阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Eva spent the first week of high school trying to keep her head above water. One of the major headaches for her was finding her way in the huge school building. It was a six-story building. On each floor, hallways stretched in four directions, leading to classrooms, laboratories, and teachers’ offices. Somewhere in the building, there was also a library, a cafeteria, and a gym.
Having a poor sense of direction, Eva found it impossible to get around in such a huge building. All the different hallways and rooms were too much to think about, let alone commit to memory. She decided that she would memorize where her classes were and then pretend that the rest of the place didn’t exist.
In her first PE class, Eva was shocked when Coach Pitt announced that everyone had to run one mile around the track outside. She searched the faces of her classmates for signs of panic. There was nothing she feared more than having to run a whole mile. To Eva, “a mile” was used to describe long distances. It was ten miles from her home to her grandfather’s, and that always seemed like a long way, even in a car!
When Coach Pitt blew his whistle(哨子), Eva figured she would be left in the dust. However, while some of her classmates edged ahead, others actually fell behind. ” It’s just the beginning, “she thought.” I’ll come in last for sure. “
Soon Eva began to breathe hard, with her heart pounding and legs shaking. Feeling desperate, Eva started using a mind trick on herself. She stopped thinking about the word” mile. “Instead, she focused on reaching the shadow cast on the track by an oak tree up ahead. Then she concentrated on jogging to the spot where the track curved(拐弯). After that, she tried to see if she could complete her first lap. One lap turned into two, then three, then four.

【续写简析】
【解读文本】本文以人物为线索展开,讲述了高中生Eva在新学校的挣扎,她发现自己无法在庞大的学校建筑中找到方向,经常在学校里迷路。文章开头写道:“Eva spent the first week of high school trying to keep her head above water.”这句话表明了她在新学校的第一周的困难处境。在故事发展中,Eva面对了在体育课上跑一英里的挑战。文章写道:“Eva was shocked when Coach Pitt announced that everyone had to run one mile around the track outside.”这句话展示了她面临的挑战,以及她对此感到震惊的心情。Eva的内心斗争体现在她对长距离跑步的恐惧和在庞大的学校建筑中的迷失感。文章写道:“There was nothing she feared more than having to run a whole mile.”和“Having a poor sense of direction, Eva found it impossible to get around in such a huge building.”这两句话突出了她的挑战。文章的高潮是当Eva决定采取新的心理策略来克服挑战。她通过将跑步距离分解成更小的目标,逐步完成每一圈来克服她的恐惧。文章写道:“Feeling desperate, Eva started using a mind wick on herself. She stopped thinking about the word 'mile.' Instead, she focused on reaching the shadow east on the track by an oak tree up ahead.”故事以Eva成功完成了跑步任务而结束。她最终克服了自己的心理障碍,完成了挑战。文章写道:“One lap turned into two, then three, then four.”
When Coach Pitt said “Nice work!” to her at the finish line, Eva was surprised. In the vast expanse of her school, a girl with poor directional skills struggled to navigate and often got lost. One day, during gym class, she observed a unique way to find her way—following the shadows of trees. As the sun cast its rays, the girl noticed how the shadows created patterns on the ground, guiding her path. She took a leap of faith and followed the shadows, surprising herself with each turn and stretch. Her efforts were noticed by the teacher, who praised her innovative thinking.
Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building. She used the shadows to navigate the school hallways, find her classes, and even locate the school's various facilities. This newfound skill not only helped the girl navigate her school but also instilled in her a sense of confidence and adventure. She learned excitedly that with a little creativity and observation, any challenge could be overcome. And with each step she took, she left behind a legacy of inspiration for those who followed in her footsteps, knowing that even without a clear sense of direction, there's always a way to find one’s way.

