教材分析
该板块由四部分组成。第一部分是语言知识检测,包括两个活动。活动1要求学生用所给本单元重点词语改写句子,旨在引导他们丰富语言表达形式。活动2的匹配练习涉及本单元核心语法名词性从句的不同种类,旨在引导学生把握这几种从句的句子结构,并积累名词性从句的典型句式。第二部分是单元内容评价和自我反思,旨在引导学生进一步挖掘单元主题,运用所学知识表达对该主题的理解。第三部分是项目活动,活动主题是制作宣传册,“向来访的外国学生介绍自己的学校”(Tell visiting students about your school)。“该部分要求学生合作完成有一定挑战性的任务。第四部分是Video Time,通过展示四位外国留学生分享在中国的生活感受,激发学生的文化自信和进一步思考留学生在文化交流中的作用。
教学目标
在本课学习结束时,学生能够:
1. 正确使用本单元所学的语块知识并进行不同表达;
2. 把握并运用几种名词性从句的典型句式;
3. 用本单元所学知识合作制作学校的宣传册;
4. 理解外国留学生来中国留学的原因和留学生在文化交流中的作用。

教学过程
Step 1 Reviewing
1. Rewrite the sentences with the correct forms of the words or phrases in brackets.
设计意图:复习巩固重点词汇语块的不同表达方式,比较并体会语言表达的丰富性。
2. Match the phrases or clauses below to make complete sentences.
设计意图:通过句式匹配练习复习巩固本单元语法—名词性从句,把握这几种从句的句子结构,并积累名词性从句的典型句式。
Step 2 Reflecting
Answer the questions in Reflecting.
设计意图:引导学生思考本单元内容,并运用本单元所学进行分享表达。
Step 3 Project
1. Look at the picture. What information is usually contained in a school booklet
2. Suppose a group of exchange students are coming from Australia to study in your school for a year. Work in groups and help your headmaster to design a booklet about your school. Think about the following questions.
(1) What the visiting students might need to know about your school
(2) What other information might attract the visiting students’ interest
(3) What do you think the visiting students might be most interested in about your school
设计意图:通过头脑风暴的形式让学生了解学校宣传册的基本内容和功能,为后面的活动做铺垫。
3. Give instructions for designing a school booklet.
设计意图:帮助学生明确任务分工,进行小组合作制作宣传册。
4. Share your booklet with classmates.
设计意图:给学生提供展示作品机会,引导学生欣赏并评价作品。
Step 4 Pre-viewing
1. Why are more and more foreigners coming to study or work in China
设计意图:热身活动,让学生了解留学生热潮这一现象并讨论其背后的原因。
2. What do you think the foreign students in the video enjoy most about China Tick the items that you think will be mentioned. What other things might foreigners be interested in about China
设计意图:引导学生预测视频内容并开展头脑风暴列出更多外国人喜欢的内容。
Step 5 Viewing
1. Watch the video.
2. Fill in the table with information about each person.
3. Watch again to complete these quotes with the words you hear in the video.
设计意图:引导学生观看视频内容并完成相应练习,达到理解运用的目的。
Step 6 Post-viewing
Group discussion.
(1) Imagine that your family is hosting an international student. What would you want to share with him/her about China
(2) If you had a chance to go overseas as an international student, which country would you go to why
设计意图:通过讨论帮助学生深化对视频内容的理解并形成自己的观点。
Step 7 Assignment
1. Finish exercise 1-2 on P68 & exercise 1-2 on P69;
2. “Visit” more famous schools in foreign countries online.
设计意图:结合workbook的相关部分的练习巩固所学语言知识;鼓励学生利用网络查找搜集资料,培养探究精神。
