“The one who gets wool(羊毛)is a kind person.” People in Tibet(西藏)always say this when they get together and eat “guthuk”. Guthuk is a kind of dough ball(面团)soup. It is the food for the new year festival in Tibet. The festival is also called, the Losar New Year. Guthuk is just like dumplings in the Spring Festival.
Eating guthuk is full of surprises. You can find some fun things in the dough balls. Each of the things has a special meaning. If you find wool inside a dough ball, it means you are kind; if you find salt inside, it means you are lazy; if you find a paper-drawn sun or a moon, it means you are lucky. A kid always wants to find a coin because it means the kid will get lots of pocket money in the new year. People eating guthuk must show the things they find. It’s really a wonderful experience.
Grandmas and moms usually make guthuk for the family. Kids’ job is to look for the wool, paper, and other fun things for them. People work together to make a nice and happy new year meal.
The Losar New Year is on the first day of the first month on the calendar of Tibet. It lasts for 15 days. This year, it started on February 21.
People always wear traditional clothes of Tibet during the festival. The clothes are wide and long, with lots of colors. Girls also wear beautiful necklaces and wool hats. People dress up to visit their family and friends. They say “Tashi Delek” for good luck.
People offer hada, a long scarf to each other with best wishes. They also put up hada scarves
to make their houses beautiful.
1.People in Tibet eat dumplings during the Losar New Year.
2.If you find salt inside the dough balls, it means you are lucky.
3.People must show the things in the dough balls when they eat guthuk.
4.People use hada to make their houses beautiful during the Losar New Year.
5.The passage talks about not only guthuk but also some customs of the Losar New Year.
根据“Guthuk is a kind of dough ball(面团)soup. It is the food for the new year festival in Tibet. The festival is also called, the Losar New Year. Guthuk is just like dumplings in the Spring Festival.”

根据“They also put up hada scarves to make their houses beautiful.”

People from some countries set up a certain festival to give thanks. But do you know there is a special day to say sorry
Every year on May 26, Australian people come together, sharing the healing and sorry for the Stolen Generations and their families. That day is called National Sorry Day.
The first National Sorry Day was held on May 26, 1998. After Europeans landed in Australia, the government intended to erase Aboriginal culture. Thus, great numbers of Aboriginal children were taken away from their families and placed in institutions. There, they were treated badly and raised according to Western culture instead of their own culture. Those poor kids, later known as
the “Stolen Generations”, never knew who their parents were or where they were. Their dark days finally ended on May 26, 1997 when a report, Bringing Them Home, came out. Thousands of Australians offered their apologies by writing messages and singing “sorry books” to the Stolen Generations. Since then, the National Apology has been a tradition in the country.
As a symbol of pride and power for Aboriginals, the Aboriginal flag can be seen everywhere that day. It is black (top) and red (bottom) with a yellow circle in the centre, which stands for the Aboriginals walking under the sun.
Besides raising Sorry Day flags, more activities take place around Australia nowadays. Many school children attend writing competitions and light candles for the Stolen Generations. Schools invite local Aboriginal elders to speak with students. Films about the Stolen Generations may also be shown for discussion. It’s not a public holiday, but everyone is welcome to take part in it.
Through National Sorry Day, Australians believe they will heal old wounds and right past wrongs.

Hello, Oscar!
Glad to hear you will come to China for a vacation during our National Day holidays. I’d like to introduce the festival to you.
National Day is on October 1st every year. It is my favorite festival because it is the birthday of our great motherland. The first National Day was celebrated in 1950 to mark the beginning of PRC and it has had a 73-year history so far. During the holiday people all over China celebrate it. The streets are hung up the red flags and beautiful lanterns. We can also watch fantastic military parade. Also, we have a seven-day holiday during the festival. Many people went on a trip with their family and friends. We are all happy and proud because of our great country. We love her and we are proud that we are Chinese. Welcome to China.
