I. Learning objectives
By the end of the period, students will be able to:
1.analyse the environmental problems around the world and learn some ways to achieve the balance;
2.analyse the structure of this transcript;
3. analyse the main viewpoints of the host and three guests.

III. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Brainstorming /Lead-in
T shows Ss some pictures about the former environment and the current situation. Then ask them the following questions.
What can you see from the pictures
What damage have we done to the earth
How can we achieve a balance between environmental protection and the economic development
Step 2 Listening comprehension
T gives Ss 30 seconds to read the questions and then Ss will listen to the tape and write down their answers.
