The topic of this unit is: Make, accept and decline invitations. The topic is popular and close to students’ daily life.
1a, 1b and 1c is about the description of date in the invitation.
1d and 1e is the listening part, which practices the speaking. 2. The analysis of the students
Students in Grade Eight have certain amount of English vocabulary, but some of them are afraid to speak English.
The topic is connected with our daily life. Students will be interested in the invitation and are eager to know how to make, accept or decline an invitation.
For this lesson, they will learn more about how to make and refuse an invitation.
3. Teaching Aims⑴ Knowledge Aim:
① Key Vocabulary: yesterday, tomorrow, weekday, the day after tomorrow, the day before yesterday, look after
② Target Language: What’s today? It’s Monday the 14th.
⑵ Ability Aim: To train the ability of speaking and listening.
To train the ability of making invitation.
⑶ Emotion Aim: Invite others and share the happiness together, you will have a good time.4.Teaching Importance

Let the students pay attention to key information in listening practice.
Enable the students to study English by Communication.

TEACHING PROCEDUREStep 1
Show the calendar of November in 2015.
Ask: What day is it today? What the date today?
Then conclude the answer: It’s Thursday 19th.
Give the key sentence: What’s today? It’s Thursday 19th.Step 2
Use the chart to ask today, tomorrow and yesterday. And introduce the meaning of the day before yesterday, the day after tomorrow.
Then practice the sentence structure with the partner:
What’s the day before yesterday?
What’s the day after tomorrow?Step 3
Look at the picture in the book. Give two questions. In order to have a whole understanding of the listening material.

Listen for the first time. And answer the question: Can Vince play tennis with Andy?Step 5

Listen for another time. Fill in the blanks according listening material. And explain some phrases: look after.
