Mia, 12, is now on a year-long trip with her parents and three younger brothers. Far from their home in Quebec, Canada, the family rode horses in Mongolia, kayaked in Cambodia, camped in Namibia and flew in a hot air balloon in Turkey, looking to collect as many once-in-a-lifetime memories as they could.
The memories really matter because unless science makes a breakthrough soon, three of the children will become blind, likely in adulthood. They have been diagnosed with a disease that has no effective treatment and no specific timeline as it gradually robs them of their sight.
The diagnoses came in 2015. Despite the grief, the parents were surprised to find Mia, then 7, was calm about it. She announced that she would need to start keeping her bedroom especially neat, with everything in its place. “In the future, I’ll need to know where things are,” Mia said.
“She’s finding solutions on her own,” the parents told each other. “We need to follow her lead.” And so the idea of a yearlong trip was born, one that would show the kids the world, in person and at close range – while the kids could still see it. For the next two years, the parents saved money and researched places to visit. “How we adults see the world and how kids see the world are so different.” says the mother, Edith. “It would have to be less about temples and museums and more about whatever caught their eyes.”
By the time the trip began to wind down in early 2023 the family had traveled 52,000 miles and visited 18 countries. Mia grew taller and when entering adolescence, needed more independence. Her brothers became more confident and outgoing. The kids were very aware that they had learned a lot. “There’s a lot of suffering, a lot of poverty, but lots of good and interesting things too. We should be positive.” said Mia.

A. To lead in the story behind.
B. To arouse the readers’ interest.

D. To inform readers of a wonderful trip.
5. What can be inferred about the parents from paragraph 3 and 4
A. They are optimistic about the children’s disease.

C. They are proud of their daughter’s courage to face difficulties.
D. They are open-minded enough to respect their children’s decision.
6. What is the last paragraph mainly about
A. The details about the year-long journey.
B. The keen anticipation of Mia about the future.
C. The changes of the kids physically and mentally.
D. The impression Mia had of what she had experienced.
7. Which is the best title of the story
A. Seeing is believing.
B. Making the most of the vision.
C. Man who travels far knows more.
D. The eyes are the window to the soul.

