在打电话时,一般用this表示“我”,用that表示“你”。
常用的接打电话用语:

How’s it going?最近怎么样? 
此句是询问对方近况或事情发展情况的习惯用语,相当于汉语中的“最近怎么样?/情况怎么样?/一切还好吗?” ,后面可跟介词短语with sb./sth. 。此句可与“How is everything?”互换。
How's it going with Jim's study?吉姆的学习情况怎么样?
该句型的常用答语:
Pretty good! 相当不错! Great!很好!
Not bad! 还不错! Terrible!很糟糕!
Just so so.一般般。 Everything goes well.一切进展顺利。

【拓展】
Sounds like you’re having a good time. 听起来你玩得好开心。
(1)这是一个省略句,相当于“It sounds like...”。sound like “听起来像”,后接名词、代词或句子。
It sounds like a good idea. 这听起来是个好主意。
(It) Sounds like he is all right now. 听上去好像他现在已经好了。
(2)have a good time意为“玩得高兴;过得愉快”,同义短语有:have fun、have a great time、 enjoy oneself 等。
We are having a good time now . =We are having fun now.
= We are enjoying ourselves. 我们玩得正高兴。

Can I take a message for him?要我给他捎个口信吗? 
当接电话的人发现对方要找的人不在时,常用此句来作答。message
此处为可数名词,意为“消息,信息”,常用短语:
take a message for sb. 为某人捎口信
give sb. a message 给某人捎口信
leave sb. a message 给某人留口信
Sorry, he is out. Can I take a message for him?
抱歉,他出去了。需要我帮他捎个口信吗?

Could you just tell him to call me back?你能叫他给我回个电话吗? 
(1)该句的句式是:Could you...?表示委婉地提出请求,意为“你能……吗?”,肯定回答常为“Sure./Certainly./Of course./No problem.”等,否定回答常为:“Sorry, but…”。
—Could you help me study English?你能帮助我学英语吗?
—No problem. 没有问题。
(2)tell sb. (not) to do sth. 意为“告诉某人 (不要) 做某事”。
Tell them not to swim in the river. 告诉他们不要在河里游泳。
