For the past year, Dianne has been walking 2. 7 miles to the marketplace down Highland Road where she works. She used to do it five times a week since her car broke down last year.
It was tiring and time consuming for her but she didn't have a choice because of her financial situation. Everything changed when something unexpected happened.
She was walking home from work and she decided to stop at the gas station to grab a snack. However, before she could set her foot inside, she noticed something out of the ordinary. She looked down on the ground and found a plastic bag with a large sum of money in it. She was shocked to see how much money was inside the plastic bag but she wouldn't take it. As a grandmother of two, she knew exactly what to do.
She did what she knew was right and called the police. It didn't take long for the police officers to find the owners of the money since there were cards with their address. It turned out that the money was owned by a couple who got married earlier that day. The cash Dianne found was a total of $ 14,780 and the police returned it to the couple who owned it.
Dianne's honesty made a great impact on the police officers as well as their families. A police officer's wife set up a GoFundMe to help Dianne, hoping that a lot of people would be touched by her kindness. The GoFundMe has raised over $ 60,000.
Dianne received a brand-new Jeep as a reward for her good deed. Dianne said she would like to pay it forward so she was going to give her coworkers a ride when they needed one. She also has some advice for everyone: If you find something that doesn't belong to you, don't keep it.

Imagine being able to see perfectly in the dark. This dream has become a reality thanks to a newly developed technology. This technology consists of a thin film that will be placed on the lenses (镜片) of common glasses. The film is cheap to make, easy to produce, and is lightweight. It is actually 100 times thinner than a hair. Yet, despite its tiny size, its performance is impressive; this special film allows you to see in the dark.
This technology is able to transform infra-red light (红外光), normally invisible to the human eye, and turn this into images people can pared to animals, humans have very impoverished night vision. Over the years, night vision devices (设备) have been developed to help the medical, industrial, and scientific worlds. Scientists are able to study night-time animals by using infrared cameras, while companies use infrared imaging for food quality control.
Traditional infrared devices work by discovering the heat of an object. They use a cooler in low temperature and can be easily influenced by the heat noise. Such shortcoming led the team into exploring an improved device.
Their new device is able to function at room temperature. The new technology is unlike the traditional devices. Once this new night vision is used to all, it could save lives. Drivers will be able to see better at night, especially when driving on unlighted roads. Police can use them when searching at night, and hikers who lose their way can feel more confident walking in the dark.
The inventors are excited to make the practical uses. “While this is the first experiment, we are actively working to further advance the technology. Of course, the many uses are exciting and seeing in the dark opens up a new world for all,” said Mohsen Rahmani, lead developer of the technology.
28.What do we know about the film according to the first paragraph
A.It costs a lot to make. B.It is difficult to produce.
C.It looks like regular glasses. D.It helps us see in the dark.
29.What does the underlined word “impoverished” in paragraph 2 mean
A.Clear. B.Poor. C.Amazing. D.Effective.
30.What does paragraph 4 focus on about the new technology
A.Its likely buyers. B.Its future improvements.
C.Its practical applications. D.Its working conditions.
31.What can be inferred about the technology in Mohsen’s words
A.It needs to be further developed. B.It is not exciting enough to scientists.
C.It has become a hit in the experiment. D.It has been available to common people.