When I was in middle school, my social studies teacher asked me to enter a writing contest. I said no without thinking. I did not love writing. My family came from Brazil, so English was only my second language. Writing was so difficult and painful for me that my teacher had allowed me to present my paper on the sinking of the Titanic by acting out a play, where I played all the parts. No one laughed harder than he did.
So, why did he suddenly force me to do something at which I was sure to fail His reply: “Because I love your stories. If you’re willing to apply yourself, I think you have a good shot at this.” Encouraged by his words, I agreed to give it a try.
I chose Paul Revere’s horse as my subject. Paul Revere was a silversmith(银匠)in Boston who rode a horse at night on April 18, 1775 to Lexington to warn people that British soldiers were coming. My story would come straight from the horse’s mouth. Not a brilliant idea, but funny; and unlikely to be anyone else’s choice.
What did the horse think, as he sped through the night Did he get tired Have doubts Did he want to quit I sympathized immediately. I got tired. I had doubts. I wanted to quit. But, like Revere’s horse, I kept going. I worked hard. I checked my spelling. I asked my older sister to correct my grammar. I checked out a half dozen books on Paul Revere from the library. I even read a few of them.
When I handed in the essay to my teacher, he read it, laughed out loud, and said, “Great. Now, write it again.” I wrote it again, and again and again. When I finally finished it, the thought of winning had given way to the enjoyment of writing. If I didn’t win, I wouldn’t care.

A few weeks later, when I almost forgot the contest, there came the news. I was informed that I won the first prize in the writing contest and that there would be an award presentation in two days. I was so happy to hear the news that I immediately shared it with my teacher. “I knew you’d win! I am proud of you. You made it!” he said excitedly. Then came the big day. When I was invited to the stage to receive the award, I expressed my thanks to my teacher. I said, “It’s you who make me fall in love with writing, my social studies teacher. Without your recognition and guidance, I couldn’t have written this article. Again thank you very much!”
I went to my teacher’s office after the award presentation. My teacher was waiting for me. Holding my hands, he said “Congratulations! You are a good writer, so keep writing.” “You know I didn’t like writing before, but now I am crazy about it! I will try my best to create good works.” I said seriously. Since then, I have written many good works and now I am a famous writer. I owe my success to my social teacher who is a beacon in my life on the road to writing.

It was the day of the big cross-country run. Students from seven different primary schools in and around the small town were warming up and walking the route(路线)through thick evergreen forest.
I looked around and finally spotted David, who was standing by himself off to the side by a fence. He was small for ten years old. His usual big toothy smile was absent today. I walked over and asked him why he wasn’t with the other children. He hesitated and then said he had decided not to run.
What was wrong He had worked so hard for this event!
I quickly searched the crowd for the school’s coach and asked him what had happened. “I was afraid that kids from other schools would laugh at him,” he explained uncomfortably. “I gave him the choice to run or not, and let him decide.”
I bit back my frustration(懊恼). I knew the coach meant well—he thought he was doing the right thing. After making sure that David could run if he wanted, I turned to find him coming towards me, his small body rocking from side to side as he swung his feet forward.
David had a brain disease which prevented him from walking or running like other children, but at school his classmates thought of him as a regular kid. He always participated to the best of his ability in whatever they were doing. That was why none of the children thought it unusual that David had decided to join the cross-country team. It just took him longer—that’s all. David had not missed a single practice, and although he always finished his run long after the other children, he did always finish. As a special education teacher at the school, I was familiar with the challenges David faced and was proud of his strong determination.

【答案】
We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn’t look at me. He hung his head, trying to avoid eye contact with me. It was a tricky moment, calling for a good choice of words. Having thought it over, I mentioned some events which won people’s praise for his determination and perseverance. His face began to lighten. He added that even the judges thumbed up at him. The whistle went off and the competitors began to take their places. To my joy, David slowly rose to his feet.
I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. David stood firmly in his position, ignoring anything around. Pushing forward without balance, he was left behind. However, when he came into sight, the spectators burst into thunderous cheers and applause. Inspired by the enthusiasm and encouragement, David quickened his pace in high spirits. It turned out that he achieved his best record ever. Seeing his confident smiles, I sighed in relief. With the power to conquer himself, he could conquer anything on the way to a promising future.

