What’s really green
一、教学目标:
By the end of class, the students will be able to
1. Get the main idea and have a general knowledge of what’s really green in our daily life
2. Understand the meaning and function of the subheading and the structure of the passage
3. Understand the logic of causes-effects-measures in the context of a green lifestyle
4. Hold a doubtful attitude towards some common sense
二、教学重难点:
Help the students develop their critical thinking;
Guide the students to learn the logic of the passage: identify the “green truths”, explain why they are not green and come up with a solution;
学情分析
They are senior 1 students, and they know some information about environment protection. But they don’t know if some common sense are true, and they also need to form a critical thinking ability.
四、教学过程:
Procedure Teacher’s Activities Purpose
Pre-reading
Activity 1 Lead-in Ask Ss what is the meaning of “green” Raise the question: How much do you know about “green living” Ss finish the Activity 1 and choose the answers of their own. 激活学生已有认知和经验。 引出主题,为本课学习做准备。
Activity 2 Predict Guide the Ss to look at the layout of the passage, and ask them the function of red parts. Ss go through the Learning to learn part. Title/subtitle/1st paragraph/last paragraph Ask the Ss to predict the main idea of the passage. 阅读技巧点拨,理解subheading的意义和作用,为接下来的阅读做铺垫。
While-reading
Activity 3 Read for the prediction Ask Ss to read quickly and check their prediction. 了解文章大意
Activity 4 Read for the structure Ss read the passage and answer the questions: Q1 How many parts can you divide the passage into Q2 What’s the main idea of each parts 了解文章结构及各部分大意。
Activity 5 Read for the details (GW) Ask Ss to read the subheadings and decide if they are true half true or completely false T presents the expressions: common sense Ss read the passage carefully and answer the questions: Q1 Why do you think these common senses are not true (reasons) Q2 According to the reasons, what conclusions can you draw (results) Ss read the rest 3 parts and finish Activity 3 Group Work. 学生按要求阅读文章,理解文本,梳理文中四种环保误区的内容。 归纳对环保误区的原因分析。 深化文章主题
Post-reading
Activity 6 Think and share (PW) Look at the questions again and correct the answers. T ask a question: Q: What else can you do to become a “greener” Ss share their ideas.