Animal appear to predict earthquakes by sensing electricity in the air — the first study to find reliable evidence of the phenomenon has shown.
Cameras revealed an “amazing” drop in the number of animals up to 23 days before a major quake hit their rainforest home at Yanachaga National Park in Peru. Lead scientist Dr Rachel Grant, from Anglia Ruskin University, said, “The results showed that just before the earthquake, animals’ activity dropped right down.”
On a normal day the cameras placed around Yanachaga National Park record between 5 and 15 animals. But in the 23 days before the earthquake, the number of animals dropped to five or fewer per day. No animals were photographed at all on five of the seven days immediately before the quake.
Another study showed that animal activity remained normal in the park over a different period when seismic (地震的) activity was low. Co-author, professor Friedemann Freund, said, “The cameras were located at an altitude of 900 meters. If air ionization occurred, the animals would escape to the valley below, where there were fewer positive ions ( 离子). With their ability to sense their environment, animals can help us understand small changes that occur before major earthquakes.”
Other evidence suggested that before the earthquake, the air around the high mountain sites filled with positive ions that can be produced when rocks are placed under stress. Positive ions have been known to cause ill effects in humans as well as animals. Scientists believe the animals were made to feel uncomfortable by the positive ions, leading them to avoid the area. They are thought to have escaped to lower ground, where the air was less ionized. The findings may help experts develop better short-term seismic forecasts.
32.How did scientists conduct the study
A.By comparing different animals’ habits.
B.By observing animals in high mountains.
C.By explaining the positive ion phenomenon.
D.By analyzing images(图像)of animals they obtained.
33.What can be inferred from animal activity before earthquakes
A.The ground at a lower altitude is less ionized.
B.Cameras normally record more animals per day.
C.Earthquake warnings can be detected in lower places.
D.The activity of animals and earthquakes is consistent.
34.What can we learn from the text
A.The findings make for accurate seismic forecast.
B.Animals tend to be uneasy with more positive ions.
C.Positive ions make humans and animals depressed.
D.All the animals remain abnormal before the earthquake.
35.What can be a suitable title for the text
A.Negative Influence of Positive Ions. B.Ions’ Destruction to the Environment.
C.Animals’ Behavior Before Earthquakes. D.Humans’ Ability to Predict Earthquakes.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
There are a lot of strategies for visiting a museum and avoiding “museum tiredness”. Consider what is mentioned below in planning. 36
Regardless of a museum’s size, you’ll get tired quickly if you try to look closely at every object displayed. Likewise, most museums provide lots of information about the objects on view. So don’t try to read everything. 37 “Tombstone” labels are very brief and provide facts about the artist, their country etc. There may be a number, which the museum uses to register the object, usually according to when it became a part of the collection, and a credit line that indicates the donor. Object labels are placed next to many objects. 38 The approach used to write museum labels has been much debated among art historians and museum professionals.
39 Ask for a map, or have museum staff suggest highlights in the collection or special exhibitions. Many museums have special tours, audioguides, or downloadable apps that point you to these objects.
Some people recommend setting a specific amount of time for your visit (1 or 2 hours). 40 In addition to benches in the galleries, most museums have a cafe, shop, sculpture courtyard or gardens where you can hang out and relax for a bit.
A.You’ll likely meet with two types of labels.
B.You are sure to make the most of your experience.
C.It’s always a good idea to stop by the information desk.
D.It would also be wise to plan frequent breaks in the galleries.
E.Note that these might not be artworks that you find appealing.
F.If you live near, consider frequent visits to the changed exhibitions.
G.These aim to give information not always obvious about the artwork.

When I was eleven years old, I moved to Tampa, Florida. My parents traveled for a living, so Aunt Emily took care of me while they were away. One rainy morning, there was an old lady who was dressed in a bright orange coat carrying a rubbish bag and a stick. “What’s that old lady doing ” I asked Emily, pointing out the window to the street in front of the house.
Hearing my question, Emily answered, “She’s picking up rubbish around here for fun.” “Oh,” I answered. “Interesting… Why would someone think picking up rubbish was fun ” For a long time, often saw that old lady—rain or shine—on my way to school. In the beginning, I thought she was crazy to pick up rubbish. However, I finally smiled and waved at her each time I saw her.
Later, when I moved to college, I’d see rubbish in the grass and feel really angry about it. I’d think, “Why isn’t anyone picking up rubbish People are so unconcerned!” But shortly after that, I said to myself, “Why do I think picking up rubbish is someone else’s duty ” And I couldn’t walk past trash without feeling guilty (内疚的).
So while walking in the college, I began picking up rubbish and made sure the campus was in better shape than I previously found it. My behavior influenced some students. They started to help out.
Like me, they also picked up rubbish whenever they noticed it. And our college became more beautiful. Seeing it, I began to think, “If I could pick up rubbish outside the college—in other places of the town, it may make a big difference to the town.”
But picking up rubbish in front of many people outside the college needs courage. It could be embarrassing. But it was the right thing to do. I decided to try it.

请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Paragraph 1:
One morning, I went out to pick up rubbish.
