1.It is the parents' job to provide a clean and comfortable
environment at home for their children. 在家中给他们的孩子提供一个
干净、舒适的环境是家长们的事情。
provide是及物动词，表示“提供；供应”，后可接名词或代词作宾语，
具体用法如下。
用法 含义 例句
provide sb.with sth. 给某人提 供某物 Sheep provide us with wool. 绵羊给
我们提供羊毛。
provide sth. for sb. The hotel provides a shoe-cleaning
service for guests. 该宾馆为客人提供
擦鞋服务。
【拓展】offer sth.to sb./offer sb.sth. 表示“为某人提供某物” 2....everyone should do their part in keeping it clean and
tidy. ……每个人都有责任保持家里的干净和整洁。
（1）do one's part 表示“尽职责；尽本分”，do one's part in doing
sth. 表示“在做某事上尽职责”。
例：She did her part in finishing the work. 她尽职尽责地完成了
这项工作。
（2）“keep+sth./sb.+adj.”表示“使……处于某种状态”。
例：Her mother asked her to keep the windows open and the
door closed. 她妈妈叫她把窗户打开，把门关上。
（3）keep作系动词时表示“保持”，后接形容词作表语；作行为动
词时表示“保持；继续”，keep （on） doing sth. 表示“继续做某事”。
例：We must keep healthy. 我们必须保持健康。
The soldier was in great pain but he kept on moving forward. 这
名士兵忍着剧痛继续前进。
3. As a result，he often fell ill and his grades dropped. 结果，他
常常生病，功课也落下了。
（1）as a result表示“结果”，作插入语，放在句首，用逗号与句子
的其他部分隔开。
例：This term，I study very hard. As a result，I get good grades.
这个学期，我学习很努力，结果我取得了很好的成绩。
（2）fall ill （=be ill） 表示“生病”。
4.The earlier kids learn to be independent，the better it is for
their future. 孩子们越早学会独立，对他们的未来就越好。
“the+比较级+…，the+比较级+…”表示“越……，就越……”。
例：The more you smile，the happier you will feel. 你笑得越多，
就感觉越开心。
