教学目标
At the end of class, students will be able to: Understand and use new words and phrases such as“southeast,wonderful,holiday,quarter,three quarters, population,simply”. Apply sentence structures like“a wonderful place to take a holiday, on the one hand, on the other hand, three quarters of the population,an English-speaking country, a good place to practise your English,an excellent place to try new food”. Practice reading skills such as predicting, skimming and municate with group members actively in English. Know the facts about Singapore and draw the mind map (places of interest, food, language and location. Summarize different ways of advertising a place and try to introduce their hometowns.
教学内容
教学重点: Sudents will be guided to: Understand and use new words and phrases such as“southeast,wonderful,holiday,quarter,three quarters, population,simply”. Apply sentence structures like“a wonderful place to take a holiday, on the one hand, on the other hand, three quarters of the population,an English-speaking country, a good place to practise your English,an excellent place to try new food”. Practice reading skills such as skimming and scanning.
教学难点: Students may find it difficult to Know the facts about Singapore and draw the mind map (places of interest, food, language and location. Summarize different ways of advertising a place and try to introduce their hometowns.
教学过程
Step 1: Pre-reading Warming-up T: lead in with a video and some pictures about Singapore and explain some new words & phrases. S: Read the video and pictures carefully and share what they know about Singapore. To elicit the topic and involve the Ss. (阅读前排除疑难单词,支搭脚手架,降低阅读难度) Step2: While-reading Skimming T: 1.Ask Ss to read the whole passage quickly and figure out the facts and main idea of each paragraph. (Give Ss a tip: refer to the key words of each paragraph.) S: Read quickly. (To develop the reading skill of skimming.) Scanning T: Ask Ss to read the passage again and think about the questions. 1.Why does the writer write this passage 2. Who does the passage write for 3. How does the writer advertise Singapore S: Scan for the detailed information about the ways of advertising. (To develop the reading skill of scanning.) Step 3 Post-reading Group Work T: 1. Ask Ss to focus on the title of the pasaage and choose a title for introducing Hangzhou. Ask Ss to complete the mind map of introducing Hangzhou. Ask students to write an ad for Hangzhou. S: Four Ss as one group to introduce Hangzhou and ask one to give the presentation. (To consolidate what Ss have learned in the lesson and to encourage Ss to express their own ideas.)
