In a classroom in rural Kenya's Rift Valley Province, a student takes notes alongside her fellow classmates. She wears the same school uniform—a grey skirt and a green sweater. However, she is more than 80 years older than them. Priscilla Sitienei, who turned 99 years old on February 11, said she went back to class to set a good example for her great-grandchildren and to start a new career. “I'd like to become a doctor because I used to be a midwife (助产士),” she said, adding that her children were supportive of her decision.
Back in 2003, the government of the East African country began an education campaign to help to pay for the cost of primary schooling, allowing some older members of society who had missed out on education in their younger days to continue their dreams. This has given Sitienei more than an education. She's also become a film star. She traveled to Paris last year for the first showing of a film about her journey titled “Gogo”, which means “grandmother” in her native Kalenjin language. She'll also be heading to New York City soon for the launch of the film there.
Sitienei, who is in her sixth year of primary school, said her aims were far more practical than becoming a movie star. She had the idea when her great-granddaughter dropped out of school after getting pregnant, “I jokingly asked her if she had any money remaining on her school fee and she said yes, so I told her that I'd use it to attend school.” She said she had hoped that her great-granddaughter would continue with her studies. But when she refused, Sitienei decided to go to school herself.
Sitienei also enjoys other school activities, including physical education classes. “It keeps me fit. I get to jump around, even though not as much as they can do, but I at least move my body. That's my joy,” she said.
Her teachers use Sitienei's wide experience to keep the peace during lessons. “I appointed Sitienei to help control the class. And it works. When I go outside, the class remains silent,” said Leonida Talaam, her class teacher.
24.How does Priscilla Sitienei differ from her classmates
A.The learning approach. B.The dressing style.
C.Study efficiency. D.Physical age.
25.Why are Paris and New York City mentioned in paragraph 2
A.To show the daily routines of a film star.
B.To state Sitienei is really fond of traveling.
C.To indicate the effects of the education campaign on Sitienei.
D.To explain the hard work it takes to make dreams come true.
26.Which word best describes Sitienei
A.Active. B.Passive.
C.Independent. D.Intelligent.
27.What can be inferred about Sitienei from the last paragraph
A.She hates noise in class very much.
B.She is a good helper to her class teacher.
C.She always enjoys staying in silence alone.
D.She often replaces her teacher to give lessons.