While there are many milk substitutes (替代品) on the market, most fall short of imitating dairy milk. And while vegetarians around the world have grown accustomed to these substitutes, millions of milk drinkers are unsatisfied with these options, which don’t often taste, look, and blend like dairy milk. That accuracy is exactly what Impossible Foods has set out to develop. “We want milk that a dairy milk consumer will choose” said CEO Pat Brown at a virtual conference call.
Like the famous Impossible Burger which tastes, cooks, and bleeds like real meat, Impossible Milk will also most likely be soy-based, giving it a protein profile (外形) like dairy milk. While the product is still in development for at least another year, Brown said in the conference call that soy is a very good choice from a nutritional standpoint and a supply chain standpoint, and for those reasons he thinks there’s a great chance that it will be the base protein for their product.
Plant-based milk, meats, and other products have been rising over the past several years as environmental and health concerns have grown, especially among millennials (千禧一代). According to a study by YouGov, approximately 55 percent of millennials surveyed agree with the statement “I am open to substituting meat or dairy products with healthy substitutes”.
And the market is seeing this preference take shape. According to the Dairy Farmers of America, milk sales dropped by $1.1 billion between 2017 and 2018. While at the same time, the Plant-Based Food Association revealed that the sales of plant-based milk increased a lot, making up 15 percent of the total milk market.
As the trend towards choosing plant-based substitutes grows, so do the products, which can now be found in supermarkets throughout the world. With no plans of slowing down, plant-based food substitutes are a micro revolution that is changing the very culture of our food consumption from the bottom all the way to the top.
8. What is the target of Impossible Foods
A. To satisfy the increasing demand for milk. B. To attract more vegetarians to buy milk.
C. To make its milk more similar to dairy milk. D. To develop more nutritional milk substitutes.
9. What is most of the young generation’s attitude to plant-based milk
A. Intolerant. B. Unclear. C. Impartial. D. Favorable.
10. What do the figures in Paragraph 4 imply
A. The poor sales of milk substitutes. B. The success of Impossible Foods’s milk.
C. The booming market for plant-based milk. D. The competition among plant-based products.
11. What do we know about plant-based substitutes
A. They will change vegetarians’ diets. B. They are only sold in supermarkets.
C. They are expensive for most consumers. D. They have a strong effect on food culture.
D
Many got sleepless nights after Sora amazed the world with its remarkable ability of creating videos directly from text instructions. Discussions about what the artificial intelligence model can do and make a difference continue.
Some said it could give a huge blow to traditional industries such as film and television making, looking forward to the day when a movie can be created right after a novel is put into the model. But others remain skeptical about how powerful the model can be in changing the landscape of AI application.
Developed by a group of young talent from Microsoft-backed company OpenAI, the text-to-video model can generate videos up to a minute long while maintaining visual quality.
Shen Yang, a professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, said, “Sora represents a revolutionary leap in the field of AI-generated content (AIGC).”
As one of the leading scholars in AI research in China, Shen leads a team that studies the philosophy of AI. Until he learned about Sora, Shen was quite satisfied with his team’s AI-generated videos. A two-minute video on the Spring Festival produced by Shen’s team have recently won many likes on social media platforms. “Compared with the new model Sora, what we used are tools of the previous generation. There’s a huge gap in between,” said Shen.
As a frequent user of AI, Shen said the technology not only helps improve his productivity, but also benefits his daily life. His wife was suffering from cancer, and he used AI to assist in finding treatment, which has remarkably prolonged her life. He even wrote an award-winning science fiction novel using A.
However, new technologies do not mean good news to everyone. Many also concern about AI models’ safety issues since related regulations are lagging behind.
Sora is going to bring changes in many fields, including short video, film and television, news, games, advertising, education, and even industrial manufacturing, according to Shen. There is still much room to improve AI models. For instance, current AI models are not capable of drawing characters accurately and quickly. Shop signs lack meaning in Sora’s demo video showing a woman walking down a street in Tokyo. But these problems are believed to be solved as models update.
12. Which of the following might replace the underlined word in Paragraph 2
A. Push. B. Strike.
C. Warning. D. Bonus.
13. What can we know from the passage
A. All people cannot benefit from the new AI technologies.
B. AI model’s safety isn’t concerning despite lagging legal restrictions.
C. The AI-generated videos by Shen Yang’s team were better than those created by Sora.
D. The text-to-video model was developed by a group of young talent from Tsinghua University.
14. What kind of attitude does Shen have towards Sora
A. Reserved. B. Objective.
C. Unconcerned. D. Approving.
15. Which of the following is the best title
A. Sora: An AI video. B. Video Making: AI Models.
C. Sora: A Powerful AI Tool. D. Video Making: Future of AI.

第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“Mommy, don’t go,” my three year old son screamed as I walked to the door. My fifteen year old leaned against the kitchen counter with his arms folded across his chest, not screaming, but glaring at me as I pulled his little brother off my legs.
“Are you mad at me too ”
“You spend all your time taking care of other people’s kids but what about us ” Dylan left angrily.
I was shocked and a little hurt. How could my own child not understand that the work I was doing was saving lives Then the answer hit me. He didn’t know, because he had never seen what Healing the Children actually did. Dylan had heard the stories of sick children, but had never once looked into the eyes of a child and understood the hard truth—that without our help, the children would likely die.
“Get dressed. You are going with me,” I said.
I spent the drive explaining the case of Hector to my son, who pretended to ignore me the entire time. “He’s seven, only weighs thirty pounds and is very sick. He has a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, which could kill him. It is a miracle (奇迹) that he is still alive.”
I went on to explain that it took a team of volunteer medical staff to get Hector to the hospital from his remote village and care for him while he was there. Still, Dylan seemed unimpressed.
We stopped at a convenience store for water and snacks. Dylan had one large and one small Slurpee (思乐冰饮料). He said the small one was for Hector. I doubted whether the little guy would be able to drink it, but remained silent. This was the first interest Dylan had shown in being there. I wasn’t about to ruin it.
I stopped at the nurses’ station to check on Hector’s progress while Dylan went to his room. Our patient was recovering physically, but the nurse was concerned that Hector was struggling emotionally. She said, “Kids usually bounce back fast, but he hardly speaks and never smiles.”
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
Imagine my surprise when I heard laughter from Hector’s room
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
On the way home that night, Dylan asked me several times whether Hector would be okay.

