A doctor, a lawyer, a little boy and a priest (牧师) were out for a Sunday afternoon flight on a small plane. Suddenly, the plane had engine trouble. It started to go down. At last, the pilot took a parachute (降落伞) and shouted to the four people that they had better jump, and then he himself jumped out. Unluckily, there were only three parachutes left.
The doctor took one and said, “I’m a doctor. I save lives, so I must live.” Then he jumped out.

One day a big red hen (母鸡) is playing with her chickens in the garden. After some time, she wants to eat something and she takes her chickens out to look for food.
When they are eating, she finds a grain of wheat (小麦). So she asks her chickens to plant it in the back garden. But no one wants to do it. The big red hen has to do it herself.
After a few months, they get a lot of wheat. She says to her chickens, “Who will take the wheat to the store and get some flour ” But they don’t want to do it. So she takes the wheat to the store and brings the flour home.
After she gets home, she says, “Who will make some bread with the flour ” They all say they are too busy and don’t want to do it.
When she makes the bread, she says to her chickens, “Who wants to eat the bread ”
“I will,” they say.

Once upon a time, there was a little girl called Nüwa.
One day, when Nüwa went boating on the Eastern Sea, a strong wind rose on the sea and her boat capsized (倾覆). Nüwa dropped into the sea. Her soul (灵魂) turned into a beautiful bird. And people called it Jingwei. Nüwa’s father was an emperor. He was very unhappy when he saw Jingwei!

There was a young boy, born in a poor family. Once his teacher asked him to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up. That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal (目标) of owning a horse ranch (养马场). He wrote about his dream in great detail (详细地) and he even drew a picture of a 200-acre (英亩) ranch on the paper. The next day he gave it to the teacher. Two days later he got his paper back. On the front page was a large red “F” with a note that read, “See me after class.”
The boy with the dream went to see the teacher after class and asked, “Why did I get an ‘F’ ” “Your dream will never come true. You come from a poor family,” the teacher said. “If you rewrite your paper, I will reconsider your grade.”
The boy went home and thought about it hard. He asked his father what he should do. His father said, “You have to make up your own mind on this. I think it is a very important decision for you.”
Finally, the boy handed in the same paper, making no changes at all. He said, “You can keep the ‘F’ and I’ll keep my dream.”
Twenty years passed. The young man had a 200-acre horse ranch of his own.

An elephant and a monkey are good friends. They are both proud(骄傲的). The elephant says “Look, how big and strong I am!” The monkey is proud because he is smart. He says “Can you climb a tree ”

Ami: Child of the Stars (《阿米：星星的孩子》) tells a story of Pedro and his friend Ami. On a quiet summer night, a boy gets off his spaceship and meets with Pedro. He tells Pedro that he is from a star and he is Pedro’s friend. His name is so strange that Pedro decides to call him Ami instead. Ami then tells him lots of things.
Ami says that if Pedro concentrates on imagining flying. He will be able to fly like a bird happily. That actually happens later. Ami tells Pedro not to worry about those things that have not happened yet, or he won’t appreciate what is happening now. He will miss the beauty of each day and won’t believe in the miracles around him.
Later, Ami takes Pedro to his spaceship and they travel around the earth together. They have visited many cities like Bombay, Tokyo and Egypt. There, they see different people and experience different lifestyles. They also fly to the moon and to other stars later on. Pedro learns how people live on other planets.
During their travels, Ami and Pedro also learn the most important law in the universe—love. Ami says, “Development means to get closer to love. If you understand that love is the law of the universe, if you join together as a family, and if you are organized according to love, you’ll survive.”

A rich man is riding along the road and sees an old man digging(挖) in his garden. On the ground lies a young tree. The rich man calls out to the old man, “What kind of tree are you planting there, my good man ”
“This is a fig(无花果) tree, sir.” He says.