A MOTHER’S DAY SURPRISE
The twins were filled with excitement as they thought of the surprise they were planning for Mother’s Day. How pleased and proud Mother would be when they brought her breakfast in bed. They planned to make French toast and chicken porridge. They had watched their mother in the kitchen. There was nothing to it. Jenna and Jeff knew exactly what to do.
The big day came at last. The alarm rang at 6 a.m. The pair went down the stairs quietly to the kitchen. They decided to boil the porridge first. They put some rice into a pot of water and left it to boil while they made the French toast. Jeff broke two eggs into a plate and added in some milk. Jenna found the bread and put two slices into the egg mixture. Next, Jeff turned on the second stove burner to heat up the frying pan. Everything was going smoothly until Jeff started frying the bread. The pan was too hot and the bread turned black within seconds. Jenna threw the burnt piece into the sink and put in the other slice of bread. This time, she turned down the fire so it cooked nicely.
Then Jeff noticed steam shooting out of the pot and the lid starting to shake. The next minute, the porridge boiled over and put out the fire. Jenna panicked. Thankfully, Jeff stayed calm and turned off the gas quickly. But the stove was a mess now. Jenna told Jeff to clean it up so they could continue to cook the rest of the porridge. But Jeff’s hand touched the hot burner and he gave a cry of pain. Jenna made him put his hand in cold water. Then she caught the smell of burning. Oh dear! The piece of bread in the pan had turned black as well.

During this past year, I’ve had three instances of car trouble. Each time these things happened, I was sick of the way most people hadn’t bothered to help. One of those times, I was on the side of the road for close to three hours with my big Jeep. I put signs in the windows, big signs that said NEED A JACK(千斤顶), and offered
money. Nothing. Right as I was about to give up, a Mexican family in a small truck pulled over, and the father bounded out.
He sized up the situation and called for his daughter, who spoke English. He conveyed through her that he had a jack but that it was too small for the Jeep, so we would need something to support it. Then he got a saw(锯子)from the truck and cut a section out of a big log on the side of the road. We rolled it over and put his jack on top, and we were in business.
I started taking the wheel off, and then, if you can believe it, I broke his tire iron. No worries: He handed it to his wife, and she was gone in a flash down the road to buy a new tire iron. She was back in 15 minutes. We finished the job, and I was a very happy man.
The two of us were dirty and sweaty. His wife prepared a pot of water for us to wash our hands. I tried to put a $20 bill in the man’s hand, but he wouldn’t take it, so instead I went up to the truck and gave it to his wife as quietly as I could. I asked the little girl where they lived. Mexico, she said. They were in Oregon so Mommy and Daddy could work on a fruit farm for the next few weeks. Then they would go home.

When I was about to say goodbye, the girl asked if I’d had lunch(就在我要说再见的时候,女孩问我是否吃过午饭了)及时间线索词When可知,第一段可描写作者和墨西哥家庭一块儿吃午饭的过程。设问如下:
①What was my reply about lunch

When I was about to say goodbye, the girl asked if I’d had lunch. I told her I hadn’t had lunch because I’d been waiting here for help for nearly three hours. The girl said they didn’t have lunch either. She suggested to her parents that we have lunch together. Their truck happened to have some food and some things for the picnic. So we ate together in a vacant lot by the side of the road. During that time, I told about what had happened to me and how I felt. They shared interesting stories about their lives in Mexico and on fruit farms. After lunch, the girl’s mother put a paper bag of fruit in my jeep. I showed my gratitude again and we said goodbye to each other.
After they left, I got into my jeep and opened the paper bag. In it are some delicate fruits. I was surprised to find the money I had quietly left them. At the same time, there was a note written by a girl, which read “We are very happy to be able to help you. We have encountered many difficulties and been disappointed. But we met a lot of helpful people, which made us feel very warm. To help others with one’s own ability is also a kind of lifting a finger.” This made me very moved, and I would try my best to help more people in the future to make our world more beautiful and warmer.
附录:另一版本范文赏析,以供考试遣词造句、精心打磨时参考
When I was about to say goodbye, the girl asked if I'd had lunch. Her words reminded me of my empty stomach. I'm ashamed to say we didn’t. ①She quickly brought me some solid food and then led us to the back of their truck with loads of fruits in it. ② It suddenly occurred to me that I could buy as much fruit as possible to express my thanks instead of giving money. So I asked the little girl if I could buy some fruit. She nodded with smile but the man and his wife immediately passed me a large bottle of fresh fruit juicy. ③It was just at this moment that I cannot help showing my appreciation for their generosity and kindness. ④When I was about to leave, the girl’s mother warmly sent me a paper bag. Never had I seen so kind a family before. I showed my great thanks again from the bottom of my heart and we waved goodbye to each other.
After they left, I got into my Jeep and opened the paper bag. ⑤To my surprise, inside was the $20 bill I gave to the mother just now. ⑥At the same time, there was a note written by a girl, which read “We have only done something we should. Thanks for having a good day with you today, my dear friend.” ⑦With tears in my eyes, I started a car, thinking that I would never forget such an aid and determined to offer a hand to whoever needed help in the future.
本文按照一定的时间顺序进行动作描写,文章层次清楚,上下文连贯。
①用and并列两个分句,使用with复合结构;
②使用句型It suddenly occurred to me that和短语as much fruit as及instead of,突出动作节奏感;
③应用强调句突出感情线描写;
④用时间状语从句推动以时间顺序的故事发展;
⑤巧用倒装句激发故事高潮;
⑥At the same time连贯上下句,使用过去分词written by a girl和which引导从句作定语描写场景,适当借用直接引语体现故事真实感;
⑦精准用独立主格结构作状语,分词thinking,determined渲染故事主题。

