2024年中考英语复习 阅读理解 12篇 河北省 二模 模拟汇编(23--24)
(2024·河北唐山·二模)From an early age, we were taught that if we wanted to be successful, we had to study hard and get good results at school. In fact, good students may just end up (最终) doing jobs they don’t like, and some even lead an unhappy life. Why is it like that
In some parents’ eyes, school grades matter most for their kids. In fact, there are many things to consider besides the school subjects, for example, how to be a happy person, what to do to keep healthy, and how to get on well with others. That is to say, school is not just enough if you want to have a great life.
Doing well in school is different from doing well in life. Studies show that people who failed at school may not end up failing in life. You may have already known that some famous people, like Thomas Edison and Steve Jobs, didn’t do very well at school or even failed to finish school. But they seize every chance to learn and finally make it to the top.
Life is really a long lesson, so long that you can’t define (界定) a person’s success by just one part of it. If you have already finished school, keep learning because what you have learned at school will never be enough to live a pleasant life. If you are still studying, whether you are good or bad at school, don’t take your school results too seriously as long as you have put your heart into it. Keep learning to make the most of your talents. That’s how you can live a happy and successful life.

(2024·河北邯郸·二模)Do you know a large number of young people are influenced by all kinds of choices today This can be a good thing or a bad thing, but it leads some young people to experience “mental internal friction (精神内耗)”.
Experts regard “mental internal friction” as the confusion (困惑) that happens when people have to change their thoughts in order to move from “old ideas” to “new ideas”. They have to ask themselves such questions as “Are the new ideas good ” “Do they fit me ” or “Will they make me feel happy ” It is certainly not easy to discover the answers to these questions, especially when you are still too young to have enough life experience to make proper decisions. So there are some suggestions to help you reduce your “mental internal friction”.
Be consistent with yourself. Always act and behave in a way that is true to your values and beliefs. To this end, you will always need to check yourself. As an old saying goes, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom (智慧).” You have to honestly think about your own personal habits, and even fears and worries.
Develop new interests. A friend of mine decided to learn about the Beijing Opera. This may sound strange, but he said that learning about “old things” made it easier for him to deal with the “new things” of modern life and all of those changes.
Spend time with nature. Society and technology may change, but nature remains the same. Being with nature takes some time, but it will help you know yourself and forget the stress of “mental internal friction”.
All in all, we can do something to deal with “mental internal friction”. Hope everything can make you find your inner peace (内心的平静).

A.Staying up late to work. B.Having bad relationships.

7.What does Paragraph 2 mainly tell us
A.Most people are used to changing thoughts.
B.Young people have less experience in making proper decisions.

8.Which sentence is close to the underlined sentence
A.Change your habits. B.Improve your wisdom.
C.Always be true to yourself. D.Face your fears bravely.
9.What can nature help us with the “mental internal friction”
A.Let go of our stress. B.Accept ourselves.
C.Deal with new things easier. D.Develop new interests.
10.Which can be a proper title for the text

(2023·河北保定·二模)Every year, with the Spring Festival on its way, it’s time to start thinking about everyone’s favorite topic; gifts! More specifically (确切地), the giving of gifts and the culture behind them. I have found gift giving to be quite different in China from my home country.
One example is the time of when to open a gift. The person who gives a gift is called the “gifter”. The person who gets a gift is called the “giftee”. In the US, the gifter will often want to see the giftee open the present instantly. The gifter wants to see the giftee’s reaction (反应) of excitement and joy. In China, however, it’s more polite to thank the gifter for the gift but open it later in the giftee’s home.
Also, I find the difference is the openness and directness of giving money. Although people in the US might give money to their children, it is usually done very secretly with the money put in a card and not discussed out loud. In China, it is much more open. For example, kids get lucky money from parents during Spring Festival.
Finally, the value of the gift can play a big role in China in ways. This is different from the US. An expensive gift in the US is usually greeted with great excitement. But in China, it can make the giftee feel awkward (尴尬的) because of a sense of having to return the favor (恩惠) in the future to the gifter.
So, the next time you give a gift to somebody, remember that culture and meaning are part of every action we take.
