What is a carbon footprint

A carbon footprint is the amount of greenhousegases - primarily carbon dioxide - releasedinto the air by a particular human activity.For example, when you drive a car, the engineburns fuel which creates a certain amount ofgreenhouse gases. When you heat your housewith coal or electricity, you also generategreenhouse gases. Even the production of foodand goods emits some quantities of greenhousegases. Together these emissions make up acarbon footprint.
