In the year 2070, most of you will be more than 60 years old.
The good news is that travel might become smarter then. A European
company has made some predictions and released (发布) a report
about the future travel. Let's take a look at some cool ideas.
Using heartbeat passports Paper passports will not be needed anymore. You
will use "heartbeat passports" instead. According to
experts, people's heartbeats are different. So the data
(数据) will be used to tell who you are.
Experiencing more comfortable journeys The seats on the plane will no longer be "one size
fits all". You'll actually be able to book a seat
according to your body type.
Bringing history back to life If you like to visit historic sites (历史遗迹),
AR will change the game. Wearing the glasses, you
can see what happened at a historic site, such as a
famous war. You may even be able to sit among the
cheering people at the first Olympic Games.

Having printed clothes and food If you hate packing clothes, you may not need to
do it in the future. Before you fly, you will have a
body scan (扫描检查). And when you arrive at the
place, you'll find the 3D-printed clothes in your size.
When you leave, the clothes can be recycled and
reprinted for the next tourist. You can also print
whatever you want to eat with the 3D printer.

It's a feeling you've experienced before. You worry about whether
you've prepared well, and about the possible failure. The scientists
Ramirez and Beilock have found that students can do better in exams
if they spend ten minutes writing about their worries before the exams.
In order to make people believe their idea, the two scientists did
the experiment (实验) in the lab at first. They asked 20 college
students to take a math test. Before the test, half of the students sat
quietly and the other half wrote about their feelings on the coming test.
They found that the writing group did much better than the students
who sat quietly.
Later the two scientists ran the experiment again before a real
exam. This time, they worked with 50 ninth-grade students. The
students were required to have a 10-minute writing exercise before the
exam. Half of them had to write about their thoughts on the coming
exam, while the other half had to write about an unrelated
(不相干的) topic. Their final scores showed that if the students
wrote about unrelated topics, their scores were lower. If they wrote
about their worries, their bad feelings had no influence on their marks.
This study has obvious practical effect. The scientists found a
simple way of helping the anxious(焦虑的) students to perform at
their true level. They've also shown that the key to controlling our
worries is not to push them away, but to face them.

my fear of running was gone.

also get bored.
Boredom isn't good or bad. What matters are the choices that we
make. How can boredom be good for us Just consider boredom as a
"time-out" to clear our mind. This time can be used to create, reflect
and discover new thoughts and possibilities.

inspire creativity.

your emotions and thoughts. Self-reflection can help you understand

I am a plastic bottle. A week ago, I was on a supermarket shelf.
I had a normal life, the same as all my brothers and sisters — other
bottles full of water. I felt really happy. Then a tall woman picked me
up and put me in her basket!
The woman took me home and put me in the fridge. It was cold,
but I soon made friends with the cans and bottles in it. However,
only a few hours later, she took me out of the fridge and drank the
water inside me. Then she threw me into a dustbin. I have never felt
so empty and alone in my life.
Early the next morning, a man took me out of the dustbin. He
threw me and the other rubbish into the back of a truck. There were
so many horrible smells. Then I was pushed together with the rest of
the rubbish. Soon I was completely flat. I cannot believe how thin I
became.

I asked another bottle what would happen to us. He said that we

class collects waste which can be recycled or reused. Besides, a green
school saves energy. Students turn off the lights when they leave the
classroom.
To make our school greener, we students can do many things. First,
we can develop a green lifestyle. For example, we can choose the
public transport and use the cloth bags instead of plastic bags. Second,
we can save paper by reusing the textbooks and using both sides of
the paper.
If everyone takes a small step, our school will become greener.

Have you ever wondered why you go over a book again and
again and still feel lost when you are tested on what you've read It
may be because you haven't practiced retrieval(检索). Retrieval
practice is a useful way to help us learn.
Some of us remember best by listening, some by re-reading, and
others learn best by using diagrams (图表). Schools try many of
these different ways to help students "download" new information.
A recent study from Purdue University, the US, shows that
successful learning means being able to recall information at any
moment. "Learning is about retrieving important information at any
moment. So it is important to make retrieval practice an important part
of the learning process," said Jeffrey Karpicke, the lead researcher.
The research studied two groups of students. Both groups learned
something from a text. One group made diagrams about the text. The
other group practiced retrieval. They put the text away after learning it
and practiced freely recalling the concepts from the text.
Then, both groups were tested on the information they had learned.
Both groups did well in recalling the learned information. However,
when they were asked to return one week later, the group who
practiced retrieval scored higher than the group who made diagrams. So
by practicing retrieval, we are able to recall information far better,
which will help us study better.
Our mind, just like our body, has to practice properly to become
good at retrieving information.

