教学目标
By the end of this class, students will be able to 1. know about the features of a play. 2. learn the story of Hansel and Gretel. 3. infer the personalities of the characters. 4. predict the ending of the story reasonably.
教学内容
教学重点: 1. Get students to identify the text type according to their background knowledge and help them learn about the features of a play. 2. Get students to learn about the story by finding the main idea of each scene and important details. 教学难点: 1. Get students to infer the personalities of the characters by adding stage directions. 2. Get students to analyze the unusual things and predict the ending of the story reasonably.
教学过程
I. Lead-in 1. Show students some pictures and get them to talk about the stories they think of. 2. Lead in the story we are going to learn today—Hansel and Gretel. II. Reading 1.Fast reading 1) Ask students to look through the passage and find out the text type of it. Is it a letter, a play, a short story or something else Ask students about the reasons. 2) Introduce two of the features of a play: There are different scenes in a play. The text is in conversations. The scenes and conversations show us the plots of play. 2. Careful reading 1) Tell students that there is usually background introduction at the beginning of a play. Ask students to read the part and guess: What will you probably read 2) Get student to talk about what background information they may get and then ask them to find the answers. 3) Tell students that a dramatic conflict is also the feature of a play. 4) Ask students how many scenes there are in this play and then match each description with the correct scene. Check answers with students and ask them why. 5) Ask students to read again and answer the following questions: What was Hansel’s plan in scene 1 Did it work Why did he have to change the plan Did his new plan work 3. Post reading 1) Ask students to fill in the words to complete the summary of the story. 2) Lead students to think: If you want to act the play out. What is missing in the play Then show students examples of stage directions. At the same time, get students to think about the personalities of the characters. 3) Show students the last scene, get students to listen and guess: What can the old woman be Is she a common woman Then ask students to think about a possible ending of the story. III. Summary Lead students to summarize what we have learned in this class. IV. Homework 1. Write an ending about the story. 2. Act out the play (tones, feelings, body language, etc.). 3.
