教学目标
1. Talk about past events by using was/were doing and when/while properly; 2. Retell Kate’s experience logically; 3. Realize the importance of being on time and being patient.
教学内容
教学重点: 1. Listen for the questions and statements with the past progressive tense;
2. Have a command of the proper use of when and while.
教学难点: 1. Understand the speaker’s feelings by imitating;
2. Retell Kate’s story according to some key words.
教学过程
Step 1 Lead in Let’s talk: Think of a time when you were late for or couldn’t go to an event. Share the T’s own experience with the Ss to help them review the use of the past progressive tense and when/while. Step 2 Listening 1. Listen and choose Listen to the first part of the conversation between Kate and John and answer the following questions: (1) What event happened at the school yesterday (2) Who missed the event 2. Listen and complete Listen to the second part of the conversation and find out: How did Kate explain to John Complete the sentences. 3. Listen and answer Listen to the final part of the conversation and answer the following questions: (1) How did Kate help the dog (2) Why did Kate help the dog (3) Which team won at the competition 4. Listen and retell Listen to the whole conversation and try to retell Kate’s experience according to some key words. 5. Imitate and feel Imitate some sentences from the conversation and think about how John felt at fist and at last. Step 3 Speaking Think and say Get Ss to think about the following questions: (1) What do you think of Kate (2) If you were Kate, would you choose to help the dog or cheer John on (3) What can you learn from the Kate’s experience Step 4 Homework Fill in the blanks.
