scenes with several characters, specific types of motion, and accurate subject and background details while generating multiple photos within a single video. Beyond the user’s requests, it also understands how these elements exist in the real world. For example, reflections in the water change as a woman walks by.
Sora’s amazing performance wouldn’t be possible without its helpful assistant, ChatGPT, which transforms simple sentences into detailed descriptions, improving the accuracy of output according to the user’s prompts(提示语).
However, the current model isn’t perfect. It may have trouble accurately showing how things move in a complicated(复杂的)scene and might not get how one action leads to another. For example, if some one eats part of a cookie in a Sora-made video, the cookie might not look like it’s been bitten into. The model might mix up directions like left and right, and find it hard to describe events in the right order. One possible reason is that Sora learns each basic unit of a video, known as a spacetime patch(时空补丁), independently, according to an online post by the Institute of Physics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Up to February, Sora is still in the testing stage of development. OpenAI is now inviting cybersecurity(网络安全)professionals to make random attacks on Sora’s system, aiming to test the model’s possible weaknesses and risks. Sora has also been open to some visual artists, designers and filmmakers. Their feedback(反馈)will assist OpenAI in enhancing the model to better serve creative professionals.
32.What is the main focus of paragraphs 2-3
A.Sora’s evolution. B.Sora’s diversity.
C.Sora’s strengths. D.Sora’s techniques.
33.How does ChatGPT contribute to Sora’s abilities
A.By specifying user input.
B.By providing verbal feedback.
C.By analyzing sample videos.
D.By enhancing video quality.
34.Why does the author provide the example in paragraph 5
A.To highlight Sora’s potential safety risks.
B.To illustrate Sora’s existing limitations.
C.To showcase Sora’s perfect performance.
D.To explain the concept of a spacetime patch.
35.What can we know about Sora up to now
A.It has been made available to various industries.
B.Its commercial release has been called off.
C.It has exposed alarming security issues.
D.It is undergoing testing and improvement.

第二节:读后续写(满分25分)
A couple of months before I started high school, my parents gave me the greatest gift any teenage boy could ask for: a cellphone. I lived on that phone all summer with my face buried in its screen. I ignored my family and my surroundings. Being connected was more important than being present.
So, you can imagine my displeasure when I learned what my dad had planned for our family vacation that year. “This year,” my dad said, “we’ll be doing something special. We’re going camping!” His excitement was met with a disappointed sigh. It wasn’t my dream vacation because mind was on my phone. I was so buried in the screen, in fact, that the first time I can remember truly looking up was when we drove across a bridge on the way to our campsite.
I stared out the window and saw redwoods towering above us, their branches threatening to pierce(刺破)the blue sky. I saw a roaring river, with slivers of silky black water appearing between crashing white rapids. The air blowing into the car from the open windows was hot. But none of that mattered to me. The reason why I had looked up was for something far more serious. More shocking, my phone no longer had service.
The last hour of the drive was increasingly tense. My dad announced that he had chosen a campsite that had no cell service, and that my phone would be useless until we returned home. I would be trapped in the forest for four days with no way to contact the outside world! I went through the full cycle of teenage emotions during the first day of the trip. I raged. I bargained. I begged. I changed from a depressive state to anger and back.
I went to bed angrily that night. But when I awoke in the morning, something had changed.

An Impressive Chinese Calligraphy Exhibition
In order to arouse students’ interest in Chinese calligraphy, our school held the Chinese Calligraphy Exhibition last Friday, which attracted many calligraphy lovers, including teachers and students.
The exhibition featured a wide range of works from famous people together with their background information. Visitors had a good taste of the traditional art of handwriting that has developed over many centuries and has been widely practiced in China. Over fifty works of our students were also on display.
The cultural feast was highly regarded. Some students interviewed said they not only appreciated the beauty of Chinese characters, but also had a better understanding of its hidden meanings as well as writers’ inner world.

参考范文
Instead of burying myself in my phone, I focused on something else: my surroundings. I let the noise of the wilderness wash over me, animals and bugs creating a ruckus that was both loud and serene at the same time. My anger turned to peace, then little interest and, finally, excitement. Standing on the high campsite, I felt the weight of stress melt from my shoulders as I viewed the vast expanse that unfolded below me. The sight that met my startled eyes nearly took my breath away. For the first time, I thought camping in a place that had no cell service might not be so bad.
The next four days passed in a flash with many fun activities. I hiked. I swam. I fished. My dad and I learned how to start a fire together after several false starts. We cooked together and I ate the sweetest marshmallows I had ever tasted. Dad told me stories of his life, stories I had never heard or perhaps I hadn’t been listening. When the weekend came to an end, I realized I hadn’t thought of my phone once. I hadn’t felt the need to be connected to anywhere else. It dawned on me that what mattered most were the moments I was sharing with just my father and nature.
