Ireland has had a very difficult history. The problems started in the 16th century when English rulers(统治者) tried to conquer Ireland. For hundreds of years, the Irish people fought against the English. Finally, in 1921, the British government was forced to give independence(独立) to the south of Ireland. The result is that today there are two “Irelands”. Northern Ireland, in the north, is part of the United Kingdom. The Republic of Ireland, in the south, is an independent country.
In the 1840s the main crop, potatoes, was affected by disease and about 750,000 people died of hunger. This, and a shortage (短缺) of work, forced many people to leave Ireland and live in the USA, the UK, Australia and Canada. As a result of these problems, the population fell from 8.2 million in 1841 to 6.6 million in 1851.
For many years, the majority of Irish people earned their living as farmers. Today, many people still work on the land but more and more people are moving to the cities to work in factories and offices. Life in the cities is very different from life in the countryside, where things move at a quieter and slower pace.
The Irish are famous for being warm-hearted and friendly. Oscar Wilde, a famous Irish writer, once said that the Irish were “the greatest talkers since the Greeks”. Since independence, Ireland has revived (复兴) its own culture of music, language, literature and singing. Different areas have different styles of old Irish songs which are sung without instruments. Other kinds of Irish music use many different instruments such as the violin, whistles, etc.
8. What does the author tell us in Paragraph 1
A. How the Irish fought against the English.
B. How Ireland gained independence.
C. How English rulers tried to conquer Ireland.
D. How two “Irelands” came into being.
9. We learn from the text that in Ireland ________.
A. food shortages and a lack of work in the 1840s led to a decline in population
B. people are moving to the cities for lack of work in the countryside
C. it is harder to make a living as a farmer than as a factory worker
D. different kinds of old Irish songs are all sung with instruments
10. The last paragraph is mainly about ________.
A. the Irish character B. the Irish culture
C. Irish musical instruments D. a famous Irish writer
11. What can be the best title for the text
A. Life in Ireland B. A Very Difficult History
C. Ireland, Past and Present D. The Independence of Ireland
D
There are a few benefits to users from the cloud besides giving you peace of mind if you lose your phone. You can access your data anytime, anywhere if you’re connected to the Internet. And you don’t have to worry about using up all of the storage on your hard drive, meaning you might not have to pay as much for a device that comes with a ton of storage.
You’ve probably heard of the two biggest names in the market, Amazon Web Services, known as AWS, and Microsoft Azure, IBM, Google and Alibaba are also big players when it comes to providing cloud services.
Many cloud services are based on a subscription pricing model. That means users pay, for example, a monthly fee for cloud services and they can scale up or down as needed. And cloud providers are cashing in. AWS takes up about 12 percent of Amazon’s quarterly sales, but it makes more than half of the company’s operating income.
Before we get too excited about the cloud, let’s take a step back and look at some of the risks. One obvious concern, if all of our data is online, what happens when the Internet goes down That’s what happened in 2013 when an AWS power cut took down Instagram, Vine and Airbub.
Hacker attacks are another big risk with research showing around one-fifth of all files in the cloud contain sensitive data.
Finally, it can be difficult for consumers and businesses to switch between different cloud companies. I might have a hard time syncing my iCloud and Google Drive accounts. That can give some big companies that are already making big money on the cloud a lot of power over our data.
12. Which of the following can replace the underlined word “access” in Paragraph 1
A. Get. B. Show. C. Understand. D. Enter.
13. Which of the following provides cloud services
A. Instagram. B. Alibaba. C. Airbub. D. Vine.
14. What can we learn from the passage
A. Cloud providers offer services at their own cost.
B. All the cloud services must be ordered ahead of time.
C. AWS gains over 50%of Amazon’s operating income.
D. Customers must pay a regular fixed fee for cloud services.
15. The main idea of the passage is about ______.
A. what the cloud is
B. how the cloud works
C. the advantage over disadvantage of the cloud
D. the advantage and disadvantage of the cloud

39.Although/Though/While 考查状语从句。
Dear Nick,
I’m very delighted to hear that you are going to travel in Beijing. You have made a wise choice because Beijing has so many tourist attractions.
Located in the north of China, Beijing has a history of over 3000 years. As the capital, it is a fascinating mix of history and modern culture, with a great number of places of interest. I strongly recommend that you visit the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, where you can walk into the ancient Chinese culture. In addition, the Bird Nest is a famous landmark, which can definitely leave a deep impression on you. Besides, I believe you will marvel at this great modern building when you arrive at Daxing International Airport.
I'm sure you'll have a good time. Looking forward to your coming.
Yours,
Lihua
第二节
参考范文:
Just at that moment, many memories came back into my mind. When I was ill, she was always the one taking care of me. When I had trouble with my study, she never lost faith in me and encouraged me to keep going. When I arrived home during the weekend, she always prepared my favourite food. All her kindness came back to me. I should be grateful for all she had done for me. I realised I should go back home immediately and say sorry to my mother.
When arriving home, I saw my mother sitting at the dinner table, worried and tired. She must have been looking for me everywhere. I was ready for her anger and shouts. However, before I could apologise, my mother saw me and gently said, “Oh, honey, you’re back! Come inside. You are probably very hungry I cooked your favourite e and eat while they are still hot.” No longer able to control myself, I cried in her arms. “I’m sorry, Mom, please forgive me” I whispered to her with tears, extremely ashamed of myself.
