1.The kite is flying so high.风筝正飞得很高。
high adv.在高处。
eg. The building stands about 100 meters high.
这座建筑大约有100米高。
The bird can fly high in the sky.
这只鸟可以在高空飞翔。
high adj. 高的。指远离地面 “高的”或价格“高的”,也可以指大山山很高。high用于表示建筑物高时可以替换为tall。
eg.
The plane is so high in the sky. 飞机在高空中。
The price of the book is high . 这本书的价格很高 。
There is a tall/high building in the center of the city.
在市中心有一幢高大的建筑。

2. (1)But one year ago,she couldn't do it at all.
但是在一年前,她根本不会。
ago adv.以前,主要用于“一段时间 + ago”这个结构中,用于一般过去时态。

(2)What shape was it before 它以前是什么形状
before : adv. 以前. 表示过去的时间,谓语动词要用过去式,一般放在句末。用于一般过去时态和现在完成时态。
译:
以前它像一颗星星。
以前它像一朵花。
can与could的区别:
1)could是can的过去式,表示某人过去的能力,其否定式是couldn't,用于一般过去时态。
eg.
Jim could swim when he was eight.
吉姆八岁的时候就会游泳了。
译:
我十岁时会骑自行车。
迈克两年前不会游泳。
迈克以前不会游泳。
2) 疑问句中当表示请求许可时,用could比用can更加客气。此时,could没有过去式的意思,只是语气更加委婉。而回答时,仍用can回答。
eg.
—Could I ask you some questions 我能问你一些问题吗
—Of course you can.当然能。
译:
—你能帮我学中文吗
—当然,我能。/对不起,我不能。
3.But when she was five,she could dance just a little.但是当她5岁时,她仅会跳一点儿舞。
when 1)从属连词,当……时。引导时间状语从句,放在主句前时,用逗号与主句分开,放在主句后时,不用逗号与主句间隔。
比较:When he was very young, he could swim.
他年纪很小时就会游泳。
He could swim when he was very young.
他年纪很小时就会游泳。
译:
见到他时,代我问他好。
when 2) 疑问副词 何时;什么时候。用于构成特殊疑问句。
eg.
When can you finish the work 你什么时间能完成这项工作

你早上什么时候起床
4.They both like playing ball games.他们两个都喜欢球类运动。
both 1)可作形容词、代词或副词用,意思是“两个”、“双方”、“两个都”。在句中可作主语、宾语或同位语。
eg.
Both are right.两者都对。(主语)
I like both.两个我都喜欢。(宾语)
both 2)与动词连用时,大多数放在系动词be之后,行为动词之前。
eg.
His parents are both workers. 他的父母都是工人。
They both like table tennis. 他们俩都喜欢打乒乓球。
both... and... ......和......都......
eg.
Both he and his brother are good at English.
他和他的兄弟都擅长英语。

玛丽亚和她的父母都来自古巴。
