Read and Think
The first person down the street was a milkman with his cart.He crashed into the stone, spilling the milk everywhere."What fool put this stone here "he shouted. He picked himself up and angrily went away.
After a while,a group of women came along, each balancing a pot of water on her head. One woman tripped over the stone and her water pot went crashing to the ground. She picked herself up and limped away in tears.Neither she nor her friends thought about moving the stone out of the road.
The king watched all day as many people complained about the stone, but he found nobody making an attempt to move it.The king was in despair."Is there no one in this village who feels any responsibility to keep their neighbors from harm "

A Review About“Mother of Ten Thousand Babies”
The title of the article is“Mother of Ten Thousand Babies”. It is a biography of afamous Chinese woman,Lin Qiaozhi, who was a doctor at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital. The article explains how Dr Lin made some very difficult life choices in order to help others, which led to her becoming known as the“Mother of Ten Thousand Babies”.
The author probably wrote this article in order to inspire and encourage the readers. Ithink Dr Lin's story was presented clearly, with the author using many examples to illustrate her kindness and selfless contributions to others. Dr Lin had a lot of chances to live a better and easier life, but she gave everything up to improve the health care of women and babies. I was quite moved by the article,so I think the article was successful in achieving its purpose.
I like this article most because it encourages me to follow my heart. I was very impressedby Dr Lin's good deeds and kind words, and I was especially moved by the quote that begins the article. The only thing that was perhaps missing from this article was a description of how Dr Lin's work is being further developed today. Nevertheless,I would definitely recommend this article to others.
Read the sample review and answer the question: what information is included in each part
The girl pushed the stone with all her might. However, the stone remained absolutely still. Though tired and exhausted, the girl didn’t give up. Then she bent down , pushed it again and again, and finally moved it away. She could hardly contain her excitement and jumped up with joy. Suddenly , she spotted some gold coins hidden under the stone . Out of curiosity, the girl picked up the coins , wondering whose coins were missing.
Sample Writing
Just then, the king stepped out from behind the tree. “oh, are they your coins ” said the girl in a surprised tone, “I found it from under the stone .” the king explained to the girl that the coins were deliberately placed by him so as to test people’s responsibility. Feeling relived , the king patted her on the shoulder, saying , “these are yours now, take it as a reward for your sense of responsibility.” Indeed, only when people all take responsibilities for the community can it become a better world.
Sample Writing
Possible answers.
1. Do you think the king was wise Why or why not
I don‘t think that the king was very wise, however, because no one learnt anything from his experiment. The milkman, the woman with her water pot, and the other villagers continued on their travels without having changed their attitudes at all. The king did find one responsible young girl, but she was already a responsible person before she encountered(遭遇) the stone in the road.
2. Can you think of times in your own life when you felt and acted like the girl or like the other people in the story Give examples.
There have been times when I have acted responsibly like the girl in the story. For example, I recently saw some children playing on a dangerous balcony, and so I warned them it was dangerous and had them go somewhere else to play. However, often I'm more like the milkman in the story because I'm very busy with my own work and worries.
