As computers become more and more popular in China, Chinese people are increasingly depending on computer keyboards to input Chinese characters. But if they use the computer too much, they may end up forgetting the exact strokes (笔画) of each Chinese character when writing on paper. Experts suggest people, especially students, write by hand more.
Do you write by hand more or type more In Beijing, students start using a computer as early as in primary school. And computer dependence is more wide spread among university students. Almost all their homework and writings are typed on a computer.
All the students interviewed say they usually use a computer.
It's faster and easier to correct if using a computer. And that's why computers are being used more and more often to modern education. But when people are taking stock of computers increasingly, problems appear.
“When I'm writing with a pen, I find I often can't remember how to write a character, though I feel I'm familiar with it.”
“I'm not in the mood to write when faced with a pen and paper.”
Many students don't feel this is something to worry about. Now that it's more convenient and efficient to write on a computer, why bother to handwrite
Many educators think differently. Shi Liwei, the headmaster of a famous primary school in the capital said, “Chinese characters enjoy both practical value and artistic beauty. But those characters typed with computer keyboards only maintain their practical value. All the artistic beauty of the characters is lost. And handwriting contains the writer's emotion. Through one's handwriting, people can get to know one's thinking and personality. Beautiful writing will give people a better first impression of them.”
To encourage students to hand-write more, many primary schools in Beijing have made writing classes compulsory (必修的) and in universities, some professors are asking students to turn in their homework and essays written by hand.
4.Why do the students prefer to write with a computer mainly
A. Computers have become a trend and fashion in China.
B. They find it not easy to remember how to write a character.
C. They are usually asked to email their homework and writings.
D. They can correct the mistakes they make quickly and conveniently.

A. Getting bored with. B. Thinking carefully about.
C. Getting curious about. D. Becoming crazy about.
6.What can we learn from the passage
A. More and more students will pay attention to handwriting.
B. More and more students will give up writing on a computer.
C. The typing article better expresses one's emotion and quality.
D. Writing by hand will give way to typing by computer one day.
7.Which of the following can best serve as the title of the passage
A. To Type or to Hand-write.
B. How to Improve Handwriting.
C. Practical Value and Artistic Beauty of Chinese Characters.
D.Writing by Computer Will Replace Writing by Hand.

American high school students are terrible writers, and one education reform group thinks it has an answer: robots. Or, more accurately, robot readers—computers programmed to scan students’ essays and spit out a grade.
Mark Shermis, professor of the College of Education at the University of Akron, is helping to hold a contest, set up by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation (WFHF), which promises $ 100, 000 in prize money to programmers who write the best automated(自动的) grading software.“If you’re a high school teacher and you give a writing task, you’re walking home with 150 essays,” Shermis said.“You’re going to need some help.”
Automated essay grading was first proposed in the 1960s, but computers back then were not up to the task. In the late 1990s, as technology improved, several textbooks and testing companies jumped into the field.Today, computers are used to grade essays on South Dakota’s student writing assessments(评价) and a handful of other exams, including the TOEFL test of English fluency, taken by foreign students.
The Hewlett contest aims to show that computers can grade as well as English teachers—only much more quickly and without all that depressing red ink.“Automated essay scoring is objective,” Shermis said.“And it can be done immediately. If students finish an essay at 10 pm, they will get a result at 10:01 pm.”
Take, for instance, the Intelligent Essay Assessor, a web based tool marketed by Pearson Education, Inc.Within seconds, it can analyze an essay for spelling, grammar, organization, and help students to make revisions. The program scans for key words and analyzes semantic (语义的) patterns, and Pearson claims that it can understand the meaning of text much the same as a human reader.
8.What is the text written to introduce
A.Education reform in America. B.Robot readers.
C.Hewlett contest. D.Flora Hewlett Foundation.
9. What does the underlined phrase"spit out"in Paragraph I probably mean?
A. Give B. Organize C. Analyze D. Check.
10. From Paragraph 3, we know that in the 1960s ________.
A.computers were not easy to get
B.automated grading software was popular
C.computers couldn’t grade essays automatically
D.people refused automated essay grading
11.What can the Intelligent Essay Assessor can do
A. help to write another essay.
B. mark the mistakes in red ink.
C. correct key words and patterns.
D. understand the meaning of text.

Today, China has carried out its first 3D printing experiment in space in a newly launched spacecraft, which was put into low-Earth orbit by China's Long March 5B heavy-lift carrier rocket.
Video broadcast on CCTV showed that the printer has printed a flat section of a honeycomb-shaped structure as well as a symbol of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp, the parent company of the China Academy of Space Technology. The experiment was done by a 3D printer, developed and built by its Beijing Spacecrafts Manufacturing Factory.
The printer, named the Space-Based Composite Material 3D Printing System, uses carbon fiber-reinforced materials to print objects. It is fixed in the reentry module of the experimental spaceship, and will be brought back to Earth once the module returns.
The printer features advanced technologies in material modeling, precision(精确度) control and automation. Once the space-based 3D printing technology becomes operationally ready, it can extensively benefit space programs as astronauts can use it to produce a lot of things they need to get from resupply flights by cargo(货运) spacecraft.
Wang Yanan, editor-in-chief of the Aerospace Knowledge magazine, said the 3D Printer will be very useful in extended space missions, such as those in a space station, because it will allow astronauts to make components (组件) quickly and conveniently in space. The technology will save future space journeys vast resources and costs.
In fact, the device is not the only representative of 3D printing onboard the Prototype.
A CubeSat deployer, designed and made through 3D printing by CoSats Space Technology, is also carried by the spacecraft to check the ability of 3D-printed equipment in space. CoSats Chief Operating Officer Bai Ruixue said the 3D-Printed deployer(部署者) is much lighter and stronger than its kinds and it will have huge Potential in the space industry.
