Danny: For my project, I will describe some places and things from China.
You guess their names. Just try your best. Are you ready Let’s
begin! These things are very old. People built them a long time ago.
They look like an ancient army. What are they?
Jim: Are they the clay soldiers and horses from China?
Danny: Yes, you are right. They are the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xi’an. Here
are some pictures.
Jim: Wow! Cool pictures, Danny.
Danny: The next one is an animal. It’s big and tall. It’s an important tool on
the Silk Road.
Greg: Is it a horse?
Danny: Sorry! It lives in the desert.
Greg: Oh, it’s a camel!
Danny: Well done. Look at this picture. I’m riding a camel.
Danny: Here is the last one. It is very soft. It comes in many colours.
Kim: Many things are soft and colourful. Can you tell us a little bit more,
please?
Danny: OK. We can make clothes from it.
Lily: Is it silk?
Danny: Yes, you guessed it, Lily! Look at me. I’m wearing a silk shirt.

1. For my project, I will describe some places and things from China.

2. Just try your best. 就请尽力而为吧。
try one’s best 尽某人最大的努力
等于do one’s best, 后跟to do形式。one’s要随主语的变化而改变。
※ They are trying their best to help us and we should thank them.
他们在尽最大努力帮助我们,我们应该感谢他们。
3. People built them a long time ago. 人们很久以前修建了它们。
build 修建,创建
※ They want to build a school here.
他们想要在这里建造一所学校。
ago 前,以前
※ He bought a new bike three days ago.

辨析ago与before
时间段 + ago 表示“一段时间以前”, 常用于一般过去时。
before + 时间点 表示“在某具体的时间之前”, 可用于一般现在时/一般过去时/一般将来时等时态。
※ I bought a bike two days ago.
我两天前买了一辆自行车。
※ He often gets to school before 7 o’clock.
他经常在七点之前到校。
4. They look like an ancient army. 他们看起来像一支古代的军队。
辨析look like与be like
look like 看起来像 常用来描述外貌,强调外观上像
be like 像……一样 多用来描述性格,更侧重人的个性特征,有时也用来描述外貌。
※ The boy looks like his father. 这个男孩看起来像他的爸爸。
※ —What’s your sister like 你姐姐怎么样?
—She is kind. 她很善良。
army 军队,陆军 其复数形式为armies。
常用搭配有: join the army 参军

后可直接跟形容词, 若跟不可数名词则须加of。

more 更多,较多
部分双音节及多音节的形容词、副词前面加more构成比较级, 表达“更……”的意思,如: more often, more famous, more quickly, more beautiful。
※ I have more books than you. 我的书比你的多。
※ Let’s work together to make our country more beautiful.
让我们一起努力让我们的国家变得更美。
8. I’m wearing a silk shirt. 我正穿着一件丝绸衬衫。
辨析wear、 put on、dress与in
wear 穿着,戴着,强调“穿、戴”的状态 宾语可以是衣服、鞋子、帽子、手套、袜子、装饰物、眼镜或奖章等。
put on 穿上,戴上,强调“穿、戴”的动作,反义短语为take off(脱下) 宾语可以是衣服、鞋子、帽子等。
dress 作动词时,意为“给......穿衣服” 后面通常接人作宾语,dress oneself “给自己穿衣服”
作名词时,意为“连衣裙”
in 介词,表示“穿”的状态 后接衣服或颜色
※ She is wearing a beautiful watch today.
她今天戴了一块漂亮的手表。
※ Please put on your scarf. 请戴上你的围巾吧。
※ That boy can dress himself. 那个男孩能自己穿衣服了。