(2024届江西省吉安市一中高三下学期一模)Isla and I were studying in the same school. We had been friends since we were six years old. I took Isla as a smart, funny friend, but not all students at our school did, especially the girl students. Girls in our school wore fashionable branded clothes, but Isla sewed hers and her curly hair and thick glasses made her look like a fish, which made her stand out like a sore thumb(招眼).
For me, sometimes I felt embarrassed to be around Isla, particularly when students said rude words about her hair, clothes, glasses—even about the fact that she got really good grades. Isla always seemed to be able to ignore what other students thought, but I couldn’t. I began to distance myself from her.
Our school had a tradition—there was a talent show every spring. Students would sing, dance, play musical instruments, and do whatever they could to show their talents. Being our graduation season in this senior school, this year’s talent show would be obviously different. It would be a huge night.
Ava, who was an outgoing girl, invited me to be on her dance team. “We win the talent show every year, and we expect a satisfactory graduation this year,” Ava said to me excitedly. “We need a new dancer. But only you, not her!” Ava pointed to someone behind me.
I didn’t need to turn around to see who she meant. “Oh, I see,” I said quietly. Ava had hardly headed out when someone tapped on my shoulder. It was Isla. When I saw her confused face, it was like waking up from a dream. Isla asked me eagerly, “Emily, are you going to take part in the talent show ” I hesitated without response. “That’s great, Emily!” Isla told me without waiting for my answer that she was also going to participate this year. I couldn’t believe what I had heard. I started to worry about her when I imagined that she was in front of a huge crowd, and that everybody would laugh at her.
Time passed quickly, and I had barely seen Isla since then. For me, I had to practice hard every day with Ava and the team to keep up since the other dancers had already known the steps.

Ultimately, it was my turn to perform, and I felt extremely nervous. I didn’t want to be regarded as different from the others. Isla walked to me and hugged me tightly. “Come on, Emily!” Isla encouraged me. “I believe you will do great because you are a wonderful dancer. Don’t care too much about what others think. Just trust yourself.” Soon, I took my place on the stage. I remembered every step and every move. When the music was over, the crowd burst into cheers. At that moment, I felt like a dancing queen!
I stepped off the stage and expressed my thanks to Isla, who was ready to sing. I was a little worried at the beginning because the crowd became restless. Luckily, Isla ignored it. I stood up, shouting, “Isla, you are the best!” Her homemade dress was shining in the light, but her eyes were clouded with tears. When Isla’s singing died down, all the students were still lost in her unique voice. Some even began singing like her, and then more. Their singing resounded around the hall. I rushed to the stage after her performance, hugging her cheerfully. That was enough! We could never be distanced.

(安徽省滁州市高三下学期第二次教学质量检测)Steven Green was a hardworking man who worked all his life to support his family. He never finished college, so he had to take hard labor jobs around the neighborhood. He worked as a builder and a carpenter through the years. He often helped his neighbors whenever needed. However, as he grew older, he could no longer do these jobs. His knees grew weak, and his health condition made it difficult for him to do difficult jobs.
Steven’s kids didn’t live in the same state as him and could only send him a little money because they also led a poor life. Unfortunately, Steven experienced constant physical pain after doing hard labor jobs for years, and he needed to take medicine every day. The money his kids offered was only enough for food, and his savings were small. Realizing that he needed more money, Steven decided to get a job again. Finally, he found a job as a doorkeeper. At first, his salary was enough to pay for the groceries and the medicine he needed. However, due to his advanced age, he started to need more medicine, and it cost a whole lot.
To pay the growing bills, Steven began to take things from his home to a second-hand store to get some money. One day, as he was carrying an old radio to the store, his neighbor, Ben, saw him. “Mr. Green, it’s so good to see you! How have you been ” Ben asked. “I’m doing great. I’m just selling couple of things I no longer use at home for some cash. Being weak is terrible when you’re old, so take care of yourself when you are young, alright ” he said almost jokingly. Ben nodded.
“Thanks for the tip, Mr. Green!” he said before waving goodbye. That same day, Steven was cooking dinner when he heard the doorbell ring. He wasn’t expecting anyone, so he curiously walked towards the door.

