1.—Who’s calling, please 请问你是谁?

打电话用语归纳:
(1)问“你是谁”: Who’s calling / Who’s that (speaking) / Is
that ... speaking

另外,在打电话用语中或在有人敲门时,不知道对方是男是女,一般都不用“Who are you ”来提问,而是用“Who’s that ”或“Who’s it ”来提问。

have a problem with sth./sb.意为“在某事上或与某人有麻烦”; have a problem in doing sth. 意为“做某事有麻烦”。例如:
Teenagers often have problems with their parents.青少年常常与父母闹别扭。
I don’t have any problems in moving the huge stone. 搬动这块大石头我一点问题都没有。
3.Don’t tell me who she is. Tell me when the problem started. 不要告诉我她是谁,告诉我问题是什么时候开始的。
这是两个由特殊疑问词引导的宾语从句。who在从句中作表语;when在从句中作状语,表示时间,它们后面接的句子要用陈述句语序。例如:
Could you tell me where you are from 你能告诉我你来自哪里吗?
4.We got separated when we went to different schools last term.上学期我们去不同的学校上学时分开了。
separate可作动词和形容词。作为动词,既可以作及物动词,也可以作不及物动词。
(1)作为及物动词,意为“使分开;分隔”。常用于“separate... from...”,意为“把……和……分开”,表示把原来连在一起或靠近的“分隔”开来。例如:
The Pacific Ocean separates Asia from America. 太平洋把亚洲和美洲分隔开。
(2)作为不及物动词,意为“分开;隔离”。例如:
Although we live a hard life, we never separate. 虽然我们生活过得艰苦,但是我们从未分开。
(3)作为形容词,意为“分开的;单独的”。例如:
The children have separate bedrooms.孩子们有各自的卧室。

(2)explain +名词/代词/宾语从句/“疑问词+动词不定式”结构。例如:
The little boy explained why he was late.小男孩解释了他为什么迟到。

6.Do you know why she treats you like that 你知道她为什么那样对待你吗?
treat作动词,意为“对待;看待”,常用于treat sb. like/as,意为“把某人当作……看待”。例如:
My mother always treats me as a child.我妈妈总是把我当作孩子看待。
7.I’m sure she regrets hurting you.我确信她后悔伤害了你。
regret作动词,意为“懊悔;遗憾”。常用于以下结构:
(1)regret to do sth.意为“后悔去做某事”,指因为即将做的事情感到遗憾、抱歉,强调事情未做。例如:
I regret to tell you that you didn’t pass the exam.我遗憾地告诉你,你考试没有通过。
(2)regret doing sth. 意为“后悔做了某事”,指因为做了某事而感到后悔。例如:

Unit 3(第五课时)
1.由whether或if 引导的宾语从句
whether,if意为“是否”,当宾语从句要表达不肯定或疑问的概念时,从句由whether或if来引导,不能用that。whether和if在从句中不可省略。例如:
I don’t know whether/if he will help me. 我不知道他是否会帮助我。
【注意】一般情况下, if 和whether可以互换, 但以下4种情况只能
用whether:
(1)在不定式之前。例如:
We don’t decide whether to go to Beijing or not.我们还没决定是否去北京。
(2)在介词之后。例如:
It depends on whether you want to do it.这取决于你是否想去做这件事。
(3)与or not连用表示选择意义时。例如:
They are talking about whether to buy a car or not.他们正在讨论是否买一辆汽车。
(4)在句首时,用whether不用if。例如:
Whether he will come or not is a problem. 他来不来还是个问题。
2.由疑问词引导的宾语从句
当特殊疑问句变成宾语从句时,疑问词在句中既起连接作用,又作句子成分,有实际意义。引导宾语从句的连接代词主要有who, whom, whose, what, which;连接副词主要有why, where,when,how等。连接代词在从句中作主语、宾语、表语或定语等;连接副词在句中作状语。例如:
He wants to know where you are from.他想知道你来自哪里。
I wonder why she cried.我想知道她为什么哭了。