By the time the trip began to wind down in early 2023, the family had traveled 52,000 miles and visited 18 countries. Mia grew taller and when entering adolescence, needed more independence. Her brothers became more confident and outgoing. The kids were very aware that they had learned a lot. “There’s a lot of suffering, a lot of poverty, but lots of good and interesting things too. We should be positive.” said Mia.

【答案】8. C 9. D 10. C 11. D

【9题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段的“According to a study by YouGov, approximately 55 percent of millennials surveyed agree with the statement “I am open to substituting meat or dairy products with healthy substitutes”. (根据YouGov的一项研究,约55%的千禧一代受访者同意“我对用健康替代品替代肉类或奶制品持开放态度”的说法)”可知,千禧一代对植物性牛奶持支持态度。故选D。
【10题详解】

【答案】12. B 13. A 14. D 15. C
【解析】
【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章讲述了Sora以其直接根据文字指令制作视频的卓越能力震惊世界,显示了人工智能的强大力量。
【12题详解】
词句猜测题。划线词句后半部分“looking forward to the day when a movie can be created right after a novel is put into the model (期待着把小说放进模型里,马上就能拍成电影的一天。)”
根据倒数第二段中“However, new technologies do not mean good news to everyone. Many also concern about AI models’ safety issues since related regulations are lagging behind. (然而,新技术并不对每个人都意味着好消息。由于相关法规滞后,很多人担心人工智能模型的安全性问题。)”可知,并非所有人都能从新的人工智能技术中受益。故选A项。
【14题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段“Shen Yang, a professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, said, ‘Sora represents a revolutionary leap in the field of AI-generated content(AIGC).’(清华大学新闻与传播学院教授Shen Yang表示:‘Sora代表了人工智能生成内容(AIGC)领域的革命性飞跃。’)”和第六段中“As a frequent user of AI, Shen said the technology not only helps improve his productivity, but also benefits his daily life. (作为一个经常使用人工智能的人,Shen Yang说这项技术不仅有助于提高他的工作效率,而且对他的日常生活也有好处。)”等内容可知,Shen Yang对Sora的态度是赞成的。故选D项。
【15题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,根据第一段中“Many got sleepless nights after Sora amazed the world with its remarkable ability of creating videos directly from text instructions. (在Sora以其直接根据文字指令制作视频的卓越能力震惊世界之后,许多人都失眠了。)”及第四段“Shen Yang, a professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, said, ‘Sora represents a revolutionary leap in the field of AI-generated content(AIGC).’(清华大学新闻与传播学院教授Shen Yang表示:‘Sora代表了人工智能生成内容(AIGC)领域的革命性飞跃。’)”

“Mommy, don’t go,” my three year old son screamed as I walked to the door. My fifteen year old leaned against the kitchen counter with his arms folded across his chest, not screaming, but glaring at me as I pulled his little brother off my legs.
“Are you mad at me too ”
“You spend all your time taking care of other people’s kids, but what about us ” Dylan left angrily.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
Imagine my surprise when I heard laughter from Hector’s room
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
On the way home that night, Dylan asked me several times whether Hector would be okay.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Para. 1:
Imagine my surprise when I heard laughter from Hector’s room. I entered and found Dylan sitting on the edge of Hector’s bed wiping pieces of frozen drink from Hector’s mouth. Both boys were giggling and Hector was apparently enjoying the company. I spent the rest of the day speaking to doctors and watching my son playing with the special little boy. It was truly amazing to watch them interact, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Perhaps to the two of them it was.
Para. 2:
On the way home that night, Dylan asked me several times whether Hector would be okay. I told him this boy would get well but he had a hard road ahead of him. My son seemed to be lost in thought for a while. Then he declared his decision to join Healing the Children as a volunteer to help Hector and other children. I never thought that a moody teenager would take up the voluntary work and never again complain about his mother’s crazy work schedule.
