教学目标
1. 学生通过听、说、练能掌握家庭杂务的英语表达方式,并掌握礼貌请求和礼貌征询许可的相关英语表达句式。 2. 学生通过语言操练能学会如何礼貌地请求和礼貌地征询许可,从而维系好彼此间的关系。 3. 学生通过创设的情境学会在礼貌地请求和礼貌地征询许可的过程中恰当地加入一些合理性的理由。
教学内容
教学重点: 学生如何快速地学会用英语来礼貌地提出要求和礼貌地向别人征询许可。
2. 学生如何习得在表达个人请求和征询许可过程中适当地表达自己理由。
教学难点: 1. 礼貌地提出要求和礼貌地向别人征询许可的正确英文表达方式。
2. 在听、看、读的过程中感悟听力文本中语句表达的含义。
教学过程
Lead-in Show a picture from Unit 3 and get Ss to guess the relationship between them. T: What does his mother ask him to do (Ss: She asks him to take out the rubbish.), then elicit: request, chores like folding the clothes, doing the dishes, sweeping the floor, making the bed and so on.) Before listening T: How does his mother request him to do chores Elicit some useful ways to make polite requests, accept the requests and refuse the requests. For example: Could you please/ Would you please/ Could you do me a favor to... Sure, I’d love to. Sorry, I’m too busy. I have to... Show a picture which is in a mess to get Ss to practice the sentence patterns. While listening Task1: Get Ss to listen to the tape and check what chores Peter will do and what chores his mother will do, and then write down the reasons why they need to clean the room. Task2: Let Ss look at the tape script and find out the ways to make requests and the ways to accept them. Then elicit: If mom makes polite requests and son accepts happily, their relationship will be good. Task3: Get Ss look at the picture again and find out what the son is busy now. Talk about what he will say if he wants to do something else first. Elicit: ask for permission politely(Could I/ May I .... I guess so. It should be OK. No, you can’t. You have to...) Then, let Ss practice the sentence patterns above. Task4: Show a picture of Peter and his father to make Ss guess :Does father want him to do sth or does Peter want his father to do sth Then let Ss make a prediction. After that, Ss listen to the conversation to write down the activities that Peter wants to do. Listen and check Peter’s father’s answers, and then match the reasons why his father says “no”. Listen for the third time to answer the following questions: Q 1: Why does Peter want to go to the movies Q 2: Why does Peter want to stay out until 11 Q 3: Why does Peter want his father give him a ride Q 4: Who might give him a ride Task 5: Get Ss look at the tape script to find out what father will do at once when Peter asks for permission politely with some reasonable reasons. Then talk about the situation: Why does Peter say “Oh! Yeah! No problem” when father disagrees Then elicit: People disagree with sb. by showing some reasonable reasons, which can help them have a good relationship. Task6: Ss look at the picture to guess the relationship between them and listen to the tape to find out who is making the request and who is asking for permission. Task7: Ss look at the tape script and read between the lines to discuss the following questions: Q1. Is Tony glad to help out with the chores How do you know Q2. What might Tony do them How do you know Q3. How does Tony’s sister request him to do so much chores After listening T: When your birthday comes, you must want to do something you want. So please work in a group, one is father, one is mother and one is yourself. Try to be polite and give some reasonable reasons to keep a good relationship in your family. Summary Homework Must-do homework: Finish the worksheet. Optional homework: Review what we have learnt today and draw a mind map.
