一.Teaching content :
本课向我们介绍了我国著名体育明星李宁及他的成功事迹,让学生在掌握跟体育相关的表达并在读懂文章的基础上,认真领悟文章的弦外之音,即:我们应该勇敢面对失败,不能气馁,要振作精神以取得更大成功。
二.Students analysis:
高二学生已经积累了一定的词汇量,阅读技能和水平有一定的提高。教师应在这一基础上引导学生自主阅读,并主动运用所学语言知识分析问题,解决问题。

Step I Pre-reading
Show some pictures about Li Ning. Let the students know something about Li Ning and his brand, logo and slogan. Li Ning is not only a famous brand but also a famous sportsperson.
In order to know about Li Ning, let’s come to the text.
Step II While-reading
Fast Reading
Read the text quickly and try to find the main idea of each paragraph. Match the main ideas with each paragraph

Careful Reading
Read Para 1 carefully and try to fill in the form according to the time order.
Reading task:

Read Para 2 and know more details about Li Ning’s new life in business.

Reading task:
Li Ning started a new career by making use of his sporting background. A new brand of sportswear was launched by him, whose logo is made up of two pinyin letters of Li Ning’s name, L and N.
Look at the sentence and analyze its sentence pattern

The teacher can do some exercise about this sentence pattern randomly.
From Para 1, Para 2 we know that Li Ning didn’t give up after his failure and created his own brand. As we all know, he is very successful in business.