Surprisingly, he saw Ben standing there with a jacket in his arms. “Earlier today, I noticed you weren’t wearing a jacket. It’s getting cold these days, so I want to give you this jacket as a gift,” Ben said, handing Steven the coat. Steven accepted the gift and thanked Ben a lot. The next day, Steven wore the jacket to work. Feeling cold, he put his hands inside the pockets. Then he found there was something inside. To his surprise, it was a check for $ 200!
“Ben must have forgotten about the check inside the pocket,” Steven thought. He then went to Ben’s house. “I believe this is yours,” Steven said, showing Ben the check. But Ben shook his head and said the check was Steven’s. Seeing Steven’s confused face, Ben explained Steven had helped his mom a lot and that he had never had a chance to repay Steven’s kindness before. Therefore, when he realized Steven needed help, he decided to reach out. Hearing those words, Steven was so touched that he hugged Ben tightly.

(2024届云南省高三下学期333高考备考诊断性联考二)As a journalist, I have had the chance to meet some remarkable people in different fields, but no one has impressed me more than Austin Riley.
Austin Riley is a race car driver. He has been attracting crowds to the race track for years. But his claim to fame isn’t just being fast on the speedway. He is overcoming difficulties on the track for those with disabilities. Riley has autism (自闭症). Simple tasks like tying his shoes are extremely complicated for him, but when put in a race car—a complex, delicate piece of machine —he will take you by surprise.
I first met Riley and his father Jason in 2014, in Uxbridge, Ontario, at the local go-cart track. I still remember how excited Riley was to have me and my cameraman there filming his every move. He was a go-cart racer then. He could barely talk to me, let alone look at me. No matter how quiet and shy he was, I knew this kid was going to be something big.
The go-cart track is where Riley’s racing career began. His dad, Jason, just wanted to give him something to focus his energy on. Riley has always loved cars. He has been crazy about them since he was a very young child. He also loves speed. The minute he hit the gas, his mind began to move fast and everything felt in sync(同步).
Riley’s journey on the track soon took him from fast go-carts to really fast cars. He became the first person with autism in Canada to get his race car licence. It opened up the track for Riley to drive in the big leagues — the Radical Motorsports circuit. Riley is now racing across North America, putting him on the podium(领奖台) almost every time.

However, behind every success for Riley and his family is a story of hardship. On the one hand, Riley had to accept rehealthy training. He improved his interpersonal skills and developed a positive and optimistic attitude. On the other hand, he worked hard to learn the theory of racing, underwent intensive training and boosted racing skills through frequent competitions. His parents sacrificed a lot to keep him racing. It was expensive. A weekend tournament could cost tens of thousands of dollars, not including travel, food and hotels. Their fund came from some sponsors, donations, commercial sales and podium wins.
Riley has also made a difference off the track. He launched an education campaign named “Racing with Autism”. He hosted hundreds of presentations, telling kids, teachers and parents about his story. Families with children with autism felt if Riley could do what he was doing, their kids would have a chance too. Riley often tells me he wants to change the world. “I feel very happy and proud of what I’m doing …Because, yes, I’m a racer and yes, I love racing, but I’m doing it to change the world,” he says, “My heart is changing the world.”

