教材分析
本文为戏剧的剧本。该板块的学习任务是“阅读两个富豪打赌的戏剧片段(Read about a bet between two wealthy men)”。阅读剧本,对学生有四点好处:一是了解英语国家历史、社会、文化;二是了解英语戏剧的特点,提升文学修养;三是陶冶情操,获得心灵启迪;四是提高综合语言能力。

Step 1 Warming-up
Work on Activity 1. What would you do if you had a million-pound bank note Discuss the question in pairs.

Step 2 Pre-reading
Look at the picture and think about the following questions.
1. What movie is the picture about
2. What do you know about this story
设计意图:通过问题激活学生的背景知识。
Step 3 While-reading
1. Read the whole passage and complete the table.

3. Work on Activity 3. Read these sentences and describe Henry’s feelings using suitable adjectives.

Step 5 Assignment
Write a passage about your plans if you have a million-pound bank note.
