Step 1:Lead-in Activity 1:Watch and say What happened in the video (A rainstorm hit the neighborhood.) Did you experience or hear of a storm in the past？ What should we prepare before a rainstorm (flashlights, matches, lighters, candles, food, water) 【Intention】Students can think about the situations and preparations of a storm. Step 2:Pre-Reading Activity 2:Background information Ben, a boy from Alabama, went through a rainstorm. Let’s read the passage and learn more about the rainstorm and his experience. Alabama: in the southeast of the United States. There are often tornadoes, hurricanes and rainstorms in March and April every year. 【Intention】Students can get some background information and imagine the situation according to the video.
