In the summer after Maggie Doyne graduated(毕业) from high school, she decided to spend a year traveling all over the world before she started college. However, the journey(旅程) changed her life and she also changed the world.
In 2006, Doyne took a backpacking trip through the Himalayan Mountains in the country of Nepal that was destroyed by the war(战争). It covers an area of 1.8 million square kilometres, about a fifth of the national total. The river also provides a third of our country's fresh water resources. However, in recent years, this "mother river" has met with some environmental problems. It was seriously polluted and the number of the fish is getting smaller. To solve these problems, the government passed the Yangtze River Protection Law. The law came into force on March 1, 2021. There are nine parts in the law,covering areas such as resource protection, anti-pollution measures, green development and legal responsibilities.
