I am a multisport athlete and seasoned coach. When I was growing up, school wasn’t really my thing, but sport very much was. Athletics connected me to my school community by giving me a sense of belonging and success even when I struggled in the classroom. When I entered education, I knew I wanted to be more than a coach on the field and court—I wanted to help students like me make meaningful connections to school through sports.
I designed a program around the concepts of comfort and stretch zones. On day one, I set up a range of equipment for different sports across a field. In groups, students discussed sports that they felt comfortable and safe playing. They then took turns selecting their comfort sport on the field, doing a brief share, and playing with their group. Afterward, we had a class discussion on the importance of doing things that bring joy and passion, and how sharing that passion with others motivates us and the people around us.
On day two, with the same field design and sporting equipment, I introduced the idea of stretch zones. Students formed the same groups as on day one and discussed which sports were out of their comfort zone and more challenging to them. Some of my students were shy and others slightly frustrated(沮丧)as they struggled to perform the skills in sports in which they were not comfortable. Then we discussed, as a class, how even when something is challenging, if we recognize the difficulty and intentionally practice, we give ourselves the opportunity to overcome it over time.
The program required more than just adjusting my curriculum(课程)—it also meant some changes to the way I taught. I found myself opening up to my students and sharing my own hardships and successes with them. As a result, my students felt freer to be their real selves.

26.What was a problem facing the author on the second day of the program
A.Some students feared challenges. B.It was difficult to group students.
C.Students wanted material rewards. D.The sports field became crowded.

