五、阅读理解
As we all know, Tianwen 1 is China’s first Mars probe (探测器).It was named after a poem called Quest for Heavenly Truth by Qu Yuan, a great poet during the Warring States Period.
On July 23, 2020, Tianwen 1 was launched (发射).It landed on its planned landing area in the southern part of Utopia Planitia, a plain on the northern hemisphere of Mars on May 15, 2021.That means a Chinese spacecraft landed on the surface of Mars. The success rate of Mars landing has been below 50%, but our great country finally made it! After a week of the landing, the Mars rover (任务车), Zhurong, rolled onto the Martian soil.
Named after the Chinese ancient god of fire, Zhurong is 1.85 metres tall and weighs about 240 kilograms. It has six wheels and four solar panels, and looks like a blue butterfly. And Zhurong has been in good working condition.
On March 4, 2021, the first high-resolution (高分辨率的) pictures of Mars taken by Tianwen 1 were made public by the China National Space Administration (CNSA).The two black-and-white pictures were taken by the high-resolution camera on Tianwen 1 when the probe was about 330-350 kilometres above the Mars.As for the colour picture, it was taken by Tianwen 1’s medium-resolution camera when the probe was about 5,000 kilometres above the red planet. It shows Mars’ North Pole.
The success has made China the second country in the world to explore the Mars.
