语法:if型省略结构
(1)在if引导的条件状语从句中,有时可以省略从句的主谓语it is/was,有时可省略从句中的there be或省略从句中与主句相同的部分,在这类省略结构中有的已构成固定结构,这类结构常见的有:
if+so/not:if so如果这样;if not不然
if+形容词:if necessary 如果有必要;if possible 如果有可能
if+代词:if any如果有的话;即使有……也不(主句为否定意义)
if ever:如果曾经;即使……也不(与表示否定意义的词语连用)

(2)在if引导的条件状语从句中,如果从句的主语和主句的主语一致,同时从句谓语含有be动词,则可省略该从句的主语和be动词,这时if从句有以下常见结构:if+现在分词/if+过去分词。

语法:现在分词(短语)做定语
(1)做定语的现在分词可以表示所修饰名词的用途。
a waiting room=a room for waiting 候车室
a reading room=a room for reading阅览室
a sleeping car=a car for sleeping一节卧铺车厢
(2)做定语的现在分词可以表示正在进行的动作,也可以表示经常性的动作或当时的状态,可以换成定语从句。
a crying girl=a girl who is crying 一个哭泣的女孩
a working woman =a woman who is working一个在工作的女人
an ordinary-looking man =a man who looks ordinary一个相貌平平的男人
(3)单个的现在分词做定语常常置于所修饰的名词之前。
He is a modest and understanding man.
他是一个谦虚且善解人意的人。
My grandpa needs a walking stick.
我爷爷需要一根手杖。
(4)现在分词短语做定语常常置于它所修饰的名词之后。
The man talking with our headmaster is my father.
和我们校长谈话的那个人是我父亲。
The boy reading in the library must be hardworking.
那个在图书馆读书的男孩一定很努力。

1. Around 1,100 sites in more than 160 countries worldwide.
2. Wars can cause a great deal of damage to both natural and cultural heritage sites. Sometimes, amazing ancient clay sculptures and buildings are accidentally destroyed by missile attacks during periods of violence. In some conflict areas where civil wars often break out, fighters have even destroyed heritage sites on purpose.
