How to save money to visit Shanghai Disneyland
The “happiest place on earth” is a top destination on many families’ bucket lists. But taking a vacation to Disney World can be difficult to do on a budget. There are some considerations that you can make to reduce the cost of your Disney World vacation.
1. Buy Souvenirs in Advance
Disney has influenced practically every industry, which makes it easy to find Disney items anywhere, from Walmart, Target, and your local grocery store to department stores and Amazon. You can save a lot of money by purchasing items before your trip at these less-expensive places than at Disneyland.
2. Make an Autograph Book
An autograph book is seen as a must-have by many Disneyland enthusiasts and is a memory you can take home with you. These books can cost anywhere from $7.95 to $19.95 at the Disney Store and up to $30 for the latest-and-greatest autograph book at Disneyland, such as the park’s 60th anniversary edition. Other choices can get the job done for under $5.For example, you can buy a small photo album, cute pads or notebooks.
3. Eat Breakfast before You Arrive
Breakfast is almost as pricey (昂贵的) as lunch or dinner if you eat inside the Disneyland parks. If you have a hotel with a free breakfast, take advantage of it. If you want to eat out, eat at a local restaurant that is inexpensive or has a kids’ menu, such as McDonald’s which is close to the park.
4.Take Advantage of Discounts Offered to Special Groups
Disney offers a wide variety of discounts, including for military service members, college students, teachers, and youth groups. If you think you might qualify for a special discount or group rate, call the Disneyland Resort to book tickets.
21. It may take you more money to buy souvenirs at .
A. Disneyland B. Department stores C. Walmart D. Amazon
22. How much do you pay for the park’s 60th anniversary edition
A. $7.95. B. $19.95. C. $5. D. $30.
23. What is one piece of the author’s advice on breakfast
A. You had better eat at Disneyland. B. You can eat at a local restaurant.
C. You should prepare it well at home. D. You can ask the hotel to supply it for free.

Michael Faraday was the son of a blacksmith. There were four children in his family and, with his father often ill and unable to work, Michael Faraday had to earn his living from an early age. This meant little or no schooling. However, the family belonged to a religious group, and Faraday learnt to read and write at Sunday School.
When he was only fourteen, Faraday found a job as a bookbinder (装订工). He used to read the books he was given to bind and he became very interested in the scientific books, particularly the ones about electricity. His interest soon took a practical path and he began conducting his own experiments. These were very basic because Faraday had to make all of his equipment himself. However, he was very careful and kept a clear written record of all his findings.
One day he was given an entrance ticket to the Royal Institute chemistry lecture, given by Humphry Davy. Determined to work for this great scientist, he sent Davy a job application and included his laboratory reports on the experiments he had carried out. In 1813 Davy offered Faraday a job as one of his laboratory assistants. Faraday learnt quickly and soon was recognized as a very able analytical chemist. Later he went to work at the Royal Institute.
Michael Faraday was, perhaps, the greatest practical scientist of the 19th century. As a chemist, he discovered the benzene (苯), which is now the focal point of chemical study. He also proved the relationship between electricity and chemical bonding (化学键). As a physicist, he invented the dynamo, which led to the later invention of the electric motor. He also discovered the effect of magnetism (磁) on light rays.
24. Why did Faraday attend Sunday School
A. He had to work for a bookbinder at weekdays.
B. He hoped to read many of the scientific books there.
C. He would like to learn religious knowledge.
D. His family couldn’t afford his normal school education.
25. When working as a bookbinder, Faraday ______.
A. published his great findings on electricity B. made his own equipment for his experiments
C. read many books by Humphry Davy D. gained his fame as a practical scientist
26. In order to get a chance to work for Davy, Faraday ______.
A. bought tickets to attend Davy’s lecture B. sent his experiment reports to Davy
C. went to the Royal Institute to visit Davy D. offered to do laboratory work for free
27. Which of the following is the right order of Faraday’s life
a.A laboratory assistant. b.A student of Sunday School.
c.A bookbinder. d.An analytical chemist.

Twenty-five years ago, most young Britons wanted a career in law, to be a doctor, or, if they were creative enough, to take up singing. But today, things stand differently.
According to a survey by Tesco Mobile, a UK company, the “dream job” of young people aged between 16 and 25 in the UK is a video blogger, or “vlogger”. The survey, carried out among 1,002 people, found that as much as 40 percent of them put vlogger as their number one choice on a list of ideal careers.
This change is undoubtedly as a result of the Internet and social media. They have made it so much easier to reach audience of the world, without having to enter a career in show business in the traditional way.
In the past, the biggest stars were trained by the Hollywood studios; now, anyone with a computer camera can become a star. Vloggers are the big stars of today because they are normal people interacting with their fans about everyday life.”
However, what people see is only the bright side of being a vlogger and they fail to notice the fact that only those who are successful earn fame and fortune. For every success there are hundreds of others who never get off the starting line. There are the dreams that come true and the dreams that remain dreams forever.
Although being vloggers is popular, some young people choose to follow careers that don’t necessarily earn them fame, but allow them to make good use of the Internet to share their hobbies. Young Israeli David Leshaw, for example, runs a business called the Finishers Club. It’s an online platform for runners to keep a record of their races. His job allows him to express his enthusiasm, and is always a learning experience. And that’s enough for him.
28. What is the passage mainly about
A. Most young Britons choose to be vloggers as their job.
B. The Internet is influencing young Britions’ career choice.
C. The Internet is taking the place of traditional studios.
D. Young Britons can not find jobs without the Internet.
29. Why do more and more young Britons choose to be vloggers
A. Vloggers can earn little fame and money on the Internet.
B. There is too much competition in the traditional show business.
C. The Internet makes it convenient to become vloggers.
D. Anyone with a computer will surely become a star.
30. What can we infer from the fifth paragraph
A. Only a few vloggers can be successful.
B. A vlogger can not earn fame and fortune.
C. People often see the bright side of being a vlogger.
D. Dreams will always remain to be dreams.
31. What do young people like David do on the Internet
A. Learn from others. B. Become an online hit.
C. Hold running races. D. Mix jobs with hobbies.
【答案】28. B 29. C 30. A 31. D