Dear classmates,
I'm honored to share some of my learning methods with you.
As we all know, learning efficiency is very important for our
studies. But some students don't use their time properly. They don't do
their homework until the last minute and stay up late to play on
smartphones. There are other students who just don't have interest in
study. All of these influence their learning efficiency.
I have three suggestions for this. First, develop an interest in study.
Interest is the best teacher. Second, never put off till tomorrow what
you can do today. Make full use of your time to study and spare
some time to relax. Last but not least, make a study plan and ask
someone to help check it. That will make sure you meet your goal.
That's all. Thank you.

Volunteering is a great way to help other, whether it's a child
who has difficulty finishing his or her homework, or an elderly person
who feels lonely.
When somebody volunteers, they are doing something good for
others or the world around them without being paid. Volunteering
comes in all shapes and sizes. It can be organized, such as working
for an organization. Many people volunteer to help the environment by
picking up rubbish or planting trees.
Helping others can actually help yourself, too. Research has
shown that volunteering improves your well-being. It can give you a
sense of purpose and then help build your self-trust and make you
feel active. This is true if you match volunteering to your interests.

"Volunteering also offers you a chance to meet and connect with
others, which is good for your mental (心理) health," said Doctor
Wang. Volunteering can influence your health. By giving something to

Be an inventor!____________________
The biggest secret about inventing is that anybody can do it! Perhaps
this sounds crazy, but it's true. Maybe you have the wrong idea about
inventing, so read on to discover the truth.
Wrong idea number 1:
An invention has to be something completely new.
Well, inventing means creating something "new", but the idea could come from something that already exists (存在). The Wright Brothers, for example, got the idea for building a "flying machine" from watching birds.
续表
Wrong idea number 2:
Inventors are born, not made.
There are a lot of factors (因素) that make invention possible. Take Mozart, for example. He was born with a talent for musical composition. But other factors were also important for his creativity. His father was a music teacher, and Mozart practised for hours every day, from the time he was in kindergarten.
续表
Wrong idea number 3:
Inventors are always old people.
Don't believe that you can't invent things when you are young.
Louis Braille went blind when he was a child. When he was 15, he invented a tool which is still used in most countries today — a system of reading and writing for blind people. You see, young people can be inventors too.

Are field trips worth all the time and effort Most teachers have
asked themselves this question when they prepare for a field trip. The
truth is that field trips can cause quite a few headaches for teachers.
They may not enjoy field trips. At the same time, well-planned field
trips can provide students with truly educational experiences. The
following is a look at the advantages and disadvantages of field trips.
Field trips provide students with new chances for learning through
experiences. First of all, field trips provide students with the ability to
learn by doing instead of just listening in class. Students can have new
experiences that, hopefully, open their eyes. Also, students and teachers
can see each other in a different light, helping to increase
communication between them. Some students might really come alive
on field trips while they might be forgotten in class because they are
quiet.
However, teachers face a number of difficulties when planning a
field trip. Field trips need preparation if teachers want to make them
meaningful. They have to carefully choose places for travelling. They
also need to create an effective lesson plan. Besides, field trips are
usually expensive, and some students may not have the money to
attend. Organizers of the field trip may consider asking for parents to
add a few dollars to help students in need.
So next time when you plan a field trip, you can follow these
instructions...

A Meaningful School Trip
Recently, our class organized a meaningful school trip. We were all
excited and learned a lot.
The theme of the trip was discovering nature. We took the trip at
a nearby park. During our trip, we observed the lovely plants and took
photos of them. We also picked up the litter we saw. After getting
home, I studied the plants in the photos and searched for more
information on the Internet.
Through this activity, I learned to enjoy nature and protect our
environment. I think it is necessary for us students to take part in such
meaningful activities. They really help open our eyes and make us feel
both relaxed and happy.
