Tony Hawk, who I thought was bigger than life, came in the room and then the interview began.
As the world’ s greatest skateboarder (滑板手) , he talked about how his life was not always so miraculous (奇迹般的). He mentioned one day he was skating on top of the world, and the next day the sport of skateboarding fell right on its face. Life for Tony has had its ups and downs, and what brought him back up was the way he believed in himself. One of the most tragic events in Tony’ s life was that his father passed away. Although he suffered such pain, he never lost sight of his dream. He put his energy into his dream, which helped him overcome his sadness.
One part of Tony that completely impressed me is the way he accepts himself. His goal is never to do better than others, but to do his best. If he does the best he can, it doesn’t matter how anyone else takes him. That’s true and wise. As for me, I play baseball and things aren’t going so well, but I’m trying my hardest because that’s life. It’s how you approach those bad days that will keep you on top.
Confidence brought Tony to the next level. During our meeting he continually talked about the importance of following one’ s dream. He also said, along with that, one needs to have a strong faith in one’s own ability to achieve that dream, no matter what challenges are presented.
By the end, I didn’t see the same guy who had walked through the door an hour earlier. Now I view him as more than a world-class skateboarder. He is also a normal person who has dealt with many of the same problems we all face, but the difference is that he is always able to rise above his problems by having faith in his dream.

Scientists have not found any signs of life on Mars yet, but they say a robotic vehicle called “Curiosity” is helping them learn a lot about the planet’ s history and climate.
Curiosity landed on Mars in August 2012 after travelling through space for more than eight months. It was sent to Mars by scientists from NASAin the United States.
Curiosity is about the size of a car and has six wheels. It also has a robotic arm, cameras, and instruments that allow it to examine things it finds on the surface. Then it sends the information back to the earth.Curiosity' s main task is to find out if anything could live on Mars, either now or in the past. On Nov.2,NASA scientists held a press conference (新闻发布会) to discuss what Curiosit y had found in its first two months onMars.
Curiosity has found soil that is similar to the sand formed by volcanoes (火山) on the earth. Scientists say that studying the minerals in Martian soil will help them understand what conditions were like on the planet in the past.
Curiosity also found smooth stones like the ones found on river beds and seashores on the earth, where their rough edges have been worn down by water. Mars is very cold and dry now, but scientists say the smooth stones tell them that a river used to run through the place where they were found.
Curiosity has been testing the atmosphere around Mars for a type of gas called methane (甲烷), but so fari t has not found any. On the earth, most methane is produced by plants or animals. Methane on Mars might indicate that some type of tiny plants or animals lived there.

In a small town, there lived a young elementary school student named Timmy, whose lateness had become his worst trait (特点) in his school.
Every school morning, he struggled to get out of bed, often finding himself rushing through breakfast and forgetting important things like his homework or lunchbox. Meanwhile, his classmates would glance at the empty seat beside them, exchanging knowing looks as the clock ticked pa st the start of the class. When Timmy finally arrived, he would often find himself the center of attention, and his cheeks red with embarrassment as he apologised. Deep down, Timmy felt a growing sense of discomfort and shame about his habitual lateness. His teachers and classmates were concerned about the effect of his constant lateness on his studies.
One day, Timmy’s class teacher, Mrs. Johnson, decided to solve the issue. She approached Timmy with a gentle smile, “Timmy, can we talk about something important ”
Timmy looked up and replied, a bit nervous, “Sure, Mrs. Johnson.”
She crouched (蹲下) down to his level, speaking softly but seriously and sincerely, “I’ve noticed you’ve been late for class quite often. Do you know being on time is very important ”
Timmy lowered his head and said, “Yes, but...”
Mrs. Johnson continued, “Being on time helps you not miss out on your lessons. It’s also about respect for your classmates and me. When you’re late, it can disrupt (打乱) the whole class. We all miss you when you’re not here on time.”
Timmy nodded and said, a look of understanding on his face, “I didn’t realize it was affecting everyone. I’ll try to be better, Mrs. Johnson. But I have difficulty waking up and getting out of bed. Every morning when my alarm clock sounded, I hit the snooze (小睡) button, just 10 more minutes. Then 10 minutes later, another 10 minutes. That’s why I am always late for school.”
“Don’t worry. We’re all here to help you,” Mrs. Johnson said, offering a comforting smile.

根据划线短语上一句“As the world’ s greatest skateboarder (滑板手) , he talked about how his life was not always so miraculous (奇迹般的).(作为世界上最伟大的滑板手,他谈到了他的生活并不总是那么奇迹般的。)”
根据文章第三段“One part of Tony that completely impressed me is the way he accepts himself. His goal is never to do better than others, but to do his best. If he does the best he can, it doesn’t matter how anyone else takes him. That’s true and wise. As for me, I play baseball and things aren’t going so well, but I’m trying my hardest because that’s life. It’s how you approach those bad days that will keep you on top.(Tony给我留下深刻印象的是他接受自己的方式。 故选A项。
根据文章第二段的“Although he suffered such pain, he never lost sight of his dream. He put his energy into his dream, which helped him overcome his sadness.(尽管他遭受了这样的痛苦,但他从未忘记他的梦想。他把精力投入到他的梦想中,这帮助他克服了悲伤。)”以及文章第四段“During our meeting he continually talked about the importance of following one’s dream. He also said, along with that, one needs to have a strong faith in one’s own ability to achieve that dream, no matter what challenges are presented.(在我们的会面中,他不停地谈论追逐梦想的重要性。他还说,与此同时,一个人无论面临什么样的挑战,都需要对自己实现梦想的能力有坚定的信念。)”可推测,作者认为Tony Hawk实现梦想的决心使他克服了悲伤,使他能够取得成功。因此,他实现梦想的决心使他与众不同。故选C项。
【7题详解】
推理判断题。根据文最后一段“By the end, I didn’t see the same guy who had walked through the door an hour earlier. Now I view him as more than a world-class skateboarder. He is also a normal person who has dealt with many of the same problems we all face, but the difference is that he is always able to rise above his problems by having faith in his dream.(最后,我看到的已经不是一小时前走进来的那个人了。现在我认为他不仅仅是一个世界级的滑板运动员。他也是一个普通人,处理过许多我们都面临的同样的问题,但不同的是,他总是能够超越自己。)”可知,在采访的最后,作者认为Tony Hawk不仅是一位滑板巨星,还是一个普通人,能够面对和克服生活中的问题,因此作者认为Tony Hawk是真实的。故选B。

Curiosity is the fourth robotic vehicle to be sent to Mars. It will continue to explore the planet for about two years :

Additionally, they organized a morning study group that met half an hour before class started, giving Timmy an extra reason to arrive early. Mrs. Johnson also suggested a reward system: For every week Timmy was on time, he would earn a star, and a certain number of stars would earn him a small prize. They stuck to the plan day in and day out.
Soon Timmy’s change was obvious. The morning calls from his classmates not only woke him up but also made him feel cared for and part of a community. The routine helped him get more organized, and slowly he was no longer late. His classmates cheered for every star he earned, and Mrs. Johnson’s encouragement motivated him further. Timmy’s self-esteem grew as he no longer felt the embarrassment of being late. This newfound sense of responsibility and community support transformed not just his morning routine but his overall attitude towards school and learning.