(2024届河北省沧州市部分学校高三下学期一模)When I woke up, I felt pains all over. A pool of sticky blood surrounded my head. I lay trapped in the bottom of n smooth-walled pit (坑) with an empty water bottle.
I thought of what had happened. I was climbing down the mountain as I was admiring the beautiful scenery. Accidentally. I stepped on a loose rock. Then I slipped, fell with the rock and got stuck somewhere below the top. It was getting dark in the pit. Only my mother knew where I’d gone. I promised to have lunch with her. Thinking of this. I took my phone out and dialed her number with shaking fingers. No service. The silence, which earlier I’d valued, was now horrible.
With a sharp pain in my head, I was terrified. I knew I’d fallen far, but I wasn’t sure where I was. I called 911 because I knew by the pain that my back was severely injured, if not broken. My ear was torn badly. There was still no service. I dug through my bag to assess my supplies and found a whistle and some wipes.
I put the whistle around my neck and blew, though I knew no one would hear me. It was 1:15 pm and I was miles from the town where I lived. I used the wipes to clean off as much blood as I could. I rested. Then I screamed, blew my whistle, and let myself think the unthinkable. What if they can’t find me What if this is it
I decided to get moving. I climbed through a small opening, but when I peered over the next edge, my heart sank: there was a 30-foot drop. There was no way down. I was trapped.
I knew with that extreme Arizona heat in the day and bitter desert cold at night, I wouldn’t last long. But I thought my mother was sure to call the police for help if she couldn’t get in touch with me. With a little hope, I prayed the police would send a helicopter(直升机)to my rescue.

Around five hours later, a growing buzz(嗡嗡声)in the air broke the silence. Rescue was coming. I couldn’t look too far up because moving my back was impossible, so I got on my knees and whistled. The helicopter flew close to me, and the motor drowned out my calls for help. They flew over me once, twice, four times and they still could not see me, although I was waving my arms wildly. At that moment, I felt so disappointed. Then, just as it was starting to get dark, the helicopter passed and I locked eyes with one of the men inside. He pointed right at me.
Though the pilot saw me, it was difficult for the team to get to me. They tried different rescue techniques. Eventually, one crew member came down and tied a rope around my waist and I was finally dragged into the helicopter. I was saved. The rescuers told me how my mother had contacted the police and how community members joined the search. Three hours from the start of the search, everyone was celebrating my return. But from then on, my mother never let me act alone.

(2024届湖南省岳阳市高三下学期教学质量监测二)For many, an act of kindness is its own reward. But Eva Hachey found her selflessness answered in ways she could never have imagined.
For weeks, Eva Hachey had imagined adopting a golden Chihuahua with a white spot on its forehead. And there he was, at her local SPCA in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The dog had been abused by his previous owners and was timid. “He’d come to me, then back away and growl, then come back to me,” Hachey said. “After 15 minutes, the attendant picked him up and put him in my lap. He started giving me kisses. He stole my heart in that moment.” She adopted the ten-month-old puppy on the spot and named him Bruno.
Bruno lived happily with Hachey and her 35-year-old daughter, Angel Hutchinson, for five months. Then, on the evening of September 26, 2016, Hachey, 52 at the time, returned home as usual at 8 p. m. from her job as a chiropractic assistant and office manager. And as usual, she ate supper in front of the TV in the living room. Around 10:30, a friend called, just as Bruno went into Hutchinson’s room to go to sleep for the night. Hachey and her friend chatted a bit, and as Hachey hung up, she noticed the time was 11:08.
“The next thing I remember was a male voice saying, ‘Eva, Eva, wake up.’ It was an emergency doctor,” said Hachey. “I looked around, and the room was just full of people. And I said, ‘What are you doing in my house ’”
What they were doing was saving her life. By the time Hachey had hung up with her friend, Hutchinson was fast asleep in her bedroom and Bruno was in his usual spot next to her under the blankets. Hachey believed Bruno heard something odd then and possibly went to the living room to investigate.

Unexpectedly, Bruno ran back to the bedroom and tried every means to awaken Hutchinson. He barked and jumped on and off the bed. When that didn’t work, he attacked Hutchinson’s fleshy skin between her fingers. Finally, Hutchinson woke up and was immediately led into the living room, only to discover Hatchey passed out in the chair. She had almost stopped breathing and was apparently in danger. Without hesitation, Hutchson lifted her head up so her mother could breathe, and dialed 911 on her cell. The ambulance finally arrived and Hatche y was rushed to the hospital. It turned out that she suffered a stroke and would have died without the quick response.
A year later, Hachey finally fully recovered. Recalling the experience, she was convinced that being found so quickly after the attack was the key factor in helping her survive. She owed it to Bruno, saying that it was he that saved her life. “I never imagined he would save my life when I adopted him. I do believe the animal will pick us and I am lucky he chose me.” Hatchey gazed at Bruno and stroked his fur gently, smiling contentedly.
