Language points
Although many students like to watch sports, game shows are the most popular. 虽然很多学生喜欢看体育节目，但游戏类节目是最受欢迎的。
although 作连词，意为“虽然；尽管；即使”，相当于 though，引导让步状语从句。although 引导的从句，既可位于主句之前，多用逗号与主句隔开；也可位于主句之后。
【例】 Although he was ill, he worked hard. 虽然他生病了，但仍努力工作。
【例】 Although Tom is very poor, he is very happy.
尽管汤姆很穷，但他很高兴。

(1) the best way to do sth. 意为“做某事最好的方式”，其同义表达为 the best way of doing sth.。

(2) through 作介词，意为“以；凭借；通过”。through 作介词时，还可意为“横穿；（从空间内）穿过”。
【例】I got the news through my uncle.

【例】 She ran straight across the road. 她径直跑过了马路。
【例】 Somehow, the sheep had jumped over the fence.

3. Exercise such as playing sports is fun, and you can spend time with your friends and family as you play together. 比如参加体育运动一类的锻炼是件有趣的事，并且你可以在玩的同时与你的朋友或家人一起度过时光。
(1) such as 意为“例如；像……这样”，多用来列举人和事物中的几个例子。
【例】 Cartoon characters such as Mickey Mouse and Snoopy are still popular. 卡通人物，例如米老鼠、史努比，仍然流行。
（2） 第一个 and 连接前后两个分句，在第二个分句中有一个 as 引导的时间状语从句，表示从句中的动作和主句中的动作同时发生。as 在句中作连词，意为“当……的时候”。
【例】 He sang songs as he was reading. 他边看书边唱歌。
(3) spend 作动词，意为“花费”。表示“花费”的词的用法区别如下：
