【词汇用法】
1.progress的用法
(1)作动词,意为“进展;进步”。
(2)作名词,意为 “进步;进展;前进”。 其常用短语有:make progress (in…)(在……方面)取得进展;in progress在进行中;在举行。
如:With the teacher's help,he has made great progress in English.在老师的帮助下,他在英语方面取得了很大进步。
2.wonder v.(对某事)感到疑惑;想要知道;想弄明白;琢磨。
其后常接由what,who,how或者if/whether(是否)引导的宾语从句。注意宾语从句用陈述句语序。
如:I wonder if you can help me.我想知道你是否能帮助我。
3.unusual adj.特别的;不寻常的
unusual是由usual加否定前缀un 派生而来。其反义词为usual,意为“通常的;平常的”。
拓展:“un+形容词”相当于否定意义的形容词。un 表示“不,未,无,相反,解除”之意。know→unknown未知的;tidy→untidy不整洁的;凌乱的;kind→unkind不客气的;believable→unbelievable令人难以置信的; comfortable→uncomfortable不舒服的。
4.encourage v.鼓励
encourage为及物动词,常用结构:encourage sb.to do sth.鼓励某人做某事;encourage sb. in…在……方面鼓励某人。其名词形式为encouragement,反义词为discourage。
如:I encourage him to cook the meal by himself.我鼓励他自己做饭。
5.peaceful的用法
peaceful为形容词,由“peace+ ful”构成。意为“和平的;安宁的”,常作定语或表语。
It's so peaceful in the country. 乡下是那么宁静。
peace n.和平, 其反义词为war战争。
拓展: ful是常见的形容词后缀,表示“充满……”。color→colorful色彩丰富的;beauty→beautiful美丽的;use→useful有用的。
拓展:
peace 不可数名词,意为“和平;平静”。
All nations want peace.
各国人民都要和平。
6.collect的用法
动词,意为“采集;收集”。
如:I like collecting stamps.我喜欢收集邮票。
拓展:(1)collection是collect的名词形式,意为“收藏品”。
(2)collector可数名词,意为“收藏家;收藏者”。
7.辨析think about,think over与think of
(1)think about 意为“考虑;思考;认为”。其后可接名词、代词、动名词,“疑问词+动词不定式”结构或宾语从句。
(2)think over意为“仔细考虑”。它为动副型短语,其后接名词、代词、宾语从句等作宾语(名词可置于over之前或之后, 代词应置于think与over之间)。
(3)think of意为“想起、想到;思考,认为”。
8.lead (动词) “带路/领路”
lead sb. to + 地点 “带领某人去某地”
lead sb. to do sth. “引导某人做某事”

【重点句型】
1. The old computers were much bigger. 旧式电脑更大得多一些。
It could play chess even better than humans.它下国际象棋甚至比人下得更好。
much是形容词,意思是许多,可修饰不可数名词, 此处much修饰的是形容词的比较级,表示… …得多的意思。
even是副词,意思是甚至,更, 此外,a little, a bit, a lot等也可以修饰形容词比较级。

本句是一个含有主语从句的主从复合句, it在句中作形式主语,that引导的从句是真正的主语。 It's unbelievable at …意为很难相信…。

(2) unbelievable adj. 难以置信的;不真实的
unbelievable 由“否定前缀 un- + believable”构成,其反义词是 believable“可信的”。

(3) progress : v. 进展,进步
progress 为不及物动词,意为“进步;进展”。如果表示“在某方面取得进步”,应用介词in。
I asked the nurse how my father was progressing.
We are progressing in knowledge. 我们的知识正在增长。
拓展:progress 还可作不可数名词,常用 much,great,rapid 等形容词修饰。意为“进步;进展;前进”。
常用短语:make(great) progress in“在…取得(很大)进步;取得(很大)进展”。
With the teacher's help, he has made great progress in English.
在老师的帮助下,他在英语方面取得了很大进步。
We have made great progress in learning English.
(4) such与so
① It is such a hot day!今天是如此炎热的一天。
such +a\an+形容词+可数名词单数
② I hope to have such delicious food every day.
我希望每天能吃到如此可口的事物。
(3)They are such useful books.它们是如此有用的书。
由第②③句可总结出,such+形容词+可数名词复数\不可数名词
④ It is so hot a day! 今天是如此炎热的一天。
so+形容词+a\an+可数名词单数
由以上例句得知,such与so都表示程度,意为如此
(5) rapid的副词形式为rapidly.

动名词:动词原形+ ing
汉翻英:上大学是那个小男孩的梦想.
Going to the college is the little boy's dress.

social作形容词,常用在名词前作定语。
We should treat some social problems reasonably.
拓展延伸:social的名词形式为society,意为“社会”。
