1. When DDT is sprayed onto plants in order to kill insects, it is absorbed by plants and subsequently consumed by animals; humans in turn eat those animals. DDT also leaks through the soil and into rivers and lakes, where it contaminates fish consumed by humans.

2. What harm does DDT cause
● Silent Spring was written by Rachel Carson (1907-1964) in 1962 who was a marine biologist and nature writer.
●The book outlined the dangers of chemical pesticides, led to a nationwide ban on DDT and other pesticides and sparked the movement that ultimately led to the creation of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Book reviews are assigned to allow readers to present their own opinion regarding the author's ideas included in the book or passage.
