【教学过程】
Step1. Pre-reading
1. Free talk
T: Just now, we enjoyed a song about months. When we talk about months, what’s in your mind
S: Festivals. Holidays.
T: Yes. We can also use months to talk about our holidays.Today, we will talk about holidays.(揭题)
T: Can you read this word: bird How about birthday
Step2. While-reading
1. Watch and answer
T: Now, this time can you tell me whose birthday are they talking about
S: They are talking about Su Hai’s birthday and Mike’s birthday.
T: As we all know, Su Hai is from China. And Mike is from the UK. So we know the missing pages are Birthdays in China and Birthdays in the UK.
2. Look and say
T: Look, I also have two pictures here. Can you find out when are their birthdays
T: Su Hai’s birthday is on the eleventh of May.Read after me eleventh, May, the eleventh of May.
T: How about Mike
S: Mike’s birthday is on the eighth of April.
T:Read after me eighth, April, the eighth of April.
T: We know Su Hai and Su Yang are twins. So Su Yang’s birthday is also on the eleventh of May.
3. Read and find
T: Now we know the dates of their birthdays. Beside this, what else do you want to know

T: Traditionally, our Chinese people eat the noodles on our birthdays because we think that long noodles means long life. But people in western countries think that the cake means good luck.
T: But nowadays most of our Chinese people may have a birthday cake on our birthdays and sometimes we may also have a party. That’s because the world is becoming a big family.
3.Let’s enjoy
T: Look at the lovely children from different countries. They do different things on their birthdays.
4.Let’s design
T: Before class, we’ve already divided into different groups according to your birthdays. Each group has the birthday in the same month. So can you design a birthday party to yourselves
T: You can design it like this. First, underline the activities in different countries in the picture book. Then, choose two or three activities you like. At last, you can design your birthday invitation card.
5.Let’s read
T: In your mind, what is birthday It is very important. We can read together.
Step4. Homework
1. Read the story three times.
2. Enrich your invitation card.
3. Surf the Internet and know more about the birthday customs in different countries and share with your friends.