Body language is a fascinating aspect of human communication that often speaks louder than words. It is a silent form of expression that conveys our thoughts, emotions, and intentions. I have always been amazed by the way our bodies can communicate without uttering a single word.
One vivid memory that comes to mind is a job interview I had a few years ago. As I sat across from the interviewer, I could feel my body tensing up. I crossed my arms and leaned back in my chair, unconsciously acting as a defensive barrier. The interviewer picked up on my closed-off posture and became more reserved in his questioning. It was clear that my body language was sending a message of discomfort and lack of confidence.
Reflecting on that experience, I realized the importance of using open and confident body language in professional settings. Subtle(微妙的) changes in posture, facial expressions, and gestures can significantly impact the impression we make on others. From that day forward, I made a conscious effort to project confidence and approachability (平易近人) through my body language.
Another instance where body language played a crucial role was during a family gathering. As we sat around the dinner table, I noticed my younger sister slumping and avoiding eye contact with anyone. Her body language indicated that she was feeling upset or anxious. Without saying a word, I reached out and gently touched her hand, offering a silent gesture of support. She looked at me with gratitude, and we shared a moment of the understanding and connection.
Body language is important not only in interpersonal relationships but also in public speaking. I remember watching a TED talk by a renowned speaker who captivated the audience with his confident stance, expressive gestures, and engaging eye contact. His body language promoted the impact of his words, making the talk more memorable and powerful.
In conclusion, body language is a powerful tool that can convey emotions, attitudes, and intentions without the need for verbal communication. It is essential to be aware of our own body language and its impact on others. By mastering the art of body language, we can promote our communication skills and create stronger connections with those around us.
28.What is the author's main purpose in sharing the job interview experience
A.To emphasize the significance of facial expressions in communication.
B.To describe a personal experience of discomfort and lack of confidence.
C.To demonstrate the impact of body language on interpersonal relationships.
D.To highlight the importance of non-verbal communication in professional settings.
29.What does the underlined word “captivated” in paragraph 5 most likely mean
A.Criticized. B.Fascinated.
C.Confused. D.Distracted.
30.Why is it important to be conscious of our own body language
A.It can promote our public speaking skills and captivate the audience.
B.It can help us understand and interpret the body language of each other.
C.It can prevent us from making any non-verbal communication mistakes.
D.It can create stronger connections and improve interpersonal relationships.
31.What is the structure of the passage
A. B. C. D.
D
In August, Jason M. Allen's piece “Thé tre D'opéra Spatial” — which he created with AI image generator Midjourney—won first place in the emerging artist division's “digital arts photography” category at the Colorado State Fair Fine Arts Competition. The definition of the category is that digital art refers to works that use “digital technology as part of the creative process”.
Allen's award-winning image has led to debates about what, exactly, it means to be an artist and whether AI can truly make art. “It felt bad for the exact same reason that we don't let robots participate in the Olympics,” one Twitter user wrote. “Exciting times ahead for the world of art and innovation!” another tweeted(在推特网上发微博).
Yet while Allen didn't use a paintbrush, there was plenty of work involved, he said. First, he played around with phrasing(措辞) that led Midjourney to generate images of women in elegant dresses and space helmets, in an attempt to mix Victorian-style costume with the theme of space. Over time, with many slight changes to his written instructions, he created 900 different versions of what led to his final image. Then he improved the picture's quality through Gigapixel AI and finally had the images printed.
Allen is glad the debate over whether AI can be used to make art is attracting so much attention. “Rather than hating the technology, we need to recognize that it's a powerful tool and use it for good so we can all move forward,” Allen said.
Cal Duran, one of the judges for the competition, said that while Allen's piece included a mention of AI, he didn't realize that when judging it. Still, he sticks by his decision to award it first place. “I think the AI technology may give more opportunities to people who may not find themselves artists in the conventional way,” he said.
32.What do we know about the Colorado State Fair Fine Arts Competition
A.It was held for well-established artists.
B.It welcomed the use of digital technology.
C.It had a division for AI art pieces.
D.It was funded by Midjourney.
33.What can be inferred from paragraph 3
A.Allen finished part of the drawing by hand.
B.Changes of description led to different results.
C.Allen's attempt achieved immediate success.
D.Gigapixel AI transferred words into pictures.
34.What was Cal Duran's opinion on the use of AI in art
A.It will replace artists in the near future.
B.It becomes a popular tool among artists.
C.It is widely criticized by Twitter users.
D.It makes art more accessible to people.
35.What is the passage mainly about
A.A famous art competition.
B.The trend in the use of AI in art.
C.The win of an AI-driven picture.
D.Start-up photographers' innovation.

Much meaning can be conveyed clearly with our eyes, so it is often said that eyes can speak.
Do you have such a kind of experience 36 , but not too long. And if he senses that he is being stared at, he may feel uncomfortable.
37 . If you are looked at for a while, you will look at yourself up and down to see if there is anything wrong with you. If nothing goes wrong, you will feel angry at people staring at you that way. Eyes do speak, right
38 . But things are different when it comes to staring at the opposite sex. If a man stares at a woman for more than 10 seconds, his intentions are obvious—that is, he wishes to attract her attention to make her understand that he is admiring her. In fact, continuous eye contact occurs between lovers only, who will enjoy looking at each other tenderly for a long time to show affection that words cannot express.
However, the normal eye contact for two people engaged in conversation is that the speaker will only look at the listener from time to time, in order to make sure that the listener is attentive. 39 , as if he tries to control you, you will feel uncomfortable. A poor liar usually exposes himself by looking too long at the victim, since he believes in the false idea that to look straight in the eye is a sign of honest communication. 40 .
Evidently, eye contact should be done according to the relationship between two people and the specific situation.
A.Quite the contrary
B.The same is true in daily life
C.On a bus you may look at a stranger
D.Looking too long at someone may seem to be rude

第一节
One possible version:
Dear Peter,
Learning that you are going to give a presentation on artificial intelligence in your class, I am more than delighted to share some relevant information with you. AI is a branch of computer science that aims to create intelligent machines. Its ultimate goal is to develop computer intelligence capable of learning, adjusting and performing tasks like humans. AI technology has come into widespread use and is transforming the way we live.
Personally, I think AI should be able to work to our advantage, help people tackle various kinds of problems, and promote the advances in other subjects. Nevertheless, as we become increasingly dependent on computers, we should also think about the threats posed by the advances in AI.
Hopefully the above information will be of great help to you. I hope you give a wonderful presentation!
Yours,