More than two thirds of the world's polar bears will be wiped out by 2050,according to a shocking new study. By then, scientists say, global warming will have melted 42 percent of the Arctic sea ice. By 2100,only a very few of these important creatures will be left.
The report has been produced by the US Geological Survey. The scientists have publicized their findings in the hope of influencing US Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne, who has been asked to put polar bears on the US endangered species list.
Polar bears depend on floating sea ice as a platform for hunting seals, which are their main food. Without enough ice, polar bears would be forced to go onto the land, where they are poorly skilled hunters, and would be unlikely to adapt to the life on the land in time. Experts say few little bears would survive and the stress could make many females unable to get pregnant.
The team of American and Canadian scientists spent six months studying bears,on the ground, from spotter planes and in the lab, using computer models.
Some team members fear the result is even worse for the bears than what their report says. They say the Arctic is warming faster than anywhere in the world and much faster than their computer had been forecasting. Satellite observations have showed that the ice has decreased to an all-time low.
However, not everyone in the scientific community believes that global warming is happening on such an alarming scale. Another investigation has found that polar bears are still being hunted by wealthy “sportsmen” who want their skins and heads. At least ten international companies offer bear-hunting trips.
32. What do we know about Dirk Kempthorne according to the passage
A. He is an animal scientist.
B. He is a protector of animals working for the US government.
C. He was asked to put polar bears on the US endangered species list.
D. He offered to put polar bears on the endangered species list.
33. Why will polar bears die out if there is not enough sea ice
A. Because polar bears can't catch enough food without ice.
B. Because polar bears eat ice when they feel thirsty.
C. Because polar bears will be easily found by hunters without ice.
D. Because most female bears are used to giving birth under ice.
34. After a six-month study,some scientists fear that ________.
A. there is something wrong with their computers
B. polar bears will disappear even faster than they ever expected
C. their computer models are not as accurate as they expected
D. global warming will destroy everything in the Arctic
35. What does the writer want to tell us in the last paragraph
A. The forecast about the future of polar bears is not correct.
B. Global warming won't have any effect on hunting trips in the Arctic.
C. Polar bears are an endangered species as a result of bear-hunting.
D. People don't pay enough attention to the protection of endangered species.
【答案】32. C 33. A 34. B 35. D

Good morning, my name is Li Hua. It's a great honor to be here and to share with you the story of how music has had an impact on my life.
There was a time when I felt greatly depressed because I moved and was thrown into a totally different world. So lonely was I that I drowned myself to music. Gradually I got familiar with different musicians and their works. Then one day our teacher asked us to discuss music in class. For the first time I raised my hand. Miraculously, many boys and girls came to me praising my knowledge of music after that class. They also began to invite me to their homes and parties. Thus, not only did music help me cope with loneliness then but also brought me opportunities to open the gate of a new life.
That's all. Thank you.

One summer, the neighborhood where she lived would hold a singing competition. Her best friend, Lucy, came to invite her to participate in the competition, but Emily said, “I’m afraid to take part in it.” Her mother said, “It’s okay; just do it bravely.” Emily followed her mama’s advice and decided to give herself a try. The day came. Emily and Lucy went to the competition site. But she was too timid (胆小的)to walk onto the stage. She had been waiting until others finished singing. She shakily (颤抖地)forced herself to stand on the stage. She started to sing, but her voice was so low. What’s worse, she was so nervous that she forgot the lyrics (歌词)after singing a few words. Being laughed at by others, embarrassed and shy, she ran away from the stage.
Some naughty boys ran after her and said, “Emily, coward (胆小鬼)!Emily, coward!” Emily didn’t argue with them. What she wanted was to go back home as quickly as she could. Finally, she rushed into the house, hugged her mom and cried sadly.
“Well, my poor girl, don’t cry. Tell me what happened to you,” asked her mom. Emily looked up at her mother and told her what she had experienced.
Listening to her, her mom cupped her face and said, “It doesn’t matter, girl. As long as you practice singing more in front of strangers, you will become braver little by little.
2 Make an Autograph Book
An autograph book is seen as a must-have by many Disneyland enthusiasts and is a memory you can take home with you. These books can cost anywhere from $7.95 to $19.95 at the Disney Store and up to $30 for the latest-and-greatest autograph book at Disneyland, such as the park’s 60th anniversary edition.

30 What can we infer from the fifth paragraph
A. Only a few vloggers can be successful.
B. A vlogger can not earn fame and fortune.
C. People often see the bright side of being a vlogger.
D Dreams will always remain to be dreams.
31. What do young people like David do on the Internet

C. Hold running races. D. Mix jobs with hobbies.

More than two thirds of the world's polar bears will be wiped out by 2050,according to a shocking new study. By then, scientists say, global warming will have melted 42 percent of the Arctic sea ice. By 2100,only a very few of these important creatures will be left.
The report has been produced by the US Geological Survey The scientists have publicized their findings in the hope of influencing US Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne, who has been asked to put polar bears on the US endangered species list.

A. Because polar bears can't catch enough food without ice.
B Because polar bears eat ice when they feel thirsty.

Once there was a little girl named Emily. Although her singing was very pleasant to hear, lacking of courage, she never dared to sing in front of strangers.
So, my girl, don’t be beaten by a failure. You can go out to practice singing every day. No matter who is listening to you, go on singing and never stop. I believe there will be a harvest for you.”
