第六节 连词
连词是一种虚词，它不能单独担任句子成分，只起连接词与词、短语与短语及句子与句子的作用。
考点：并列连词与从属连词。
连词按其意义可分为两类：并列连词和从属连词。
一、并列连词
并列连词用来连接并列关系的词、词组或句子和一些相关的成分。并列连词可用于表示联合、转折、选择和因果等意义，常用的并列连词有：
and,but,or,as well as,both...and...,not only...but also...,either...or...,neither...nor...等。
并列连词的种类：
1.表示联合意义的连词：and, both...and..., not only..but also.., neither...nor...等。
2.表示意思转折的连词：but, yet, while等。
3.表示因果关系的连词：for, so等。
4.表示选择意义的连词：or, either...or...等。
二、从属连词
从属连词用来引导名词性从句及各种状语从句，起连接主句和从句的作用。
常用的从属连词有：
if,whether,when,while,before,after,as,since,where,because,than,though,although,till,until,as soon as等。
从属连词的种类：
1.引导时间状语从句的连词：as,when,whenever,while,before,after,till,until,as soon as,since等。
例：The days get longer when spring comes.
2.引导条件状语从句的连词：if,unless,as long as等。
例：(1)We'll go hiking if he is free this Sunday.
(2)We shall go there tomorrow unless it rains.
注：条件状语从句和时间状语从句中的谓语动词的时态一般遵循“主将从现”“主祈从现”的原则。
例：(1) If you want to leave at 6 o'clock tomorrow morning,please go to bed now.
When you arrive,I'll call you.
3.引导目的状语从句的连词：so that,in order that等。
例：(1) I’ll write down your phone number in order that I can call you later.
(2)We will tell you the truth so that you can decide what to do.
4.引导结果状语从句的连词：so...that...,such...that...等。
例：This sweater felt so comfortable that I bought it at once.注：
so...that...和such...that...的区别：
so+形容词/副词+that从句
例：He spoke so fast that I couldn't follow him.
so+many/few+可数名词复数+that从句
例：He had so many falls that he was black and blue all over.
so+much/little+不可数名词+that从句
例：They made so much noise that the teacher got angry.
such+a/an+形容词+单数可数名词+that从句
例：This is such an interesting book that I want to read it again.
such+形容词+可数名词复数/不可数名词+that从句
例：She told us such funny stories that we all laughed.

5.引导原因状语从句的连词：because,as,since等。
例：I didn't want to go there because I was tired of such parties.
注：
(1)英语中because和so两者不能并用，二者只可用其一。
(2)because,for,since和as作为连词，都有“因为”的意思。
for是并列连词，所说的理由是一种补充说明。for引导的句子一般放在句尾。
例：It rained yesterday,for the ground is wet.
as和since是从属连词，说明的是已为人们所知的理由，一般在句前。
在语气上because→since→as
As(Since)we are Chinese,we must love China.
6.引导让步状语从句的连词：though,although,even if,even though,while,whether...or...等。
例：I will not trust you although you have told me the truth.
7.引导方式状语从句的连词：as,just as,as if,as though(好像),the way(方式，意愿)等。
例：(1)I was never allowed to do things the way I wanted to do.
(2)She looks as if she is ill.
8.引导地点状语从句的连词：where,wherever等。
例：(1)Where there is a will,there is a way.
(2)Wherever you go,home is the best.
9.引导比较状语从句的连词：as...as...,not as(so)...as…,the same..as.,such...as.等。
例：(1)Mary is as old as my sister.
(2)Many people think pigs are not as /so smart as monkeys.
