Autism(自闭症) is a mental disorder that affects children, particularly their ability to relate to other people. Having a child with autism adds an additional learning curve to parenting. And parents with kids with autism know just how beautiful and cruel it can be because they aren’t kids who fit into society’s typical mold(模式). It simply means that parents, friends, strangers, caregivers, neighbors, and teachers need to find different ways to create a supportive community because every individual with autism is uniquely different. Daniel, who has autism, recently wrote down his wish and Kevin, Daniel’s father, shared that because of his son’s autism. Daniel typically prefers to play alone. In fact, throughout his entire childhood Daniel never once asked to go play with friends. But this year, Daniel made a special birthday wish. The request floored and shocked his father because Daniel’s birthday wish was to make a few friends.
Kevin often shares updates about Daniel on social media in hope of recording his life. He is clearly aware that social skill training is important and difficult to autism children. After he learned of his son’s birthday wishes, he eagerly wanted to make Daniel’s birthday just a little sweeter.
On social media, he wrote, “Daniel is my son. Profoundly Autistic, he hasn’t one single friend. It’s his birthday today.” He posted his son’s written birthday wish and politely asked others to put in and wish his son a happy birthday. A dad’s heartfelt birthday wish for his son is the most beautiful story you will find, and this one is taking over the Internet.

Ⅱ.读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写词数应为150左右。
An eight-year-old child heard her parents talking about her little brother. All she knew was that he was very sick, and they had no money left. They were moving to a smaller house because they could not afford to stay in the present house after paying the doctor’s bills. Only a very costly surgery could save him now and there was no one to loan money to them.
When she heard her father say to her tearful mother in despair, “Only a miracle can save him now,” the little girl went to her bedroom and pulled her piggy bank from its hiding place in the closet. She poured all the change out on the floor and counted it carefully.
Holding the precious piggy bank tightly, she came to the local drugstore. She took a quarter from her bank and placed it on the glass counter.
“And what do you want ” asked the pharmacist(药剂师).“It’s for my little brother,” the girl answered.“He’s really, really sick and I want to buy a miracle.”
“His name is Andrew and he has something bad inside his head. My father says only a miracle can save him. So how much does a miracle cost ”
“We don’t sell it here, child. I’m sorry,” the pharmacist said, smiling sadly at the little girl.
“Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn’t enough, I can try to get some more. Just tell me how much it costs.”
In the drugstore, a well-dressed customer, asked the little girl,“What kind of a miracle does your brother need ” That well-dressed man was Dr Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specialising in neurosurgery(神经外科).
“I don’t know,” she replied, “he’s really sick and my father can’t pay for an operation. So I have brought my savings.”
“How much do you have ” asked the man.“One dollar and eleven cents,” the girl answered bitterly.
“Well, what a coincidence,” smiled the man.“A dollar and eleven cents—the exact price of a miracle for your little brother.”

参考答案
Ⅰ.Dear friends,
I am delighted to exchange views about graduation celebrations. In my school, the biggest event, no doubt, is the graduation ceremony, usually held after the College Entrance Examination.
The ceremony starts with an address by the head teacher. Then comes the presentation of the diploma. The highlight is to appreciate a short video recording the past school life, which often moves us students into tears. The event is also a special occasion to express our appreciation to the teachers.
For further information about the event, you are welcome to visit our school website. I do hope you will enjoy it.
Thank you!
Ⅱ. Kevindidn’trealizethissimplerequestofkindnesswouldspreadsowidely. He got more than 17,000 likes and a whole heap of heartfelt birthday wishes. In fact, Daniel received thousands of heartfelt birthday wishes. Among the kind outpouring of birthday wishes, Kevin was surprised some celebrities even took a moment to say Happy Birthday. The majority of the birthday wishes came from other parents of children with autism. A dad posted a photo with his son and this caption, “Hey Daniel, this is my son Jacob, also autistic, on his birthday last month. I’m sure he would love to be your friend if you met. Hope you had a wonderful day.”
Kevinreflectedwhytherewassuchapositiveresponseforsuchasimplerequest. As the comments, photos, and birthday wishes continued to pour in, he realized that people want to be loved and to be liked and that it’s a usual feeling. He wanted to remind us all: “Don’t ever feel like you’re alone. Because I felt like that, and I also like other families will.” People are created to love and be loved. This story proves we are never alone and it doesn’t take much to show a little compassion and kindness to others. It goes to show no matter how uniquely present we are, we are never alone.
Ⅰ.Dear Peter,
How is everything going on with you recently I’m more than glad to receive your letter asking me for help. In fact, it’s a great honour for me to introduce some classical Chinese poems to you. The following are my arrangements for it.
Firstly, let’s fix a time when both of us are available. What about this Saturday afternoon In addition, there is no doubt that the People’s Park is an excellent place to learn classical Chinese poems, which is not far away from my home and yours. If it’s not convenient for you, please tell me to make necessary adjustments.
Looking forward to your instant reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
Ⅱ. DrArmstrongtookhermoneyandthentheyheadedforthegirl’shome. After introducing himself to the little girl’s parents, Dr Armstrong headed directly for Andrew’s room, where a weak and pale little boy lay in the bed. Smiling gently towards the boy, Armstrong whispered,“Your sister bought you a miracle which would soon chase away the monster in your brain!” Shooting a grateful look at his sister and Dr Armstrong, Andrew smiled. Two days later, the boy was transferred to Dr Armstrong’s department where a 5-hour operation was conducted.

As their parents received the bill which read “Zero Dollar for the operation”, they both shook their head in pleasant disbelief and thanked Dr Armstrong many times. The girl also planted a sweet kiss on Armstrong’s cheek. The grateful and joyous family finally understood that a miracle was not something that could be bought with money, but occurred when kind and generous strangers listened with care and helped out without asking for anything in return.