C
I observed one child hugging her beloved toy dog while reading a book to her friend — both she and her dog were actively turning the pages — and with every page turned, she looked down at her dog, lovingly. As a longtime educator of toddlers and a current PhD student studying transitional phenomena and object relations, I have had the pleasure to witness the presence of transitional objects in the kindergarten.
The term transitional object, coined in 195l by D.W. Winnicott, refers to any material to which a child attaches a special value and by means of which the child is able to make the necessary shift from the earliest oral relationship with mother to genuine object-relationships. It is typically something soft, such as a blanket or a soft toy, that is similar to the mother’s warm arms.
It may also be the subject of the child’s fantasies, for example where a teddy bear is spoken to, hugged, punished, etc. It thus becomes a tool for practicing interaction with the external world. Moreover, the transitional object supports the development of the self, as it is used to represent ‘not me’. By looking at the object, the child knows that it is not the object and hence something individual and separate. in this way, it helps the child develop its sense of ‘other’ things.
If the object is denied in any way, attachment difficulties may arise later in life. The object allows for and invites emotional well-being, and without such an object, true feelings may be hidden or dismissed as the child has no other means to cope with and comprehend the world. Worse still, the object is intimately bound up with the identity of the child. Taking away the object is also taking away something of the child itself.
Winnicott noted that transitional objects continue through the course of our lives, as “sacred monuments” which pull us back to “a place and time of great comfort and memory”. The attachment to certain objects like self photographs defines both memorials, and more importantly a state of connection and presence in the world.
28.How does the writer introduce the topic
A.By sharing feelings. B.By illustrating a term.
C.By relating an experience. D.By providing background information.
29.What does the term “transitional objects” refer to according to the passage
A.Tools used by educators to aid teaching.
B.Items to which a child becomes deeply attached.
C.Toys designed to amuse kids in the kindergarten.
D.Expensive personal possessions gifted by parents.
30.What might happen if a child’s transitional object is denied
A.Ho might lose his imagination.
B.He may become more independent.
C.He is less likely to share personal feelings.
D.He probably distances himself from his mother.
31.What is the main purpose of the text
A.To introduce how to develop a sense of ‘other’ things.
B.To do research on the psychological development of kids.
C.To show how to enhance the bond between mother and child.
D.To stress the importance of transitional objects to children.
根据第一段中“I observed one child hugging her beloved toy dog while reading a book to her friend — both she and her dog were actively turning the pages —and with every page turned, she looked down at her dog, lovingly. As a longtime educator of toddlers and a current PhD student studying transitional phenomena and object relations, I have had the pleasure to witness the presence of transitional objects in the kindergarten. (我注意到一个孩子抱着她心爱的玩具狗给她的朋友读书——她和她的狗都在积极地翻页——每翻一页,她都低头看着她的狗,充满爱意。作为一名长期的幼儿教育工作者和一名研究过渡现象和客体关系的博士生,我很高兴地目睹了幼儿园中过渡客体的存在。)”可知,作者由自己看到的景象引出本文主题——“过度客体”,因此是通过将自己的经历相联系而介绍主题,故选C。
29.细节理解题。根据第二段中“The term transitional object, coined in 195l by D.W. Winnicott, refers to any material to which a child attaches a special value and by means of which the child is able to make the necessary shift from the earliest oral relationship with mother to genuine object-relationships. (‘过渡客体’一词是由D.W. Winnicott在1951年创造的,指的是儿童赋予特殊价值的任何材料,通过这种材料,儿童能够从最早的与母亲的口头关系转变为真正的客体关系。)”和第四段中“If the object is denied in any way, attachment difficulties may arise later in life. (如果对象以任何方式被拒绝,在以后的生活中可能会出现依恋困难。)”可知,“过度客
体”是指孩子赋予其特殊价值并深深依恋的东西,故选B。
30.细节理解题。根据第四段中“If the object is denied in any way, attachment difficulties may arise later in life. The object allows for and invites emotional well-being, and without such an object, true feelings may be hidden or dismissed as the child has no other means to cope with and comprehend the world. (如果对象以任何方式被拒绝,在以后的生活中可能会出现依恋困难。对象允许并邀请情感健康,没有这样的对象,真实的感受可能会被隐藏或忽视,因为孩子没有其他方法来应对和理解世界。)”可知,如果孩子的“过度客体”被拒绝,他就不太可能分享个人感受,故选C。
31.推理判断题。根据全文内容,结合最后一段中“Winnicott noted that transitional objects continue through the course of our lives, as “sacred monuments” which pull us back to “a place and time of great comfort and memory”. The attachment to certain objects like self photographs defines both memorials, and more importantly a stale of connection and presence in the world. Monet gets his place in the art timeline because of his leading role in the impressionist art movement, and through the lasting appeal of his artistic style. The painting he titled Impression: Sunrise, done early in his career, may not seem one of Monet’s best paintings, but the big deal about it is that it was the painting that gave impressionism its name.
Done with oil paint on canvas, this painting is characterized by thin washes of rather mild colors, on top of which he painted short strokes of pure color. Monet gave depth and perspective to an otherwise flat painting by the use of aerial perspective Look closely at the three boats, and you can see how these get lighter in the tone, which is the way aerial perspective works. The lighter boats appear to be further away from us than the darkest one.
Monet exhibited the painting in what we now call the First Impressionist Exhibition, in Paris. Monet and a group of about 30 other artists, frustrated by restrictions and politics of the official annual art salon, had decided to hold their own independent exhibition, an unusual thing to do at the time. They called themselves the Anonymous Society of Painters, Sculptors, Engravers, etc., which included artists who are now world famous such as Renoir, Degas, Pissarro, Morisot, and Cezanne. Monet said he’d called the painting “impression” because “it really couldn’t pass as a view of Le Harve”.
Louis Leroy, an art critic, in his review of the exhibition used the title of Monet’s painting as the headline, calling it the “Exhibition of Impressionists”. Leroy had meant it ironically as the term “impression” was used to describe a rapidly finished painting of an atmospheric effect, and
artists rarely, if ever, exhibited pictures so quickly sketched. The label stuck. In his review published on 25 April, 1874, Leroy wrote,“Wallpaper in its embryonic (萌芽期的) state is more finished than that seascape.” Then in a supportive review published a few days later, Jules Castagnary was the first art critic to use the term “Impressionism” in a positive way.
32.What do we know about Monet’s Impression: Sunrise
A.It was universally acknowledged as Monet’s best painting.
B.Leroy was deeply impressed by the painter’s remarkable skill.
C.The different tones of the three boats gave depth to the painting.
D.It was exhibited in the official annual art salon with 30 other artists.
33.What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 4 mean
A.The label met strong opposition from other art critics.
B.The label was stuck to the surface of Monet’s painting.
C.The label was not regarded as a positive image.
D.The label stayed and became widely used after that.
34.Who is the first to use the term “Impressionists”
A.Monet. B.Leroy. C.Renoir. D.Castagnary.
35.What does the passage mainly talk about
A.Impression: Sunrise gave Impressionism its name.
B.Critics had a disagreement over Monet’s painting.
C.Monet is a leading artist of Impressionism.
D.Impressionism is an appealing artistic style.
【答案】32.C 33.D 34.B 35.A
根据第二段“Look closely at the three boats, and you can see how these get lighter in the tone, which is the way aerial perspective works. The lighter boats appear to be further away from us than the darkest one.(仔细观察这三艘船,你可以看到它们是如何在色调上变浅的,这就是空间透视法的工作方式。浅色的船似乎比最黑的船离我们更远)”可知,三艘船的不同色调给这幅画增添了深度。故选C项。
33.词句猜测题。根据前文“Louis Leroy, an art critic, in his review of the exhibition used the title of Monet’s painting as the headline, calling it the “Exhibition of Impressionists”. Leroy had meant it ironically as the term “impression” was used to describe a rapidly finished painting of an atmospheric effect, and artists rarely, if ever, exhibited pictures so quickly sketched.(艺术评论家Louis Leroy在评论展览时用了莫奈的画作作为标题,称其为“印象派的展览”。

