教学目标
1. 语言能力： 能认读、理解并运用: high/height, long/length,deep/depth, large/size等词汇，大数字的听说读写。 能熟练运用what, how相关的询问地理知识的疑问句，如"What's the highest mountain in the world "等询问世界之最并复习形容词的最高级， "How high is …？"等进行具体高度宽度面积等的追问。
2. 学习能力： 1. 能用英语表达数字，尤其是地理之最相关的大数字。 2. 能熟练运用形容词和副词的最高级。
教学内容
教学重点： 能熟练运用形容词和副词的最高级表达地理之最。能谈论并听懂大数字及单位。
教学难点： 能运用what开头的疑问句和how开头的疑问句对地理知识进行提问。能将最高级转化为比较级。 本单元以“人与自然”为主题，中心话题为geography facts。本节课选自人教版八年级下册Unit7，该课时为Section A（1a-2d）听说课型，以听说训练为主。有两段听力和一段对话，课文主要操练的是形容词的最高级，但在听力材料中也涉及到了最高级和比较级的转换。描述地理事实的时候，对学生也有一定的挑战，首先是如何读出大数字，注意单位；然后是形容词和相应的名词的使用，两种表达在课文中都有出现。综上所述，这堂课的容量其实是比较大的。
教学过程
Step 1 Lead-in Watch a video（设计意图： 吸引学生，使学生瞬间进入本课话题） Step 2 Presentation 1.Present the four places ,Qomolangma, The Caspian Sea, the Sahara, the Nile. 2.Learn to express: the highest mountain in the world, the biggest desert in the world, the deepest salt lake in the world, the longest river in the world（设计意图： 激活学生的形容词最高级的表达的已有知识） 3.Match the facts （学会观察用不同的形容词去表达不同的物体） 4.Learn to read large numbers （设计意图：学习读大数字，为后面听力和表达扫除障碍） Step 3 Listening（1b） 1.Listen and finish 1b. 2.比较级+and any other 可数名词单数= 最高级（设计意图）通过地理知识的比较，巩固最高级。通过比较级最高级的转换，锻炼学生的推断能力。对长大高深的形容词和名词的转换也能帮助学生进一步理解和运用不同的词性。 Step 4 Listening(2a&2b) Before listening, ask students to make predictions with the knowledge they already have.
