(A)(2023·成都中考改编)
Host: As we know, the British have been sending cards since the
19th century. They spend about 1,700,000,000 pounds on cards every year.
However, the number of people sending cards and letters is falling. More
than 30 percent of UK children have never sent or received a
handwritten letter. Should the tradition of sending cards and letters be
stopped
Group A: We live in a fast-developing world and using snail mail is unnecessary. Making paper uses lots of energy and some cards are hard to recycle. It's bad for environment. What's more, cards are expensive to buy and so is posting. Nowadays, we usually use our phones and computers because they are quick, easy and free. Traditional cards and letters are out of date. They are not young people's cup of tea. It's no surprise that most of them end up as litter. Group B:
The tradition has been around
for hundreds of years and should
stay. Sending a handwritten letter or
carefully chosen card shows that
you care. Phone messages and
emails are quick and easy, but they
seem to carry less feeling. Sending
letters is good for children because
it is a chance to practice writing
skills. Also, it's fun! Receiving post
makes you feel special and it's
important if someone lives far away
or is lonely—just imagine a
birthday without cards!
1.What's the discussion mainly about ( )
B
A.When the British send cards and letters.
B.Whether the British should keep the tradition.
C.Why the British like sending cards and letters.
D.How the kids in Britain like sending cards and letters.

A
A. B. C. D.
4.What does Group A think of sending cards ( )
C
A.Free but slow. B.Fast but expensive.
C.Wasteful and expensive. D.Slow but useful.
5.Which of the following facts directly caused the discussion ( )
B
A.People have different opinions.
B.Fewer British people send cards and letters.
C.The British spend too much money on cards and letters.
D.The UK children have never sent or received a handwritten letter.
(B)(2022·金华中考)
① Have you ever shown your photos on your favorite social media?
Or have you expressed your feelings and emotions on your online page
If yes, do you know what you have posted on the social medias can
cause problems you could not expect
②Cathy, who is going to be fifteen, posted online an invitation to
her birthday party with her address in it. And guess what! 500 people
came to the party, and some even broke the windows and plants, making
a total mess of the house. The girl's birthday party turned into a
nightmare(噩梦).
③Many teenagers think they know everything about social media,
and that such a thing could never happen to them. Studies show that
each year more than three million young people in the world get into
trouble because of their online activities.
④ So do remember these if you really want to share something
online.
⑤ Share with care! Not everyone will like what you write online.
Think before you post anything. You never know who sees your texts,
pictures or videos. Before clicking “post”,you should ask yourself,
“How will I feel if my family or teachers see this ” and “How might
this post be bad for me in five or ten years from now ”
⑥ Be polite when you write! Imagine someone is unfriendly in
real life. The same is true of online communication. No one likes it
when you “shout” in your messages. If you feel angry or frustrated while
you're writing a message, wait a bit. Read it again later and then send it.
⑦ Protect and respect! Never share your passwords with anyone.
It's not wise to post your home or email address online. Don't say bad
things about people. If you get messages like that or see them online,
talk to your parents or your teachers.
⑧I'd say none of these things promises 100% online safety, but each
will help you to be safer.

For years, it has been said that newspapers are at death's door. Each
of the past few years has seen many newspapers say goodbye to their
readers. But why is the situation so terrible for newspapers
Newspapers have a long history. The first newspaper was printed in
the 1600s. The industry experienced its most successful time in the early
20th century.
With the appearance of radio and TV, however, newspaper circulation
(发行量)began to fall. By the mid-20th century, radio and TV had
become so popular that people no longer had to depend on newspapers
for news. This was especially true for the latest news.
Afternoon newspapers were the first to suffer. More and more people
coming home from work turned on the TV, instead of opening a
newspaper. But generally, newspapers still managed to survive(生存).
Although they couldn't compete with TV in spreading the latest news,
they could provide in-depth reports that TV news could not.
But newspapers suffered another heavier blow in the 1990s. With the
appearance of the Internet, lots of information became free. Many
newspaper readers realized that they could conveniently read news online
for free. There seemed to be little reason any longer for them to pay for
a newspaper.
So what will the future of newspapers be like Will newspapers die
Maybe not. Many newspapers are now changing. Some are going digital
(数字化 ). Some are going even farther by taking the industry to
places it has never been to. After all, people still want the news. And
many agree that newspapers are important for in-depth news and opinions.
If newspapers were to completely disappear, there would be nothing to
take their place.
1.When was the first newspaper printed
It was printed ____________.
in the 1600s
2.How did newspapers manage to survive against competition from TV
They did it by__________________________________.

3.Why did newspapers suffer again in the 1990s

4.What does the writer think of the future of newspapers