根据第一段“Monet gets his place in the art timeline because of his leading role in the impressionist art movement, and through the lasting appeal of his artistic style. The painting he titled Impression: Sunrise, done early in his career, may not seem one of Monet’s best paintings, but the big deal about it is that it was the painting that gave impressionism its name.(由于他在印象派艺术运动中的领导作用,以及他的艺术风格的持久吸引力,莫奈在艺术时间表上占有一席之地。莫奈早期创作的这幅名为《印象:日出》的画作,似乎不是他最好的画作之一,但重要的是,正是这幅画让印象派得名)”以及纵观全文可知,本文主要讲述了莫奈的名画《印象:日出》以及它对印象主义艺术流派的影响。故选A项。

Summer is the swimming season. As fun as a swimming pool can be, it’s also a major safety risk if you don’t take the appropriate precautions Here are some tips for a safe swimming season.
36 If children or inexperienced swimmers are in the pool, it’s very important to have close supervision. They must take that role very seriously. 37 . More children aged 1 to 4 die from drowning than any other causes of death.
Keep a variety of flotation devices in and around the pool like a life jacket plus pool
noodles or a paddle board. That helps when accidents happen. 38 .
Supervisors should also learn basic CPR.
The steps are:
1. Place the person on his back and gently lift his chin and tilt (倾斜) his head back.
2. Place one hand over the other, place them over the patient’s breastbone and administer 30 chest presses.
3. Pinch their nose and place your mouth tightly over their mouth and administer two short breaths

39 Emergency department staff sometimes see significant head injuries and spinal cord injuries that come from careless diving. This happens more among teenagers and young adults. Prevent this by making sure people are only using existing diving boards that are designed to dive into deep water.
Another risk is a condition called “dry drowning”. This happens after a near-drowning event in which water gets into someone’s lungs. 40 . Call 120 or go to the emergency department right away. This is very rare, but can be fatal (致命的).

Trust your bad luck
Before this time, I usually buy a first class train ticket. That is necessary! Because this is one of the most crowded and poorest region in the world, I am afraid that there are no seats in the general class. Unluckily, this time I was running late. I was informed there was no first class seating available, so I was forced to buy a general ticket.
The general coach was extremely crowded. Smell of sweat and sighs from tired bodies troubled me. I stepped over people sitting on the floor, asking them to make a little space for me to stand, but nobody moved. Finally, I had to shout at two poor people to make a standing place near the gate for me. As several hours passed, I continued changing the pressure on my legs, one by one, to ease the pain of standing. The entire time, I cursed(咒骂) in my heart, “Damn! Bad luck has ruined my day!”
Suddenly, at about 3 am, a strange sound woke me up. I scanned the coach. Everyone was sleeping. Hadn’t anyone else heard it Beside the train gate, I noticed an empty space. That space wasn’t there before. I’d know it. For the entire journey, I’d stood just four meters from that gate. If there had been a space, I would have taken it. My mind raced. No! A young man was sleeping there just now. I shouted, “Pull the emergency chain!” I was nowhere near the chain.
A group of people awoke in surprise. “What’s going on ” They quizzed. “I think someone accidentally fell off the train.” I replied. Those men sitting near the chain stared wide-eyed, motionless, for fear of facing a fine or punishment. So I struggled through the crowd, reached for that emergency chain and pulled it. Finally, the train stopped.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
Within seconds, a policeman rushed forward, “Who touched the emergency chain ”

