director 意为“导演;主管;经理”,是名词,其动词形式为direct,意为“指示;命令”。例如:

2.Thank you for showing us around. 谢谢您带我们参观。
(1)thank you for doing sth. =thanks for doing sth.意为“谢谢你做某事”,for是介词,后跟名词、代词或动名词,表示感谢的原因。例如:

(2)show sb. around=take sb. around,意为“带某人参观,给某人做向导”。例如:

3.When it’s on, it means we’re on air. 当它(红灯)亮时,表示我们
正在广播。
(1)be on意为“ (灯)亮着;上映;演出;在进行”。例如:

(2)be on air意为“(广播或电视)播出,正在广播中”。其中on是介词,意为“通过;借助于”,表达方式或手段。例如:

avoid doing sth.意为“避免做某事”。avoid意为“避免;防止”,后面接名词、代词或动名词作宾语。例如:

(1)keep doing sth.= keep on doing sth.意为“坚持做某事,不间断地做某事”,不与表示瞬间动作的动词连用。例如:

(2)hope是动词,意为“希望”,后可接不定式或宾语从句,意为“希望……”。例如:

look down意为“向下看”。引申的词组有look down upon,意为“轻视,看不起”等。反义词组有look up to,意为“尊敬”,look up意为“抬头看”。例如:

2.Shouldn’t you be at school 难道你不应该在学校吗
这是一个否定疑问句,用于表示惊奇。否定疑问句常用于表示惊奇、责备、建议等,意为“难道……”。
回答否定疑问句时, 要注意英语与中文习惯的不同。用yes还是no, 应以答语的内容为准。答语是肯定就用yes,答语是否定就用no。但注意,此时yes和no的中文意思正好是相反的。例如:

(2)语序
宾语从句都用陈述句语序:主+谓+引导词+主+谓+其他成分。例如:
“He is an honest boy.” the teacher said.→The teacher said (that) he was an honest boy.
Does he work hard?I wonder.→I wonder if/whether he works hard.
When did he leave?I don’t know. →I don’t know when he left.
(3)时态
①如果主句的时态是一般现在时,宾语从句的时态根据具体情况来确定,可以是任意时态。例如:
She says (that) she will leave a message on his desk. 她说她要在他的桌子上留个便条。
②如果主句的时态是一般过去时,宾语从句只能用相应的过去时态(一般过去时、过去进行时、过去将来时、过去完成时)。例如:
He told me that he had told Mary about the meeting already. 他告诉我,他已经把有关会议的事告诉了玛丽。
③如果宾语从句所陈述的是客观事实或名言,即使主句用了过去时,从句仍用现在时态。例如:
My mother told me that a friend in need is a friend indeed. 妈妈告诉我,患难中的朋友才是真正的朋友。

(1)若形容词是描述行为者的性格或品质的,如kind,good,nice,clever,polite等,则用of。例如:

(2)若形容词是描述事物性质的,如difficult,easy,hard,important,dangerous等,则用for。例如:
