Passage 1
Choose the best answer(根据以下内容,选择最恰当的答案)
Five easy ideas to help save the planet
The Earth needs your help. It’s warming up; the Arctic (北极) is melting (融化); the rainforests are getting smaller and smaller. But there are lots of simple, fun things you can do to save the environment.
Each year we throw away millions of mobile phones. But when the time comes to kiss your old phone goodbye, why not recycle it It takes 45 times less CO2 to recycle an old phone than to make a new one.
Planting new trees is as important as saving old ones. Choose a place where a tree can grow big and tall. Then sow (种) a tree seed and watch it grow. It’s the easiest thing, but possible the best thing you can ever do. Your grandchildren will thank you!
Help the planet to get fit. Cycling is a lot healthier, cheaper and more environmentally friendly than taking a bus. So ride your bike and reduce your carbon footprint.
You use a plastic bag for five minutes but it can take 500 years to decompose (分解). Producing plastic bags also contributes to global warming, and they often end up as litter or harm wildlife. So take your own bag to the shops or use biodegradable (可降解的) ones!
Human activity and pollution threaten (威胁) the environment. So, why not do a fun run to raise money for environmental groups It’s an interesting way to make others be aware of saving the planet from harm. Plus, you may also stay healthy while making efforts.

阅读下面材料,从题中所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出正确选项。
How green are you Do you know how to be green
We all need a healthy environment, but we produce waste every day and it is harmful to our environment. Though we are young, we can still do something to help. Here are some ideas for you.
Reduce
Reduce means “use less”. Don’t waste things. This saves money and reduces pollution. Before we buy something new, think whether it is really necessary or maybe the old one is still useful.
Reuse
Reuse means “use again”. When we buy things, make sure that they can last a long time. When something is broken, we should repair it instead of throwing it away and buying a new one. Don’t use a paper cup or a paper bag. It’s better to use a china (瓷) cup and a lunch box because you can use them again.
Recycle
Recycle means “change things into something else”. Though it takes energy to change something into something else, it’s better than throwing things away or burning them.
So please remember these words: reduce, reuse and recycle.

Most polar bears (北极熊) could disappear by the end of the century because of global warming, scientists say.
According to a study in Nature Climate (气候) Change, the number of most polar bears will 62 rapidly (快速地) by 2080. There are two reasons. One is that the sea ice is melting (融化). Polar bears catch seals (海豹) to eat on the ice. 63 ice, they have to stay on land. But there is no 64 food on land to support so many polar bears. The animals could die from hunger. The other reason is that mother bears may not be fat enough to 65 milk for their babies, so some bears could stop having babies.
Polar bears are 66 land animals that eat meat on the planet. They help control other kinds of animals. Losing them would break the balance of their living place.
The Arctic is the 67 to about 25,000 polar bears. Arctic sea ice usually melts in spring and summer, then grows in winter. But now, the 68 is taking longer to grow back. Scientists say the Arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the planet.
The study also shows 69 it is possible to slow Arctic melting. Greenhouse gases (温室气体) could lead to climate change. In order to avoid creating greenhouse gases, the world should try to stop burning coal and riding in cars.
Saving the bears is 70 us. Holland, one of the writers of the study, says, “I believe there is hope, but humans need to act 71 to make that hope come true.” Let’s take action to protect our earth and save polar bears.

Though it takes energy to change something into something
else, it’s better than throwing things away or burning them.
So please remember these words: reduce, reuse and recycle.