It was the young man! He was lying alongside the track, injured.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Within seconds, a policeman rushed forward, “Who touched the emergency chain ” Eyes
filled with fear, the passengers bit their lips, absolutely motionless. Hidden in the dark, I stayed quiet at first, refraining from uttering a single word. “Who pulled the chain ” The policeman roared, fierce like a lion. A force that came out of nowhere drove me forward. “I think someone has fallen.” The policeman continued to enquire, “Why would you think that ” I explained the ins and outs of the incident. “Come with me!” he boomed. The policeman, together with me and a few other passengers, headed back down the track. As we walked, the policeman waved his torch to and fro. He asked questions while doubting my answers. About 100 meters down the track, we spotted a shadow swaying near the back of the train. We rushed forward.
It was the young man! He was lying alongside the track, injured. As I eyed his blood—stained clothes, I couldn’t help wondering how he could have survived if we hadn’t discovered him. The policeman asked why he fell from the train. The injured man said slowly, “I accidentally fell down while sleeping.” After getting the truth, the policeman apologized to me and commended me for my work. Then, he took the injured man into another coach for treatment and directed other passengers to offer me a seat. Soon, the train gathered momentum. We were on our way. I came to realize that it was all that “bad luck” that led me to stand in that very spot, at that very time, to hear a strange sound that helped save a man. Now, I accept bad incidents in a positive way and try to find reasons behind them.

From displays of budding local creative minds to famous artists, airports are stepping up their game to share more of what their city is known for within the terminal. Visit our site and the most surprising, engaging, and inspiring art museums within an airport are just a click away.
Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport
Ancient Greece travels to you when you arrive at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport. Before security, travelers can explore 172 pieces of archaeological artifacts from the Neolithic and Early Helladie to the Post-Byzantine period. Some of the pieces were actually uncovered during the construction of the airport. Even those not traveling through the airport can explore the displays thanks to an online 3D gallery.

Social media enthusiasts have surely seen people posing for photos with the famous yellow “Lamp Bear” inside Doha Hamad Airport. You’ll also find 10 other giant statues and displays within the terminal. These include “A Message of Peace to the World,” a striking sculpture honoring the work of a local nonprofit organization, Reach out to Asia, that supports education in underprivileged Asian countries. The carefully-selected art on display is a cooperation between the airport and Qatar Museums.
Seoul Incheon Airport
Beyond traditional pieces of art, Seoul Incheon Airport takes things a step further by offering interactive experiences and classes for travelers.

C.To push students to observe rules. D.To bond students and the school.
26.What was a problem facing the author on the second day of the program
A.Some students feared challenges. B.It was difficult to group students.
C.Students wanted material rewards. D.The sports field became crowded.
27.What can we infer about the author
A.He loves telling jokes. B.He is a creative teacher.
C.He used to be very shy. D.He is fond of safe sports.

Louis Leroy, an art critic, in his review of the exhibition used the title of Monet’s painting
as the headline, calling it the “Exhibition of Impressionists”. Leroy had meant it ironically as the term “impression” was used to describe a rapidly finished painting of an atmospheric effect, and artists rarely, if ever, exhibited pictures so quickly sketched.

Summer is the swimming season. As fun as a swimming pool can be, it’s also a major safety risk if you don’t take the appropriate precautions Here are some tips for a safe swimming season.
36 If children or inexperienced swimmers are in the pool, it’s very important to have close supervision. Supervisors should be an adult who can swim well and knows how to save others in a swimming pool. They mustn’t be distracted with their cellphone, or a conversation with another adult.
Start again until the patient starts breathing.
A.Drowning can happen in an instant
B.Adults should watch over the safety
C.Drowning isn’t the only danger with pools
D.Pool owners should be sure to have a fence around their pool
E.Call for help and start administering CPR as quickly as possible
F.A drowning person having something to grab can get out of the pool quickly
G.That means the airway is closed off and can’t provide someone with enough oxygen

If
there had been a space, I would have taken it.
